Happy birthday to the master of Bel Canto and melody, Vincenzo Bellini. His music is quite simply unexplainable. His elegant, soulful, poignant, regal and melancholy melodies create opulent operas full of life. Beautiful, moving, pretty, tragic; call his operas whatever you like, but they give you everything you ever needed from an opera (although his works are much more than operas, but whole universes). But all this prettiness and melody talking should not take away from how difficult Bellini's music is to sing and act. Vocally, his music is extremely challenging, for example the whole role of Norma or the three famous trills in Beatrice di Tenda; and in terms of acting and interpretation his works are so extremely fragile and specific that you can easily destroy them with a wrong nuance or a small mistake. His works require purity, extreme technique, great interpretational skills and so on. Thank you Maestro for your great contribution to the world of music, in only your 34 years.
For me , he is the greatest composer ever. What a genius he was ! So sad , he left the earth too soon , like Maria Malibran and our beloved Divina ... This is my favourite overture . I feel like it captures Norma's emotions very well - strong , fierce yet so tender . Thanks for the post 😊😊😊.
