I have had all the Nikon 24-70 f2.8s over the last 15 yrs starting with the then 28-70 f2.8 and they were all up there with the best of the other brands ..on a par so to speak but the S 24-70 f2.8 S has proved by all the reviewers even the N haters as the best ever made. I have 2 S lenses so far the 14-30 F4 and This lens being reviewed and while the 14-30 is awesome and takes 82 MM Nisi filters ..The 24-70 f2.8 Z is so sharp it makes you weep right across the frame ..Still have to get the 70-200 S plus 2x convertor for Wildlife and IF I dont eventually trade the 14-30 for the 14-24 2.8 for Astro I will need to get the 20mm f1.8 for Milky way but the thought of $200 NISI 112mm filters !!!! probably go the 20mm f1.8 route ..This 24-70 IS THE BUSINESS

It is the business indeed peter! :) I enjoyed the 20mm f1.8 but I think a astro video may be in the pipe line to give it a proper test!

I had the 50mm f1.8 ..Very very sharp but not nearly as versatile as a 24-70..I use this 24-70 ..for ..Portraits , Weddings , Family , Wild Life , 24mm Astro (Need wider) , Macro, etc etc ..As the 200-600 wont be an S lens it will maybe an F6.3 but most probably f8 which for me is as dark as Midnight down a coal mine and like the DSLR 200-500 f5.6 it maybe softer at the long end ..I am getting the 70-200 f2.8 for Landscapes and Portraits and for Wild life I am going to add the 2x convertor = 140-400 f5.6 ..Need 600 you beat for kalahari wild Life ..Go DX on the High mega pixel Z7 or crop ..plenty of resolution to play with and you will have the best 70-200 ever made as a base lens for lots of other stuff ..I find that even my old Tamron 150 - 600 was way too long at the short end I sold the 50mm and 85 mm f1.8 lenses to help get the 24-70 ..now to sell my last Kidney to get the 70-200 !!

Hi Peter! Thank you for your comments on the video as always! Appreciate the support! Yes, it is crazy sharp right into the corners and really small and lightweight. I have used the 20mm F1.8 as well .. a very nice lens. The problem with having all the primes is that you end up having to change your lens a lot if a situation that requires different focal lengths, such as a wedding. If the 200/600 S is an F8, I would be on your boat with the 70-200 f2.8 with a 1.4 tele. The 2x tele was a lot softer. Owning the Z7 does indeed allow for that cropping which I mentioned as a huge benefit for the Z7 over in the comparison video. hahaha, last kidney! Hold on to it for now! Let me review the lens first ;)
