This is one of the things I love about playing EVE. When I first started playing, I was flying my first ship which is super tiny. I had a friend who was showing me around the game when we ran into a Titan. It was a Gallente Titan, and compared to my ship it was enormous. When I saw it I was like, "Holy fucking shit!" It was great.
I still love the way this illustrates the scale of the things. If you had a model of a Magnate that was a fairly chunky desktop model an Avatar would be bigger than a bus!

This is a verryyyy well done video, the music and the ambiance the room gives. Perfectly conveys the grandeur of the ships and really puts us back in perspective when you are flying one of those big mofoes.
...wow. The Avatar is absolutely massive! And nice work on importing the models mate, they look fantastic. When Tyrannis comes out you should do this again with even more ships, the updated textures in Tyrannis will help tonnes too.
There are definite benefits, some rather massive ones depending on the ship (One of those large ships listed was a freighter) But they also make you a juicy target if your just trying to roam around solo and pick off other pilots.
Absolutely amazing video. I can now grasp the scale of the ships properly thanks to you. All that zooming in and out makes it hard to tell sometimes. :)
Awesome video. When i seen this video years ago it made me go back to try EVE online again for a second time (tried a trial some time before that shortly), still playing uptill today since. I would really like to see more of these videos.
Every time I see a vid like this it gets me stoked about playing eve!!but then I play and I find my self bored out if my mind...traveling from gate to gate 10 times just to turn in a mission gets old...but I have to give eve props for it scale and uniqueness.
Outstanding vid! Wish you could see the table with the human on it and the Avatar next to each other just to get the feel of how tiny one human being can be... *g*
Hey chill man im an Amarr fan and yet i find it funny of the jokes they make of the avatar... its normal, childish but its these simple things that make the little EVE world enjoyable and fun
I like the look of eve and the sound of it's music, it's just I'd love to be off exploring abandoned space stations in it, doing surveys of planets, meeting alien races face to face, experiencing mysterious alien artefacts, having a crisis on board a space ship as someone is the carrier for a mysterious space plague, which mutates and melts everyone rather than flying around playing war.
Ships in EVE are mechanically hooked up to the pilot via a goo filled pod. This allows the ship to react as fast as the pilot can think. However many ships have small skeleton crews that handle tasks such as loading and ejecting cargo or reloading guns.
great work! keep it up :) hopefully you'll get around and make something like that for all the other ships...it's only a couple more, you can easily tank those^^ one minor whine from me: can you make the camera penning slower? the details are awesome and i would realy like to appreciate them at their fullest :)
Only "too impractical" for people who need instant gratification. There is so much great game play in EvE without needing to be one of the old-guard or elites. I was having a blast my first week, zipping around and helping my corporation while still flying a "lowly" destroyer (takes about one day to train and earn/buy one.) If you like sci-fi, spaceships, and about as open sandbox as they come, you'll enjoy EvE. Most people who have played for years aren't even interested in flying titans.
Actually, it's kind of interesting. The way that ships are flown in EVE is that they are plugged directly into the neurological systems of your pilot and all systems on the ship are controlled by your brain functions, which means that yes, with the proper knowledge you could actually fly a Titan alone in this universe! :D
Wonderful video displaying these ships. Have you done any faction specific work? Would be a kick to see them import this video into the game to show players how to progress to bigger ships. Calling a ship a certain name doesn't give players an idea of just how massive or minuscule your ship really is, if its the same size in the hanger no matter what you do at default zoom. Would love to see a Caldari build of this, but thats personal preference.
Cool display. They certainly have created some nice designs. Though I would have liked if the biggest ship wouldn't look like a weird rock and more like a techno-ship like the Providence where you can actually fly into its geometrical details and caverns.
Man, I love the Amarr ships. They just look beautiful and angelic...except for the Crucifier, which looks like a bird with a broken wing, and maybe the Avatar, because it looks like it was designed by Sigmund Freud. Still, beautiful craft. I want me an Abaddon...
the video that shows these ships in the crysis game editer really shows better how crazy huge these ships are. check it out its really cool. the size of the avatar will blow your mind
You just said it, Coated. They could be built of a much stronger plasteel or tritanium alloy, but just painted gold. Think of them as the slaver-made Rolls Royce that are stuck in the 50's.
I agree. The only disagreement I have is with the OP comment of them being "...too impractical." They have their place and purpose, but yes; for the most part, they'll only be used by big corps/alliances. Other capital ships are typically sighted much more regularly in EvE.
i like it, just try not to get a mirror image of the ships, Omen and Cruci are both mirrored. Then again its nothing a small image swap wont fix. Awesome work by the way
@londomollari The avatar is one of the largest ships in EVE. It is a Titan-class ship from the Amarr race (the others are the Gallente Erebus, Caldari Leviathan and Minmatar Ragnarok). They do indeed take hundreds, if not thousands, of man-hours to build. Also, the avatar was the first Titan lost in battle (it might not have been its first battle, however). In EVE, 90% of everything is produced by the players, including these enormous capital and supercapital ships.
the entire shop is piloted by 1 player, in a pod that does everything. there is no one else on board. no npc's, nothing other than the pod with you in it

feels very clinical clean which is a good futuristic affect and it presents the ships sizes very well. good vid.

That's pretty impressive modelling
or animation or whatever you did, cause even if you didn't model it, still
@@armorhide406 Its completely animated.
Very nice video man, very nice to show the sheer size of some of these ships!
1:09 I LOVE the design of the Providence!
the epic designs of the ships and the sizes have made me to look at eve online, first i thought it would be boring... now i see it could be fun.
...wow. The Avatar is absolutely massive! And nice work on importing the models mate, they look fantastic. When Tyrannis comes out you should do this again with even more ships, the updated textures in Tyrannis will help tonnes too.

The detail on that gray table is outstanding.
Great work!
Absolutely amazing video. I can now grasp the scale of the ships properly thanks to you. All that zooming in and out makes it hard to tell sometimes. :)
Looks great dude, did a good job with it. really puts it in perspective
1:25 "whoa! that's a big ship!" O.o
1:32 "HOLY SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT!" >8O
this is awesome! The ships size always tickled my fantasy and this is gorgeous work
Good video, needs a banana for scale though.
somebody called?
9gagger.
Awesome video.

I would really like to see more of these videos.
Really great video! Thanks for posting. It fully conveys the scale of these beauties and makes me want to get home to play EVE Online again :-)
What is so nice about those huge ships is they look like asteroids that were fashioned into ships !
Every time I see a vid like this it gets me stoked about playing eve!!but then I play and I find my self bored out if my mind...traveling from gate to gate 10 times just to turn in a mission gets old...but I have to give eve props for it scale and uniqueness.
The Quafe billboard was a nice touch.
wicked video bro, Well done , CCP should pay you
These are very good, and MAN those things are HUGE!!
wow! Very very well done. Its great to have a good idea of how big these ships are!
Very good work i love the whole video. Really good zoom out in the end as well. Kudos
You did a splendid job, bud. I hope to find more vids in the future.
Look at that detail on the models!!! amazing!!!!!
Great video, really nice work.
Beautifully done illustration.
Sweeeeet! I like it alot, and the colors look bang on to me! Keep up the good work!
Excellent vid. Your choice of music was also excellent.
Excellent choice of music. CCP should contract that guy, Max Richter, for one expansion.
That table sure makes frigates look small. Still loving the video, its awesome
I love it how you use mostly Amarr ships =)
Dude this is an amazing video, exactly what I was looking for! Hope you could find/make another one.
Excellent work. I'm sure everyone would love if you made videos for the other races as well!
Hey, awesome video. Thanks for the blurb on how you did it.
no way max richter. blue notebook. good choice and sick vid!!!!
Outstanding vid!
Wish you could see the table with the human on it and the Avatar next to each other just to get the feel of how tiny one human being can be... *g*

i think you did a bang-up job... now i need to go play some eve...see you in new eden
I love the Amarr bias
Awesome looking presentation, good work!
That's a load of my mind. Thanks for this.
there's only ONE thing to say about this video:
MOTION SICKNESS!
Ships in EVE are mechanically hooked up to the pilot via a goo filled pod. This allows the ship to react as fast as the pilot can think. However many ships have small skeleton crews that handle tasks such as loading and ejecting cargo or reloading guns.

one minor whine from me: can you make the camera penning slower? the details are awesome and i would realy like to appreciate them at their fullest :)
Beautifully done.
Amazing, another video of the other 3 races would be great!
Nice job mate. this looks really nice :)
Ship classes would have been good reference point for people unfamiliar with the game.
you've been favorited CCP. kudos, man.

Very well made video thanks
Very well done on the camera work!
Nice Work.
Wish the ships would look like that in EVE :).
great vid 5stars, i'd love to see the other races too

That was FREAKIN awesome!!!
wow that Avatar looks like a god damn space station
Well made, and btw they are are redoing all the models and improving the textures, starting with the scorpion ;)
I love Amarr ships best they look beautiful. Nice vid ^^
That was a very nicely put together video, thanks.
+1 internets
Titans are crazy as hell!
Very nice, well made. Now lets see Gallente :)

man, your videos are outstanding !
I'd like to see another human right under the revelation as a reminder of size.
That was awesome. Definitely put up your game name - I'd send quite a few ISK your way!

the crucifier model looks nice

I like the general look of them. The Magnate in particular.
what is the music
That's cool stuff. I'd love to see a Caldari version or even a station comparison.
You just said it, Coated.
They could be built of a much stronger plasteel or tritanium alloy, but just painted gold.
Think of them as the slaver-made Rolls Royce that are stuck in the 50's.
"This video what brought to you by Quafe!"
THATS A FREAKING HUUUUGE TABEL!
awesome video definetly want to c the other major factions
I agree. The only disagreement I have is with the OP comment of them being "...too impractical." They have their place and purpose, but yes; for the most part, they'll only be used by big corps/alliances. Other capital ships are typically sighted much more regularly in EvE.
Great video... You definatly need a Caldari and Minmitar video too.
great job and great initiative
i like it, just try not to get a mirror image of the ships, Omen and Cruci are both mirrored. Then again its nothing a small image swap wont fix. Awesome work by the way
it's like a drunk guy with a handycam stumbling around an art gallery
That was a beauty.
Very cool compilation.
Nice video ! EVE ftw ! Bump !
epic work , VERY good job!
Nicely done!
Thats an awesome video man
