Fat Electrician crapping on the Kettenkrad was completely uncalled for. The more correct description would be: "what if I want my motorcycle to tow a howitzer over rough terrain", and that´s really cool, and it was also really useful historically speaking.
I think you would enjoy his video on the Bazooka Tank (M50 Ontos). A vehicle that was designed by regular soldiers with the help of farmers. A real case of what would it be like if we took two things not originally meant to be together and combined them.
And yet another lunchtime treat for me! I haven't heard of this beast before, love it! The best i see here in the upper Midwest of the states is on weekends, old men who have lost their driver license get " liquor cycles" and cruise to the drive up liquor, cigarette store😊 i wish i were kidding. Vespas are cool rides here. Cant go wrong with the fat electrician, have a happy, fun weekend everyone and remember, the allies are still undefeated, back to back world war champs😊. Thank you as always for the video and thoughtful commentary
5:48 Maybe now, but not back in early 20th century, and especially not during WW1. Paris is about 200km away from Belgian border, and over 300km from nearest German border. That may be an hour away for an airplane, but its 4 hours for a truck, or at least 6 hours for a tank, or 10 days for the infantry. And that´s just the time needed for relocation in peace time, not counting in any fighting. In fact, its about the same distance as from pre-WW2 Poland into Berlin, or from Belgium to London (over sea). France is really not small by any metric. Especially not in Europe.

A typical target for a "bazooka vespa" would be the soviet T-55. T-55 was not particularly pricy, but still much pricier than the vespa. HOWEVER... Its not only about the costs, otherwise wooden sticks would win most wars. Or bare hands for that matter. Its about practical usability. And what tank does is that it brings a universal heavy weapon with a decent all-around shielding on a self-propelled carriage capable of crossing rough terrain. If you compare it with the vespa, that is a vehicle that doesnt bring a universal heavy cannon (as the recoilless rifle is quite niche in its usability), doesnt bring any armor, and is incapable of crossing rough terrain.
Not for nothing, but the Kettenkrad was actually made as a tractor for towing guns and stuff for the German Airborne...and it could actually fit inside the German Junkers JU-52 transport...though it was delivered by the aircraft NOT dropped by air under a parachute.
How does the second crewman keep up with the Vespa? Simple in a very Gallic solution the second crewman is given 50 francs and expected to go to a nearby village and buy a bicycle from someone and then pedal furiously to catch up with the Vespa. Blague à part, do you know how the Vespa paratroopers did in battle in Algeria?
Do you know weirder military inventions?
How could it get more weird? lol
Guess I'll look around, but it's unlikely that a more odd military vehicle will appear.

Thank you I was wrong too then, I appreciate the correction 👍

@@pamforrester844 I just googled "liquor cycle", epic 🤣 thank you and have a nice week-end
You have to admit, the picture of the guy riding that thing is cool - but you have to be careful when you fire the thing.
100% agree with both points!

Haha good one! Actually aucune idée about how they performed but I don't think the algerian rebels had a lot of tanks...
Didn't they invent a shotgun that fired round corners, that's pretty weird.
I think it does exist and that must be pretty useful to clear a trench!
Hi! I'd like to recommend the video "100 Greatest Generals in History" by Cottereau. I think you would have interesting comments.
Thank you I think I already saw a couple of videos from this channel, nice!
Why don't Master Card and Visa work well in France? A. They do not know how to say "CHARGE!"
