Your hair has come so far in just a year! It's really beautiful and a true testament to how beneficial it is to listen to your own hair and not to follow everyone else's advice.
My hair is fine (the diameter of my strands is small) and it hates many things that people with thicker relaxed strands swear by - the biggest being wearing braids and cornrows for protective styles and stretching one's relaxer for 4-6 months. It took me years of doing these things (and always having to trim my hair back to between SL and APL due to massive tangling and breakage at the line of demarcation) to realize that they just weren't meant for my fine hair.
I've stopped wearing braids for the past year and a half and I'm basing my relaxer schedule on how manageable my hair is (instead of going as long as possible just for the sake of it). I'm finally a solid APL! I'm looking forward to seeing how far we've both come in another year's time! :)

Well said. It is true, my hair suffered so bad taking many different advices. I am so happy we both round what works for us. I had to give up braids and sew ins, also stretching my relaxer from every 3-4 months to no more that 2 months.

@@samminu yes! Me as well. People with thicker hair swear by all the things my fine hair disagrees with lol literally can not do much but wear it straight or a little bun . It doesn’t like moisturizers . Just serum . Oils are too heavy and I just learned this maybe a month ago. My hair would’ve been much longer by now but I had to keep trimming off the damaged hair due to not knowing what my hair really needs. I was doing moisturizing and sealing until I found one of your videos about that. My hair would just fall out . It’s important to understand our hair. I can’t wait to see how my hair journey goes. Thanks for all the awesome tips :) also I did the reconstructive conditioner immediately after my relaxer last week . My hair felt stronger . I’m going to stick with that and see what it does for my hair . Again.. it makes perfect sense to add that tip in our hair journey ❤️🙌🏽

My fine colour treated strands loved roller sets then a wrap after it’s dried versus blow drying and flat ironing. When I lived in Jamaican this was my routine plus the keracare line. It got me past bra strap length with tons of swing. The only heat came from a hooded dryer. Have you tried roller setting? You are right about being diligent with relax hair, you can’t be lazy with it. Put in the effort and it will flourish. Stick to a simple regimen with quality products.

Do not feel bad in saying that moisturizing and sealing does not work for your hair. If it doesn’t then that is ok. Sharing what works for you could help someone else because everyone hair is different. Likewise Stretching relaxer is not for everyone. Do what is best for your hair. What matters most is to achieve and maintain healthy hair. Your hair is coming along well so keep doing what works for you.

    Such great tips !!
I followed your advice also regarding replacing my moisturizing-sealing routine.
I fired my stylist and found someone quite knowledgeable and trained in hair care and the proper use of heat.
Her evaluation and treatment of my hair has produced visible results to date.
I have not had a relaxer in eight months.
She has brought my hair back to life with keratin treatments, deep conditioning treatments and yes roller sets then blowouts.
She effectively keeps my grey roots colored with the right type of demi color.
My hair is now feeling softer and growing out thicker!!
I have had great results using the proclaim polish. I also massage my scalp with jojoba oil and a few drops of rosemary and peppermint oil.
This is how I will continue to maintain my hair!!
I also purchased the Dyson supersonic… great investment!!

I went to bed last week without wrapping or using a scarf because I have a silk pillowcase and was feeling cute. Big mistake lol. I'm a heat trained natural, but I'm thinking of getting a relaxer

    • @samminu

OOOhh no!!! I always wanted to try just the pillowcase, but I had a weird feeling about it. 💔💔 If you are considering going relaxed. I suggest you find a really good hairstylist to give you that first relaxer. Then you can do your touch up at home after. ❤❤❤💕💕

Question? So on relaxer day you just simply wash the hair first with just water to wash out your relaxer and then do you protein treatment? After you would then apply your neutralizing shampoo?
