I feel like I'm in the minority of people who really liked AC Unity. Story was well paced (a tiny bit slow), very well thought out, and nicely tied into various historical events. The world design was one of the best EVER, coupled with great graphics and atmosphere. Plus, Arno was a pretty great character, I was a big fan.
I liked Unity, too. It has the second most interesting setting for me, it made the combat more challenging and it had great side missions. I absolutely loved the murder mysteries.
@@kindajacked5154 Obviously Unity > Syndicate. Jacob and Evie were nice characters but the game lacked many things and didn't give the 'Assasin's Creed' feeling much.. On the other hand Unity is decent with the smoothest assasin
When it works well it can be a fun game too but does get a bit dull and long winded with reptitive stuff. I actually liked running around the map in unity it was nice and the interiors and designs was really good imo. Shame about no day night cycle
No day/night cycle... Did we even play the same game? Yeah, it takes a while for hours to pass in the game, but it most certainly has a day/night cycle. A very similar cycle to Syndicate, actually
Altair got saddest life : Lost his father from a family friend Unknown mother Family friend dad slit his throat when he was 10 Killed his master Wife was murdered Youngest son executed by best friend Killed his best friend
I’d say Connor had the saddest one. He watched his mother burn to death, killed his father, unknowingly fought for the people who burned his village and got his mother killed, had his mentor die, and really just lost everything
AC has been one of, if not the most important game franchises to me personally. You almost made a old AC fan cry man. Def showing this to all my friends. Keep it up.
Yeah I have many fond memories playing ezio trilogy.I played the one with the native American assassin but I fell of the franchise after that. I'm interested in playing origins and the new odyssey
I still get the chills everytime i think of the time back in 06/07 when I saw the first trailer and read the first article from the game... Wow just wow!!!! BTW i've played al of them!
My head hurt from nodding while you were talking about ACIII. One of my favourites for sure and most definetely underappreciated! Also, good work, man!
I don’t care about the opinions of others. I’ve played every single AC game since the first one, and I’ve enjoyed every single one of them, even the reboot with Origins and look forward to Odyssey. I look forward to new AC games in future as well. Thanks Ubisoft for these games and memories.
I played them and other side stuff like that Facebook game that no longer exists. The Chronicles series were pretty good and challenging for a couple of games. I'm a sucker for detailed info on story background lol
I just completed AC 1 yesterday and i have to say its a masterpiece if we ignore the repititive gameplay and year it was released in . Like the graphics are so much better relative to the time
I can remember i was 16 ( i'm 27) now and i got AC for my birthday i wasnt allowed to play 18+ videoagames from my mother but she made a exception for this one - because it was about history . I cant stop playing ever since xD
Leonidas Alexios Kassandra Bayek Aya Altaïr Ezio Shao Jun Edward Adéwalé Haytham Shay Aveline Connor Arno Arbaaz Evie Jacob Jack Nikolai Anastasia Lydia All the playable legends that made the series the best game
ACII and ACB together are still among my favorite games of all time. Still being directed by Patrice and composed by Jesper. They felt so immersive, almost like I was in the animus myself. A feeling that the series hasn't been able to capture since for me even though I have loved playing the more recent games.
You can tell Nick930 is a DEDICATED Assassin's Creed fan when the man's Unity map is absolutely cleared of the cluttered collectibles. Kudos to you brother for going the extra mile to collect everything. Especially those damned artifacts.... I would know... ;)
I completely agree with you, connor will always be my favorite...the trailer for AC3 is what pulled me in and I think out of all the assassins up until origins connor had the best assassin outfit.
You say Altaïr was dull and uncharismatic, while for me he was the best character of all. Altaïr had a mystery and code around him. I felt much more curious and wondrous when playing as Altaïr. He was the epitomization of the the assassins. I felt like I was playing something larger than myself, while Ezio's core story felt more like a soap opera full of clichés, especially the playboy attitude. This attitude was everything the assassins weren't, unresponsible and driven by primitive emotions. I could not take Ezio seriously when he said the phrases of the assassins. For me, Ezio felt much more shallow. "We work in the dark, to serve the light" felt dishonest when Ezio said it, "I work in the dark, to serve MY light" would have suited him better. Don't misunderstand me, they were great games and very interesting. But the mystical journey I had with Altaïr was never recreated in the whole series.
Sorry to butt in so randomly, but I just have to say that I wholeheartedly agree with your comment. I simply cannot see how so many people see Altaïr's character or story as dull or uncharismatic, to me up to this day Altaïr's story is still my favorite storyline in the franchise. I started with Brotherhood originally, so Ezio was my first Assassin. When I had time enough to spare I went back to the older ones, and I have to say that in AC2 especially, Ezio was insufferable to me at times. I can definitely appreciate his character development by the end of Revelations, and I do see how Ezio and Altaïr's circumstances were extremely different - Altaïr was born into the Order and was in a way a part of it from a young age, while Ezio only found out about the Order after the beginning of AC2. Keeping that and the emotional strain the death of most of his family left on him in mind it made it understandable that he needed a bit of time to fall into the role of an Assassin. But what turned me off from him was the initial first impression the game went with already. Both, Ezio and Altaïr displayed pride and arrogance at the start of the game, but the effects that follow afterward are completely different. Altaïr's arrogance is the immediate cause of Kadar's death, Malik's permanent injury which basically tears his Assassin career away from him forever, and the siege of Masyaf with a number of other deaths stacking up. Ezio, on the other hand, is allowed to bask in his pride and arrogance after the glorious victory after Federico shows up. From the very first cutscene in AC1 I was invested in the characters present. When I returned to Masyaf, the victory at the siege didn't feel like a victory at all, and in my opinion, Malik's VA did an amazing job portraying his grief and anger at the loss of his brother. At the time, Altaïr might have still displayed some of his arrogance, but as a player, I felt all the guilt on his behalf. So the game clearly was doing something right with its portrayal, at least for me. The same investment continued through the game, where I would physically shrink away whenever I entered Jerusalem Bureau and Malik started to yell at Altaïr. I loved watching both of them slowly develop and meet each other halfway until they finally buried the hatchet and finally fully started to trust each other and formed a deep friendship. These feelings were only strengthened when I returned from Arsuf (that in itself had an amazing effect on me with its atmosphere), already mentally and emotionally drained, only to walk into the unsettling atmosphere that was Masyaf and having to kill my own allies. And who shows up with his support group but Malik. I was never happier to see him, and I really felt like he had Altaïr's back at that point. I also loved his response to Altaïr's greeting - Safety and peace. In the beginning, it was "Your presence here deprives me of both." By the end, it changed to "Your presence here will deliver us both." It was a really simple line, but it showed just how much newfound trust and respect he had for Altaïr. Revelations then did a great job with the memories expanding on Altaïr and Maria, which is another relationship I wholeheartedly enjoyed. To me, Altaïr's story was by far the most tragic, especially in his later years, where he lost his son, his best friend, his wife and the Order all in one day, simply because of Abbass' grudge. I could never really forgive Abbass as a character, especially after Altaïr worked so hard to keep the Order afloat after the disaster in AC1. It really did hurt watching him be chased out by his own, and seeing him reclaim the Order was all the more satisfying. To me, he really was a true Assassin and even after he was chased out by his own Order and grieving the many many losses, he never really stopped working with the best interests for the Order. The only thing I'm sad I never got to see again was Malik in the role of Altaïr's advisor. Especially if he kept his firey personality. I'm not sure about the general consensus on the Secret Crusade novel since I don't really see it discussed often, but I really did love it. It was a beautiful retelling of the story with some more insight into Altaïr's thoughts and made some key moments which were already powerful in the game all the more powerful and emotional, especially with the end when Malik's son helps Altaïr reclaim the Order through peaceful means, a small detail that allowed Malik to come through for Altaïr one last time through his son. TL;DR - At least to me personally, Altaïr's story was a rollercoaster of emotions. His story is many things, but bland, uninspired and uncharismatic are not one of them. I loved almost all the characters in it, even the ones who died early such as Kadar were given presence and meaning through the feelings of grief and loss of the characters, and didn't feel unimportant, even though we as the player barely knew them. Altaïr to me was a true Assassin who reached the truer, deeper understanding of the code. He may not have been my first Assassin, but he was indeed the Assassin I was the most invested in by far. Also sorry for the wall of text, whoever read so far, I hope it was at least worth your time :)
Both are great protagonists. Ezio needed alot of character development to be loved while Altair’s mysterious character was enough to attract fans even if he had only one game. If AC revelations didnt expand on Ezio’s character the way it did, I wouldn’t have taken Ezio seriously, especially with how he started out in AC 2. However in Altair’s case, one game was enough for me to love his character yet i felt like wanting more. He always gave me a very mysterious vibe which i absolutely love about him. Altair was the most assassin-like assassin in the series.
I didnt like Altair at all in AC1.....untill AC revelation The amount of sacrifices he choose for the greater good of his brotherhood easily made him my second most favourite protagonist in franchise.
I'm a newcomer to the game, and this video was really useful for understanding both the story in game and the history of the franchise. Thank you for making this! Also: the first AC game I played was Unity, about a year ago, and with my limited knowledge of the franchise, I thought (and still think) the game was really good. Then recently I started hearing that it is known as the worst AC. I didn't think it was that bad, but maybe I played it after they fixed the game or something.
@@blockaderunner3582 Free now to me since what I got was a complete whichever edition. It also has another DLC arms of the revolution if I'm right. I'd trade it all for more 1944 Paris, and stealthing the NAZIs not just shooting at the plane. They will just not touch WW2 it seems, unless to write that it was fake. Yeah tell my grandmother that, she was evacuated, one of my grandfathers fought in a tank, other infantry. This is why they don't touch it, too many would get insulted whatever they did with it.
@@harun706 me to I love more the Ezio story, but Black Flag was a breath of fresh air in the AC series that I really enjoyed playing, the massive beautiful open world and the main character Kenway, and the historical figures like Edward „Blackbeard“ Thatch, Benjamin Hornigold, Anne Bonny, Jack Rackham, Charles Vane, and Mary Read were stunning to interact with these characters and the friendships that were made, ultimately experiencing the life of a pirate was an amazing experience.
"dull and uncharismatic altair" yeah he was groomed to kill, blend in with the crowds and be efficient at all time, unlike ezio... dya really expect a suave arab with a colourful oil tycoon personality?
I would like to add the fact that Altair was born into the Assassins But Ezio chose to become an Assassin of course Ezio will be more charismatic he actually has a life before he became an Assassin but Altair he only knows the way that he was taught to be an Assassin. I think they should make another game about Altair with all the swords and the Crusaders really its how all the Assassins Games should've been.
@sudha bhatt There's more to a character than that though. Altair was far better written than Ezio as a character because of his arc and the way he evolves whereas Ezio was so focused on being written as "cool and likable" that it made his character worse
Thank you guys for watching. Much like the last retrospective piece I made on Tomb Raider, this took a lot of time to create and I tried my best to ensure that all the information was as accurate as possible. If there are any mistakes, please feel free to share them with me. And if you want to see more videos like this, please consider making donations via my "Patreon." Corrections: -Altair is not Syrian technically. He was from the Levant. It's "modern day Syria" but he's not really Syrian. -AC: Origins takes place during ptolemy xiii not viii
Nick930 good retrospective it looks like this is in 4k but my phone only goes to 1440p. Creed 2 and black flag were my favorite but I really enjoyed all of them.
Great video. I love this series, yet my last game played was Unity. I need to play Rogue, Syndicate, and Origins still. I'm a little behind, haha. Edit: I did actually like Unity. Played it on the PS4, and the bugs seemed to be mostly worked out.
I Think they took another year off, I heard of a new AC game releasing this year I think it has something to do with Vikings this time, but what I am afraid for, is that the game is gonna be much like AC odessey not much of an assassin’s game more like a For Honor game
@@8leggedkings529 to be honest ive tried it 5 months ago, dont really like it. Maybe the story is what makes everyone love it but the controls, graphics, etc is a nightmare. Main reason of why i dont really like it is the controls, it is so hard for me to parkour with a really clunky movement, so i gave up until 35 minutes of keep falling down
I would say unity and syndicate are one of my favorites because of the improvement in parkour and the scenery but Ezio's story line wins by far every other ac game. I also love odyssey but I don't think it should be part of the ac line, same with origins and valhalla, they just don't have those mechanics that made the game how it is
Rogue and black flag are my favorites....funny when Shay was a former assassin for most of the game and Edward was never actually an assassin, just permitted to wear the robes. Though in AC 3 it was said haythams dad did end up becoming one.
If you actually are aware of what is happening in the game and where you are and who do you kill, not only listen to the story, then maybe, if you are curious enough. But if not, most games start with things like: "Inspired by historical events and characters, this work of fiction" etc.
Just a hopeful wish. But wouldn't it be awesome if they made an assasins creed on the sengoku period of Japan focusing around oda nobunaga or an assasins creed during the three kingdoms era of china. Wah u guys think?
They should do that. Its been so requested but for some reason they ignored it. But anyways the series look like its getting back on theyre feet. Altought they are diferent from any ac that ever came out, origins and odyssey are great games
Bravo dude, as someone who uploads videos sometimes I can't imagine how long this video took to create. Capturing certain footage, writing the script, and editing must've taken a while. Very good video, exactly what I was looking for. Thank you.
I generally give myself 2 weeks for a video like this. I set a schedule for myself so I'd get footage from 2 games a day, edit the footage, etc. Was cutting it close too as I wanted to release this exactly a week before Odyssey.
Nick930 2 weeks? That’s insane. Non the less I very much enjoyed this video and have checked out some of your other vids and of course subbed. Keep up the good content👍🏼
Finally, someone who understands what people mean when they see the word "history" next to a video game title. I swear, 99% of the time that you see that word used in a UA-cam video about a particular game, it is merely just a few gameplay vids of each title in the series and nothing else. No commentary, no voiceover, no actual "HISTORY!!!" Hell, most of the time, other than the title of the game, there's not even any text info about the game. They basically do the least amount of work that they barely even meet the qualifications to even be called a video. You on the other hand sir, have knocked it out of the park and give viewers the very thing that they clicked the link for. And for that, I say thank you.
Personally, I thought every AC was pretty dam great. I don't know why Unity go so much hate on this, since it was a really great game other than a few bugs
I love Unity. Compared to Odyssey atm it's basically bug free. Odyssey has crashed on me so many times, every day or two days, and had instances of my character either going invisible or flashing visible-invisible. Still playing it though, deeply engrossing.
AC Unity was and is massively underrated... the Beauty of the world and all its possibilities is breathtaking and its still worth playing years after its release and is still uplifting to play. Sadly its successor, Syndicate, remained as under-saturated as its graphics often was
Unity was a solid AC game, pretty underrated if you ask me. Fun gameplay, interesting story, customization, fun little quest in the world, and a good amount of weapons. Though some parts are a bit underwhelming, the game is still a good AC game.
The only thing I didn't like about Unity was the poor multiplayer. I loved playing with my friends, sneaking around taking out entire bases undetected, but it was too repetitive. There was only one really good mission to coop, that one heist mode with the palace.
for me Black Flag had the best replay value, but the only time I remember being blown away was Brotherhood. ACIII and Unity have best settings but waste them IMO
tropicAces I actually really enjoyed AC3, I felt like Connor could’ve been portrayed and written better though, he felt a bit off at times. There was some rememberable set pieces and characters that made it feel different, I’m interested to see how Ubisoft implement the remastered version of it
I used to agree, but Origins & Odyssey are way and above better than anything that came before them. There's more depth to both the stories and the game play, there's more diverse armour that offers benefits to play style, the worlds are bigger and more detailed, the quests are more varied... the Ezio games aren't even in the same league even though they're great in their own right.
Calling Revelations "ultimately a forgettable experience" because it didn't 'innovate' got me so mad. That scene where you find Altair's skeleton still gives me chills when I think about it. The maps and the music of that game stuck with me for years.
Same, I loved Revelations. When Revelations came out I wasn't expecting some new revolutionary game mechanics, but I was looking forward to the story and the plot. Ac 2 game mechanics were already good enough.
I feel that AC Odyssey strays too far from the more realistic elements of the original line up. A lot of people like that, but not me. Even Origins doesn't stray too far from being believable. Some like the combat, but I feel it is a little....overdone with animation. Original AC had a realistic feel to the combat, but with Odyssey, you can slash and stab opponents multiple times with your power move, and not have them even flinch afterwards. I don't like that. I wish one good, well placed stab or slash meant death again. You know, like an assassin.
I’m actually happy with the changes Ubisoft after many lackluster titles had to switch it up to stay relevant. I had the most fun with odyssey after accepting it for what it was and it became my second favorite game since black flag
It was just getting repetitive. It was the same thing in different clothing. And the combat was so overly simple. I like that they have opened up the story to a larger world and actually put the technology to good use. If they didn't adapt they would have died. The older games are romanticized because we remember playing them at the time they were ground breaking and different. But the truth is when you play them now, they feel so limited. It was a good time to change.
@@jaylenblount128 Yeah everyone has their opinion and I get nostalgic too. But honestly, it's hard for me to imagine someone playing Odyssey and not enjoying it. They make good points about how it strays from the main theme. But if you are ok with that, it's so easy to enjoy.
Revelations was my favorite game of the series also. For most people it's not all that memorable, but for me there's something about it that I just loved so much.
@@morningstar7896 dude it made me wanna play it more because the story was so damn good, and tbh I liked AC 1, 2, and brotherhood but Revelations didn't even register to me I didn't buy it idk what I was thinking until my friend let me try it.
AC Revelations was a forgettable experience? To me it was best of the series, in every way it improved upon AC 2 and Brotherhood and a perfect wrapping up of Ezio's story. Also reliving the memories of Altair felt so good especially the things which were not explained in AC1. And a mature Ezio with his great quotes added alot to the experience. I played all AC games from AC1 to Origins at the end of 2017 and the one I remember the most is AC Revelations. My Ranking of AC games: 1. AC Revelations 2. AC 2 3. AC 4 Blackflag 4. AC Origins 5. AC Brotherhood 6. AC1 7. AC Unity 8. AC 3 9. AC Rogue 10. AC Liberation HD 11. AC Syndicate
Ya Revelations was probably the best way to end the Ezio storyline, raping up both ezio and Altair stories in one game was an interesting idea, and it payed off. Gameplay wise it's the best out off the 3, plus ezio actually felt like a mentor, which was awesome.
agree mostly 1. revelations 2. ac 2 3. AC 1 4. AC brotherhood 5. AC 3 6. AC blackflag 7. AC rogue 8.AC syndicate 9. AC Unity 10. origins Origins was far too different to the core of the earlier titles and felt more relatable to the witcher 3 rather than assassins creed 1 in terms of gameplay
“1191... a secret organisation known as the knights Templar” Yeah apart from the fact that in 1191 the Knights Templar were basically a rising superpower and as far as you can get from “secret” XD
I think we're past that point when it comes to this platform. His videos are just too good to get that sort of success on UA-cam in this day and age. Also the stuff he covers, retrospectives and the likes, are pretty niche for your average mainstream gamer that's also a UA-cam viewer.
@@fe1nlover911 Sure but ac odyssey isn't really an AC games, even the people that made it admitted they wrote themselves into a corner. AC origins is the last great proper ac game
I love Assassin's Creed, one of my favourite franchises, loved the Ezio trilogy and really enjoyed the Kenway trilogy, but i am to this day annoyed that they basically killed Prince of Persia to bring AC out. Would absolutely love a new Prince of Persia game. Come on Ubisoft, us PoP fans still exist!
@@AsserKortteenniemi Sure, you think doing stuff is not having a personality. Now tell me, is a personality like an invisible thing or is it a thing that has built up because of your achievements? I would say the latter. How would you judge someone's personality? By his actions or by his character? And here comes the next question. Isn't the character formed by looking at someone's actions in the past themselves? (sorry for speaking like Socrates, just speaking my mind here)
@@-hasamastersdegreeinwumbol8565 How you feel about a game is rather subjective but I don't knock anyone who like ac3 as long as they're polite with their opinions and open to new idea and or perspectives. @@liamgalwey5616 I still don't consider ac3 to be my all time favorite ac game. That goes to Black Flag for me. Hell, I think I'd even replay syndicate before I replay ac3. But I get that many people don't like it all that much. P.s: I too appreciate a nice conversation. I always roll my eyes at people who bicker on UA-cam like little kids.
@@-hasamastersdegreeinwumbol8565 Thats good for you. My version was revelations but that was years after its release but i really enjoyed it but my all time fave is Ac2.
AC Revelations was a fucking masterpiece! It has so much personality and a real storyline! The fighting system makes sense and the stealth is just overwhelming! How did we get from this to AC Odyssey ... Oh and AC Unity is actually amazing, with real assassination missions, social stealth and stealth overall. Too bad it was executed badly. Love the series tho. Also this video is so well made thx man
I felt like Revelations was good. I'm ok with not having TOO many changes in combat. I mean, the previous two games saw some improvement, but to me it was the same character and he had his own style which naturally would have carried over into Revelations.
I'd argue Revelations had the best ending in the franchise. Especially compared to Odyssey's ending... still upset that the ancient Greek setting was wasted on that game. At least Ubisoft Quebec is no longer screwing with AC.
Great video. My personal favorite is AC 2, mainly because of Jesper Kyd's phenomenal soundtrack and the way it tied the world together. It was both futuristic and archaic which is exactly what the series represents to me.
@@robertiacob2615 While the cities don't look bad they simply don't serve the parkour. The wide streets simply can't be jumper across. I find that this problem happens more and more. Ac1-Revelations,Ac4(just in havana) and Unity all had setting that allowed easy traversal in the world. Whereas Ac3,every other city in AC4,Rogue,Especially syndicate which had such a bad setting that you needed a grapple hook just to get around, origins and odyssey all have world with too many big gaps between buildings or too little buildings that do allow to have good traversal. Another thing is that Ac3 started the whole 'can't accidentally jump off a building mechanic. While yes it is annoying when you accidentally jumped off in the early games it was never because of the game it was always the players fault. While the story, character and combat are highly subjective whether the setting and/or cities serve the parkour isn't.
Loved Syndicate & would love a remaster/remake with general improvements. Especially a better combat system or at least more combat animations. Also don't understand why reviewers claim the story is 'forgetable'. It's great & one of only a couple AC games stories i remember fondly.
I'm a recent new comer to the AC franchise (just started playing AC Origins) here in August 2020. This video was very informative and helpful to get me up to speed with what's happened with this franchise up to now. Thanks for the great video.

“A forgettable experience” yea I disagree! Revelations might not have added shiny new things but it did t need to. It wrapped up a trilogy and did so very well
Even though Revelations and Black Flag are a main memory of my childhood, I think that AC 3 is the best. I've loved the scenario and the story. It whas amazing.
I remember playing AC III, I was 14 at the time. I was so excited for the native american protagonist that I got confused and really nervous because the Haytham-Storyline took so long. It got to a point where I was thinking I bought the wrong game lmao. Good times
Lmao! The same thing happened to me. I was wondering if I had the right game. The moment you realise you were playing as a templar the whole time was though , that got me!
1) AC 2 2) AC 4 Black Flag 3) AC Revelations 4) AC Brotherhood 5) AC 3 6) AC 1 Haven't played Rogue, Unity, Syndicate, or Odyssey yet. I'm in the middle of Origins so I decided not to rank it yet, but it's definitely going to be near the top. I'm loving every second of it and was not expecting it to be as good as it is. Makes me super excited to play Odyssey
This video made me fall in love with Assassin's Creed. Now I have every game. I just kinda bought most of them one day and got addicted to them. Thanks Nick😀😄
@@Shadow65863 Origins is really good, same team who made AC4 Black Flag so easily the best AC dev team. Seriously, skip Odyssey and Valhalla. They aren't AC games in the slightest and are just massive, empty maps to inflate playtime. The story isn't remotely linked to past installments either.
I watched this back when it came out before Odyssey, and I'm watching it again here before Valhalla. This video makes me desperately miss the feeling of the olde games.
@Pricey_RL Me personally I don't like Connor not because he isn't Ezio but he is written poorly. Connor had the potential to been a fantastic character but executed and wrote him him poorly. Throughout AC3 he doesn't seem to learn or have any character development even as you come to the end of the game Connor is still a young, naive, angry, idiot Haythem honestly was more likeable than Connor in my opinion.
This remains to this day my all time favorite game series. It’s the closest I’ll ever get to using a time machine! Loved the vid, can you add odyssey and Valhalla at some point and reupload? I love these retrospectives!
In Revelations they added a cool system, where you could assign recruits to bases and have them govern them. The Templars would also try and take back territory through battles, where you had to lead and place defended to stop them. There was a lot of additional features, they just kept the old ones very similar to before.
I bought Syndicate when it realeased, and I honestly grew pretty bored, as I had been playing AC games yearly so I forgot about it. A few weeks ago I found it again, and I can't express how much I'm enjoying it. Jacob's snark and cockiness is just so fun, and it contrasts so well with Evie's intelligence and finesse. The world is filled with stuff to do, and i'm finding myself really invested in Jacob and Evie. I haven't played AC since 2015 and It's like I'm having that wonder the AC games gave me as a kid again, so Syndicate might just become one of my favourites.
I recently purchased Odyssey in a Steam sale - and thoroughly enjoying it! Oddly, I purchased Rogue alongside Origins in another sale some time ago, but rather got my teeth into that older title which had an intriguing story (as the name suggests). It goes to show that all the AC games are very good to excellent. One which I'm lacking is the China-themed game that had a different approach in style.
my personal opinion is that Odyssey will be the end of the assassins creed franchise for a while, I think Ubisoft has been using the name " assassins creed" to push its tools to become an RPG without losing their fans. but now that they have done this, i think they are going to take some time off, and then come back with an entirely new IP on next gen. probably a fantasy based RPG this time complete with character creation and all the game mechanics from odyssey and origins. which would be great :)
not gonna lie, that sounds great. but I hope they still continue with AC. there are still so many great time periods for them to visit and Odyssey is not the end of the modern day story. I would love a new IP fantasy rpg, but AC can still live on.
Ever heard of Beyond Good & Evil 2 ??! I think 2019 Ubisoft will put all their time & effort to promote B&E2 & hit a release date & leave a new AC game for 2020 for the next next Gen ( PS5 & XboxTwo ) !!👌👌👍
I doubt that. They could start a new franchise of course, but it wouldn't need to be the end of AC. AC has massive value as a well known and loved brand. When you add into that the historical tourism element, you get huge sales for every new game. Why would they want to throw that away?

TO this day... AC1 still looks amazing. And when it came out... WOW. It blew me away. I'm happy to have known this series.
I have AC 1 on PS 3
Good times
I personally thought AC1 looked better then AC2
it did. I was in 9th grade. too bad the game was repetitive asf
It's probably because the gameplay was from either Xbox One X or PC.
Unity is pretty good now after all the bug fixes. It has some of my favorite combat in the franchise
The atmosphere is brutally good. I like the dark and rough touch...
I liked Unity, too. It has the second most interesting setting for me, it made the combat more challenging and it had great side missions. I absolutely loved the murder mysteries.

Unity was awesome, especially after bug fixes.
Just finished Unity and I loved it. Just 2 bugs in the entire game. Worth checking out

Sean Combs brotherhood> every other ac game
MIKEDOES couldn’t agree more.
@@kindajacked5154 Obviously Unity > Syndicate. Jacob and Evie were nice characters but the game lacked many things and didn't give the 'Assasin's Creed' feeling much.. On the other hand Unity is decent with the smoothest assasin
I feel like that game got better with time. It's evolved to be one of my favorites.
Unity actually looks real good despite everyone hating it
It's a pretty solid AC game, it's worth playing if your a fan off the series.
It had the best character customization. I loved it
When it works well it can be a fun game too but does get a bit dull and long winded with reptitive stuff.
Travis Glaze nope the time of day only changes when you fast travel.its not dynamic like the ones that came before it.
Altair got saddest life :
Lost his father from a family friend
Unknown mother
Family friend dad slit his throat when he was 10
Killed his master
Wife was murdered
Youngest son executed by best friend
Killed his best friend
I feel like his story is rivalled (if not better) by Edward, Ezio and Connor.
his mother died during childbirth. Her name was Maud, a Christian, who was married to Altair's father Umar
also Abu Sofian was just his childhood friend. His best friend and his closest ally was Rafiq, who was murdered by Abu Sofian.
@@ShaddoII xD
I’d say Connor had the saddest one. He watched his mother burn to death, killed his father, unknowingly fought for the people who burned his village and got his mother killed, had his mentor die, and really just lost everything
I still remember when Assassin's Creed and Call of Duty had some kind of a rivalry on which is more popular.

YumikoStarlight That’s a great reply, I read through all of it. That’s why ACR has to be amongst my favourite, got to play wizened Ezio and Altaïr
I have the same idea.
I didnt like Altair at all in AC1.....untill AC revelation
The amount of sacrifices he choose for the greater good of his brotherhood easily made him my second most favourite protagonist in franchise.

This AC had the best character customization if you ask me. Loved the story and play style of this game.
The only thing I didn't like about Unity was the poor multiplayer. I loved playing with my friends, sneaking around taking out entire bases undetected, but it was too repetitive. There was only one really good mission to coop, that one heist mode with the palace.
Unity's probably my favorite at the moment, loved the setting and scenery. Also the character customization was a huge highlight for me.
I don't think many considered it a bad game, most think it was badly made though. Too glitchy and rushed, but the core ideas remained interesting.

Kenway Saga ftw, i loved every game from AC3 to AC4 more than any other AC games
Brooo i was boutta dropkick my phone
I feel that AC Odyssey strays too far from the more realistic elements of the original line up.
A lot of people like that, but not me. Even Origins doesn't stray too far from being believable.
Some like the combat, but I feel it is a little....overdone with animation. Original AC had a realistic feel to the combat, but with Odyssey, you can slash and stab opponents multiple times with your power move, and not have them even flinch afterwards. I don't like that. I wish one good, well placed stab or slash meant death again. You know, like an assassin.
I agree, the new games hardly feel like AC. I enjoy them, but its not quite the same. Guess you gotta change at some point...
Justin Middleton my thoughts exactly. I tried to go back and replay the ezio trilogy and I could get half way through the first game till I was bored
@@jaylenblount128 Yeah everyone has their opinion and I get nostalgic too. But honestly, it's hard for me to imagine someone playing Odyssey and not enjoying it. They make good points about how it strays from the main theme. But if you are ok with that, it's so easy to enjoy.
revelations was my favorite based on story alone
Me too, man! The ending was incredible.
"No books... No wisdom... only you, fratello mio…" - Ezio
Revelations was my favorite game of the series also. For most people it's not all that memorable, but for me there's something about it that I just loved so much.
Austin Mantell great story but hard missions
@@morningstar7896 dude it made me wanna play it more because the story was so damn good, and tbh I liked AC 1, 2, and brotherhood but Revelations didn't even register to me I didn't buy it idk what I was thinking until my friend let me try it.
uziel900able same my cousin got me hooked on it when it came out memories
AC Revelations was a forgettable experience? To me it was best of the series, in every way it improved upon AC 2 and Brotherhood and a perfect wrapping up of Ezio's story. Also reliving the memories of Altair felt so good especially the things which were not explained in AC1. And a mature Ezio with his great quotes added alot to the experience.
I played all AC games from AC1 to Origins at the end of 2017 and the one I remember the most is AC Revelations.
My Ranking of AC games:
1. AC Revelations
2. AC 2
3. AC 4 Blackflag
4. AC Origins
5. AC Brotherhood
6. AC1
7. AC Unity
8. AC 3
9. AC Rogue
10. AC Liberation HD
11. AC Syndicate
AC1 on the 6th spot? Nope not reading this
Ya Revelations was probably the best way to end the Ezio storyline, raping up both ezio and Altair stories in one game was an interesting idea, and it payed off. Gameplay wise it's the best out off the 3, plus ezio actually felt like a mentor, which was awesome.
agree mostly
1. revelations
2. ac 2
3. AC 1
4. AC brotherhood
5. AC 3
6. AC blackflag
7. AC rogue
8.AC syndicate
9. AC Unity
10. origins
Origins was far too different to the core of the earlier titles and felt more relatable to the witcher 3 rather than assassins creed 1 in terms of gameplay
I don’t count AC Odyssey it’s not a AC game
It is though
“1191... a secret organisation known as the knights Templar”
Yeah apart from the fact that in 1191 the Knights Templar were basically a rising superpower and as far as you can get from “secret” XD
Def the best video you've ever made, only 22 min in and I can already tell!
I foresee you having 6 Mil subscribers one day. Your videos are so awesome!
I think we're past that point when it comes to this platform. His videos are just too good to get that sort of success on UA-cam in this day and age. Also the stuff he covers, retrospectives and the likes, are pretty niche for your average mainstream gamer that's also a UA-cam viewer.
Assassin’s creed was my childhood. Lots of respect ✊.
As an assassin creed fan I love all the games but black flag and origins are my favourites and will always be
Bhuvan Shingade Ashraf Ismail is our lord and savior alright :)
High-five finally someone like me
Yeah I like the unconventional ones too. Unity and Origins for me
I really miss the time when i play AC Origins i also love the game but in my opinion ac oddysey is better than ac origins

@@dean7256Connor (at least in the game) has done more than George Washington. How is that not having a personality?
@@LedgeJP Doing lots of big stuff is not a personality.
This comment was the stupidest comment ever
@@AsserKortteenniemi Sure, you think doing stuff is not having a personality.
Now tell me, is a personality like an invisible thing or is it a thing that has built up because of your achievements?
I would say the latter. How would you judge someone's personality? By his actions or by his character? And here comes the next question. Isn't the character formed by looking at someone's actions in the past themselves? (sorry for speaking like Socrates, just speaking my mind here)
Ezio's Family soundtrack for the intro.
I know I'm the only one, but I probably have the most nostalgia for ac3 because it was the first one in the franchise that I played.
no your not alone. When i find people who love ac3 most love it because it is their first. Which is expected because it is one of the highest sellers.
@@liamgalwey5616 it just kind of shows, though, that its not that bad, because if it can get a lot of people into the series, know what I'm saying?
@@-hasamastersdegreeinwumbol8565 How you feel about a game is rather subjective but I don't knock anyone who like ac3 as long as they're polite with their opinions and open to new idea and or perspectives. Which have been which I praise you for. For what ever reason the ac fan base can get quite toxic. But to answer your question yeah I totally agree.
@@liamgalwey5616 I still don't consider ac3 to be my all time favorite ac game. That goes to Black Flag for me. Hell, I think I'd even replay syndicate before I replay ac3. But I still hold ac3 in high regard for introducing, and engaging me in the franchise. I just loved the civil war atmosphere, and the graphics are just so inviting to me for some reason.
Man, I love your videos! You deserve way more views
Agree
I'd argue Revelations had the best ending in the franchise. Especially compared to Odyssey's ending... still upset that the ancient Greek setting was wasted on that game. At least Ubisoft Quebec is no longer screwing with AC.
You're right about the Unity. I love this historical period and so the game 😀
Idk why but I have always loved AC unity, from the graphics to the storyline. I love this game.
ac 3 is my favourite, i love the Kenway familly story
Best Assassin's Creed Video on UA-cam.
Great video. My personal favorite is AC 2, mainly because of Jesper Kyd's phenomenal soundtrack and the way it tied the world together. It was both futuristic and archaic which is exactly what the series represents to me.
I loooove AC3 I've completed it more times than I could possibly count
I can't enjoy its cities. Compared Holy Land, Florence, Venice, Rome and Istanbul they are horrible.
@@aresrahl4218 why you hate it? lol
Just because you don't like it, doesn't mean it's '' horrible''

And with Desmond's arc closure, the Assassin's Creed games became just plotless adventure.
Yes, and that's when i quit playing it.
Also, for the RPG part, doesn't makes me want to play it.
@@guilemaigre14 have u tried the new ones? i too was skeptic, but have grown to love odyssey, far beyond the others, imo its def worth a try. i played all the AC's, and the worst imo was revelations+origins, but odyssey was very nice.

“A forgettable experience” yea I disagree! Revelations might not have added shiny new things but it did t need to. It wrapped up a trilogy and did so very well
Thanks for not only a great video but thanks for making one that avoid spoilers.
For me my top three AC games are
AC 2
AC Black Flag
AC Origins
I think blag flag is dumb I started playing it a year ago still yet to complete
While I agree that Origins and 2 should be top three I think Black Flag is a tiny bit better than 2
I agree
I swear to god, before I graduate high school, I’m gonna replay all my favorite Assassin’s Creed games
It amazes me how well the first game has aged. Those textures are so good.
Even though Revelations and Black Flag are a main memory of my childhood, I think that AC 3 is the best. I've loved the scenario and the story. It whas amazing.
revelations a forgetable experience? I can't forget it because of that ending.
Exactly
Syndicate is my favorite...i love that old Victorian era

AC3 was so underrated at the time.
Best game of the series imo.

I preordered when I was 12. I’m 20 now
I remember playing AC III, I was 14 at the time.

1) AC 2
2) AC 4 Black Flag
3) AC Revelations
4) AC Brotherhood
5) AC 3
6) AC 1
Haven't played Rogue, Unity, Syndicate, or Odyssey yet. I'm in the middle of Origins so I decided not to rank it yet, but it's definitely going to be near the top. I'm loving every second of it and was not expecting it to be as good as it is. Makes me super excited to play Odyssey
hitdoctor24 I love AC Origins!
This video made me fall in love with Assassin's Creed. Now I have every game. I just kinda bought most of them one day and got addicted to them. Thanks Nick😀😄
Origins is so awesome if you're interested in ancient Egypt
@@Shadow65863 Origins is really good, same team who made AC4 Black Flag so easily the best AC dev team.
Seriously, skip Odyssey and Valhalla. They aren't AC games in the slightest and are just massive, empty maps to inflate playtime. The story isn't remotely linked to past installments either.
I watched this back when it came out before Odyssey, and I'm watching it again here before Valhalla. This video makes me desperately miss the feeling of the olde games.

Atelier Novotny honestly same, I loved Connor even though people say he is boring I love the fact he was Native American and used a tomahawk

AC featuring the Mongolian empire. I personally loved playing brotherhood because of how much history was accurate .
U mean altair saying 'mongols r coming, leave' for his son,
True, during Kublai Khan regime, mongol conquered assassin Castle in middle east.
'The Ghost of Tsushima' comes close to an AC game in the Mongolian empire!
AC 3 was my favorite. I don't care what anyone says. I can still replay it 15 times fully without getting bored.
16:40 really? Rev is my favorite ezio game gameplay wise. Playing ac2 and ac rev back to back, Rev is so much smother and sleeker imo
Are you sure.
I simply want them to continue the series, because I'm a huge sucker for history and games, so..
