Truly a beautiful piece of cinema! Acting and directing was incredibly jaw-dropping. If a movie is able to encapsulate you into its movie, and allow you to just for one second, leave the real realm, and even feel a part of the movie itself, this makes all the difference to a movie. The art of Thrillers is truly fascinating that requires great skill to pull off. If you have yet to watch it, 100% recommend it! You will not be disappointed.

  • @WordUnheard
    @WordUnheard 3 роки тому +22

This started out really good, but devolved into nonsense and frustration. The entire plot only exists because the parents were not responsible enough to make certain that their child had (SPOILER) his insulin. Why in the world would you trust a kid that young to be responsible for his life-saving meds? Also, you find out that the people chosen were selected not only for their use, but because they were in great health. There would be no lifetime supply of insulin for the kid. What happens when they run out?
From there, it was one ridiculous obstacle after another. I wish it had maintained the tone that the first 20 minutes set up, but it had my attention and my interest. Instead, it decided to become almost as silly as 2012 was.

    • @sm_t8262

I really loved this movie. I think they made some ballsy choices, like letting the kid get kidnapped.
It wasn't a perfect movie. The very end was unrealistic, and what were they planning to do with their diabetic son if they made it out of the shelter alive? All the pharmacies got vaporized.
Having said that, it was exciting, sometimes surprising, and it didn't (for the most part) treat the audience like idiots.

I feel like there’s been a load of these movies where it’s the end of the world and a family needs to get to a type of bunker

And how exactly did the diabetic kid survive 9 months witthout insulin? Remember, no disease meds at the shelter, everybody selected as disease free

Around 90 I was rebuilding a Presidential bunker. At the big blast door was a list giving the priority of who to allow in. I don't remember who all was on it. But it was comforting to see that I was in the top 10 trades. After that I started carrying my license.

I loved this film!!! One Scene messed me up so bad tho. I cried my eyes out!
Really good film I recommend it, I just wasn’t so alright about the ending.
Overall I thought it was brilliant!
Better than most of the other disasters movies

Why does no one talk about all the people who would have survived that Gerard Butler injured or killed, through his actions.
The first plane he was on would have been in the air or close to take off when the base got overrun. So all those people would have survived.
The pilots on the last plane they were on probably would have survived if it wasn't for the extra weight and time Gerard Butler's family added.
And although I give him a bit of a pass on this one, The fight in the truck that ended up killing of these two people would have never have happened if he had covered up his bracelet from the beginning.

My only problem with this is the huge setup with this kid having diabetes being a problem and it literally doesn't matter in the end.

Yeah it was the perfect at home flick, if I had seen it at the movies I probably would've expected a little more of it. The CGI was a bit MEH at times, I wish they had cut the movie right before they opened the bunker at the end, maybe given us audio of them walking towards the door and maybe some birds chirping instead, saved on the CGI bill and used that throughout the movie. Nevertheless, it was good. Nothing bad or amazing.

4:28 I remember watching this with my mother and being in Florida we criticized the movie so much on how actual Floridians would act during a whole end-of-the-world crisis. Looting yes, roof parties may be, and generally, we were expecting way more fires, explosions, and riots XD

This movie was trash. First of all, the kid and Johns's wife SUCKED. They always got them into trouble, like going around to get his insulin while John is already getting it. Or like them opening the backpack to get a blanket and dropping his insulin, they sucked so much and were nothing but liabilities. Also would like to point out that it said the five stations were in Greenland but were actually around the world. And finally, so they had shelter in like Sydney Australia, and New Delhi India, but in North America, specifically the USA, they had to go to GREENLAND? Also if people who couldn't go to Greenland should try to get to at least VERY northern Canada and try to get to Cornwalls island, which is very northern but has a small town. This movie sucked.

the one thing I am really hating with action movies is all the kids have asthma or diabetic and always forget the meds. and the mom should have stayed quite in the car when they got a ride.
