War was a group that knew about the groove, starting off slow then building to that crescendo where it was Lee Oskar time...laying back and letting him solo and then again building up for the finale!! Makes for great music!

Yeah I was about the same age when I wore out my WAR albums listening to Lee Oskar solo, especially Gypsy Man! Knew how to solo, nice and easy in the beginning and building up higher and higher! He could solo all day long if he wanted to!
I never discovered thus band till after the 70s, the first song that got me was the gipsy man, although I do prefer the recorded version that was played on the radio. Real bands, proper musicians and proper music, non of the synthetic crap from the media generated boy or girl bands most of which is regenerated lemon and mccartney
I feel ya, kitty2pat. The OG's of WAR most definitely deserve high praise and recognition for all the great music they shared with the world. Love them.
