Hey Jamie. I really enjoy your channel. Just wanted to say that I love how you're unabashed in playing whatever you like. You've reminded me of some classics, and the metal community is often too far up its own ass to appreciate good music for what it is: music. Thanks, and keep rocking man! Subscribed!
yeah iknew it was older but not by that much actually thank you, but i do understand that my comment could sound like i could be saying coal chamber copied slipknot. good riffing :-)
Yagami Raïto well then go look when it came out...and slipknot is from 1995, and coal chamber from 93. before i forget isnt from 95 go search on google or something
Halowars 244 That why I said they were ripped off from those songs, not that those songs ripped them off. I'm fully aware of the fact that Genghis Kahn's about 40 years old. Sound and tone mean absolutely nothing. Just because you play it on a modern amp with more distortion doesn't change the fact that it's a complete ripoff. The riff in Genghis Kahn is identical to the first part of the riff in Last Resort. Seriously, it's note for note perfect. There are two differences: the first note of the riff is changed to a descending bass note in the subsequent riffs in Last Resort, and Iron Maiden played a couple of notes on higher strings. The notes remain the same though. They didn't even bother to change the key or octave or anything, just slow it down a little. As for the Loco/Before I forget similarities, that one's more likely to be a coincidence, it's a pretty generic chord sequence. Last Resort is so blatant that it's embarrassing though.
Wow so this just popped up in my recommended videos. Amazing to see how far you've come from this and how much more personality you bring now. Good stuff.
I would like to compose with someone down to earth like u. I watch this video of yours the second one. I can already say youll be a good friend. Keep on the good work
SOAD is nu metal with alt metal elements. This is the best soad genre explanation. I was looking for an answer for over 13 years and this is the answer.
I know this is only a small thing, but I really liked the fact that you edited the video to say the name of the songs between each instead of playing everything in a single long string.
Jamie Oldfield yeah many put them in nu metal cus of that tho we all have our sense of music generes so some like to say they are real nu metal tho i kinda find limp bizkit, korn and linkin park and the rep metal defining the genre. anyway.... btw cool video :)
Thanks for uploading this video. I really liked it. I am a classical guitar musician and this video has inspired me to buy an electric guitar in the future to play these fabulous songs!
Toxicity guitar distortion jump scared me.
It sounds so weird without the drums

Nu Metal is burned in my memory. I was like in 12 grade when that style hit the peak.
Thank you for the covers. Those songs is what I grew up with.
Great guitar skills and didn't act like a middle school kid. Love it!

Now that you point it out, yes.
The pikachu behind him
great job on "Left Behind"
Thanks mate! I did a whole lesson on it :)
You're welcome. I already know how to play most of those songs, but I will check it out. Maybe I might have learned it differently.
I knew Left Behind was going to be on here and I'm so fucking glad it was. One of my all time favorite riffs. good shit dude
Left behind is one of the best songs ever TBH. It's my favorite on IOWA
+Derek Hearne 100% my favourite SlipKnoT song
Coal Chamber is one of my all time favorite nu metal bands
Thanks mate. Appreciate it! My gf was a big fan of them back in the day
same
GREAATTTT, I LOVE THISSSSS. Well, Papa Roach plays Last Resort in Drop D but whatevaaaaaa. It's all goooodddddd
Hey Jamie. I really enjoy your channel. Just wanted to say that I love how you're unabashed in playing whatever you like. You've reminded me of some classics, and the metal community is often too far up its own ass to appreciate good music for what it is: music.
Thanks, and keep rocking man! Subscribed!
Thanks mate. Really appreciate that comment. I enjoy playing riffs I like!
How can people say nu metal sucks after hearing these riffs played bare like this? So creative and heavy! Great video
1:42 a ghost moves the guitar :)
+thrashgame haha oh nooooo 👻😖😭😭😭
jamie oldfield ahah :) oh and good guitar :) I have a Ibanez RG370FMZ TGB
+thrashgame thanks mate. Yeah I like it. Feels super thin when I go from one to the other though lol
jamie oldfield yeah ahah :)
What is your favorite band ? Guitar ?
+jamie oldfield hell yeah some coal chamber
Glad to see Left Behind on there.. sounded great, loved the panning of both guitars with 'faint' haha
Dude...Great sound and perfectly played!
Thanks mate. I really appreciate it
jamie oldfield :)
You literally included my favorite songs XD I listen mostly to Korn, Slipknot and Disturbed but man that shit's awesome!
+Nikola Markovic haha thanks! I appreciate it
i didnt realise how similar loco was to before i forget :/
Crazy isn't it!! Coincidence???
Trystan Hooper loco came out 7 years before "before i forget"
yeah iknew it was older but not by that much actually thank you, but i do understand that my comment could sound like i could be saying coal chamber copied slipknot. good riffing :-)
Trystan Hooper actually Before i forget is taken from a 95' song in the "Crowz" record by slipknot
It's that type of riff that alot of nu bands use, you can hear that same sounding riff in other songs too
slipknot, korn, S.O.A.D, and papa roach, perfect vid
Mudvayne isn't in the description lol tricky tricky
smelly ass
so 11 riffs? :p
i gave one away for free!
Mannnn, your tone is soooooo damn good I'm replaying the vid
Thanks!! My favorite thing is good tone
Coal Chamber! Fuck yeah!
That one almost sounded like Before I Forget when he started playing it
That's because it's pretty much the same riff
hell yeah
Dillon Thompson I thought I was the only one that thought that
Good vid and well played mate!
That coal chamber riff sounded like Before I Forget-Slipknot
+Ricky Jørgensen yeah it totally does!!
Ricky Jørgensen let me tell u a secret
Loco:1997
Before i forget:2004
Satan let me tell you a secret
Before i forget: 95
Coal chamber: 97 ;)
Yagami Raïto well then go look when it came out...and slipknot is from 1995, and coal chamber from 93. before i forget isnt from 95 go search on google or something
Yagami Raïto and its from vol.3 so it cant be from 1995
very tight, dry and percussive tone. i like bit
but muddy distortion
You finally had a good list, man. I'm so happy :)
Omg... Dig sounded great!
I, L.D 50, am very impressed.
Good quality of mastering & nice play & good selection of groups in a genre ! Real pleasure man !
Before I forget -> Loco
Last Resort -> Genghis Khan (Iron Maiden)
What?
Halowars 244 The riffs from Before I forget and Last Resort were ripped off from the songs I mentioned above.
+leerobbo92 I hear no correlation in the two comparisons. You are exaggerating.

+leerobbo92 as I said in my last comment. There is no correlation between the two songs. Completely different.
dude you deserve over 100k. youre even better than those people that play the wrong chords and call that a song #jamieoldfieldislife
Haha thanks mate. Means a lot!!! Really appreciate it
Is it just me or did Slipknot plagiarise the Coal Chamber riff in Before I Forget?
Tyler Jay Before i forget came from a 95 song, so no :)
@@befrnigel actually, loco was written in 1994.
Dude!!! You need more subscribers than what you have!!! Your videos are great!
Your playing really good but that amp tone tho.
ik!
What is with it?
David Guerrero Its stale and flat. Must be a shitty little amp he using just for showing the riffs.
Sounds like a modelling amp
cein o'dowd
What is modelling amp? like a fashion statement ;] but srsly
Wow so this just popped up in my recommended videos. Amazing to see how far you've come from this and how much more personality you bring now. Good stuff.
Dude how have you got just over 1k subs you should have hundreds of thousands
Aww thanks :)
I do really enjoy listening to you, man, good job!
I learned to play guitar with these songs also
Nostalgia!
You have a great taste men! You are growing on me!! I like your tone a lot!
Thanks bro!
Nice playing actually!
But too much gain...
much like nu metal I guess...
+Tesla yep
+Tesla not even nu metal has this much gain
His distortion sounds disgusting indeed. Needs to drop gain and put more compression.
I agree, the distortion is too muddy
all favorite songs of mine growing up. great playing man. keep on rocking
Aww that's great. In glad you like it!! Thanks for watching
No Deftones?
Cool riffs awesome guitars and Pokemon cards in the background I couldn't ask for more great job Jamie :)
+nicklas rothmann haha thanks!! I appreciate it
That Pokemon cards tho xdd
Such a nice songs dude.
Haha thanks!!
Actually, I like that Pikachu on the righthand side much more!
Good stuff man!!
I figured alien ant farm were pop punk. I've seen them lumped in with sum 41 and other bands like them.
Phillip Clark both of them have done nu metal stuff
Got the Schecter C-1, FRS , with a sustainiac in gthe neck / EMG81 in the bridge , and a floyd rose bridge.
1:42 The riff was so heavy it moved his guitar!
thank you for making a riff video on my favorite genre 😁
But "Down with the sickness" playing on drop d
These are really cool, keep em coming man!
aww what about the Deftones?
+Christian Tovar I made them their own video 😊
My own summer definately falls in this list perfectly
@MZ1_9-9_5 And Andrenaline, and just two or three for WP
awesome video. you get some really great tones out of that guitar. keep up the great work.
Thanks mate!
For some reason this guy reminds me of marina Joyce
+JOIBUS haha surpriiiise
JOIBUS he's kidnapped with lots of guitars. Help him #savethisguy
JOIBUS o my God, yes, I see it
I just came across your channel. Love it man. Also loving your card collection and Pikachu on the sides there... :)
thanks!
That's the 100th time i'm watching this video.😂😂
+Δημητρης Κολιοπουλος haha really?? Have you seen the new one???
Jamie Oldfield Yeah!!
Fun video! Very good picks!!.
that noise gate sounds odd...
I didnt know Marilyn Manson was a little bit of Nu metal, though I'm not surprised by the guitar work
Blind's riff sounds a lot like God of the Mind by Disturbed.
Blind was made before David draiman had pubes
I feel like an idiot for asking but I haven't played guitar in a long time... what's the green thing you have on near the head of the LTD?
It muffles any unwanted sound :)
really does prove that nu metal riffing was the gateway for non guitar players...
Your hair is majestic good sir. Excellent riffing!
Thanks!! :)
Also you blink...a lot!
Did he blink 182 times??
+Blxck Diamxndz no get out XD
prob just has dry eyes
Gotta wet dem eyes pal!
Awesome playing and awesome tone!
I doesn’t have My own summer or Root on the list :(
My own summer is definitely an iconic riff!
Your playing Is sick dude! Going to subscribe for sure!
Thanks mate. Appreciate it!!
Onto how the Coal Chamber song sounds like Slipknot before I forget...
iFieldyy loco:1997
Before i forget:2004
Fieldy before u say something play some bass ;)
Satan I actually do play bass ;) so it's all gooooooood
iFieldyy i was saying that because your name is fieldy...the base player from korn :P
Satan Before i forget: 95
Loco: 97 ;)
I'm watching this laughing thinking.. what has scuzz/kerrang done to us! Love it man 😆
Papa roach stole that riff from tourniquet's Ark of suffering (3:17)
humanity stole music from pythagoras
+Rumford Chimpenstein pythagoras stole it from jezus
I would like to compose with someone down to earth like u. I watch this video of yours the second one. I can already say youll be a good friend. Keep on the good work
As usual slipknot slays everything
else...and also you played 11 riffs.
One for free
Nice selections! Well played.
+Mark Torres aww thanks!!
ur pick is like jhon cena,i cant see him
My pickup?? Or my plectrum??
Why cant you see John Cena?
think they are talking about the guitar at like 4 minutes which has a missing pickup
m8 this is too dank for this comment section
Your tone is GODLY.
+Big Boy Biggins aww thanks. I appreciate it. It's something that I put a lot of effort into :)
+jamie oldfield God I hope the joke didn't go over your head....
+Bill Rowse joke? They weren't being serious?
jamie oldfield I wasn't joking at all I love your tone.
+Big Boy Biggins aww thanks!

YEAHH DISTURBED !!!
Well played, nice tone, nice guitars!
:)
I can see a creepy Pikachu behind your shoulder
Haha yes. I have lots of creepy pikachu!
High quality and very well put together. You deserve more subs.
+Some Guys Gaming thanks :)
Dude, turn down gain..
It's nu-metal, it's supposed to have too much gain.
yep its nu metal the guitar should have more gain to make the sound heavier
So sick man! Honestly wish I could be that good 🤘🏻
Brad Davies Theres no technically impressive riff in this video at all... You only won't be this good if you try really hard
Since when is Manson Nu metal?? Just no..
My exact thoughts
Same for SOAD ^^
+yannic231 SOAD is nu metal
+yannic231 bro soad is nu metal
+SenselessBonkai actually system is more an experimental band...like they didn't stick to one thing just about every song sounded different
Amazing work
Thanks mate!
toxicity --> nu metal.
ooooookay....
SOAD is nu metal with alt metal elements. This is the best soad genre explanation. I was looking for an answer for over 13 years and this is the answer.
I know this is only a small thing, but I really liked the fact that you edited the video to say the name of the songs between each instead of playing everything in a single long string.
Aww thanks. I was worried it wouldn't look as good if I did it that way?
system of a down is not numetal
+Aggbala oh really? What are they
Jamie Oldfield alternative metal
+Aggbala my bad. I just put them in the nu metal genres because they were around the same time as all these bands
Jamie Oldfield yeah many put them in nu metal cus of that tho we all have our sense of music generes so some like to say they are real nu metal tho i kinda find limp bizkit, korn and linkin park and the rep metal defining the genre. anyway.... btw cool video :)
Not really
That Toxicity part when he hits it hard fucking blew my ears out.
Haha sorry #RIPheadphones. I'm working on it for my new videos! 🙇🏼🙇🏼🙇🏼
turn down your gain. way too fizzy.
Thanks for the input!
Good list.
My personal favorites are falling away from me and blind by korn, and psychosocial by slipknot.
I like the music choices. Guy seems like a super nice dude. But this is still super cringe.
+James Deal haha I know 😭
Just saying "cringe" is well... You said it
Thanks for uploading this video. I really liked it. I am a classical guitar musician and this video has inspired me to buy an electric guitar in the future to play these fabulous songs!
+The Tito TV Show aww thanks! That really means a lot. I'm glad I could help inspire you!
Love the track down with the sicknesses it’s epic
Great playing! Cool guitars also!
men!! that distortion kicking in at toxicity was super tight¡
What an awesome list!
im proud of you, you featured mudvayne and papa roach
