- When you think of American E-Bells, a rectangular shape wouldn’t be the first thing that comes to mind. These square bells were made by ASC before they could roll the metal into cylinders. The bell construction is made entirely out of basic sheet metal and is very lightweight. A circle is cut out at the bottom so that the bell can be placed onto signal poles.
These bells are almost entirely KCS exclusive, save for one in Fort Collins, CO which was installed by the BN.
The circuit board was made by Tenelex Industries and utilized the common GS Type 1 tone. Unfortunately the board on this bell is heavily damaged and a replacement GS Type 1 board was necessary.
I was lucky to find this bell laying on the ground next to a signal at a KCS crossing. The bell was replaced by an NEG E-Bell.
As of the date this video was published, there are about 15 of these bells remaining in the USA. As far as I know, none made it outside the USA. Because of their rarity, I don’t know of anyone else who owns one of these bells.
I don’t own the music but I do own all the pictures and clips.
Just 4 years before this video was uploaded we thought it was a Harmon bell. Now someone has one in there possession.
Pretty awesome you can get your hands on this rare bell!
Super happy to see it working again very rare bell !😊
A time when E Bells were appreciated at the same level as mechanical bells
That's a very nice video of the electric bell.
Very cool looking bell! While it's unfortunate you couldn't fix the OEM board, it's nice to hear it running with a close equivalent!
Cool bell 🔔 😎
Great design 👌
Amazing bell! Love the design, too!
Can’t wait for the prototype bell
If anyone was wondering. 0:40 Bell starts. 0:58 Bell stops ringing
Cool bell and music
Awesome bell!
It honestly surprises me that these weren’t popular bells, i mean… this bell is quite unique in its own way. And It is cool that the lore behind this bell has been solved as well. Can i also ask as to what crossing this came from?
Still a few of these hanging out on the KCS in Arkansas and Oklahoma.
My new alarm to wake me up
Wow I thought this bell was never going to be identified.
I still remember when we first saw this bell and we all thought it was a Harmon. Lol
I think this is considered the first generation ASC E-bell.
Very cool
Wow, Real cool
Sound like a GS type 1
The music almost sound like TPOT voting music lol
❤
That is so cool I’m curious to ask where did you find the replacement GS type 1 circuitboard?
From the Type 1 I’ve had for a few years now.
@@upking9080 I was just curious cause I was thinking about getting one is there a place that sells GS circuit boards?
Gsi: GET THAT MOTHERFU**ING COMPANY SUIEDDD!!!!!!!!!!!!! >:O
Dude how do you get these crazy bells?
Sounds like gs type 1
How do you get these bells man?
KCS left this one on the ground after replacing it with an NEG E-Bell.
Me: jealous
sounds like a Siemens bell.
I THOUGHT AMERICAN SIGNAL CORP MADE THESE💀💀
What happened to the board?
