The scariest thing is when you spawn on a floor that gives you no map, and get lost for long enough the reaper starts coming for you, at that point it's a horror game
Tbf I think it might as well be a horror game. The overarching theme of death, the fact that the first block had blood all over the place, and you are fighting in the night. I feel like Atlus just said "Hey, let's make a horror game our next Persona installment"
each floor isnt even that big, and works the same like mementos except in mementos you move faster and sometimes futaba scan the map for you and thats it lol
You can just sacrifice a member to distract it and you run away
@@luisbonano3228 So I've been playing P3 these days and there was a moment where the Death would keep re-appearing RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME every time I ran away from him 😂
No yeah I book it out of the dark rooms so damn fast. Not dealing with that while I'm only level 35.
No myraid truths can save you now
They’re just gonna add “The Great Seal” as an attack like they did w/ Izanagi 😂
*Sinful Shell looking at a wealth hand:*
Armaggedon has entered the chat
Never used myriad truths personally, so I guess I'll be fine
I never used it until the final boss
I'ma fight this shadow
Damn I'm tired
Damn yukari is tired
Damn junpei is tired
Yukari is too tired to get up.
Well F-....
Glad that system is gone 😂
@@insertnamehere2022 it should've stayed
@@LuNa_097 I agree and disagree with this ... high difficulty should add this but for normal and below it should be fine not having it
@@insertnamehere2022 I mean, if you went against the reaper with everyone tired, that's on you. And you could use itens to escape. It wasn't a bad system, it kept the player on edge... at least on the begining.
Me realizing I have to climb all 264 floors of Tartarus again when reload comes out
Not as painful as playing the answer
@@Bongbongoealizing Im gonna be the person that will grind for fams save file because they think I like torturing myself with exploration and persona crafting
do you really have to walk all those floors in p3? 💀
@@primeoctober played p3p
Y e s
It sucks because you run through the same room (different layout) again and again with miniboss sprinkled throughout.
@@Bongbongo hope they add the answer as dlc in a year
Mitsuru: "Babe it's 12am. Time for your Tartarus session!"
"Yes honey"
This is why i love Mitsuru
It be like that. Annoying. I'll go when I feel like it. I finish up pretty quickly to where I still get 3 weeks of free time 😅.
@@wonder777warrior6 Yeah she is just worried the team might get rusty but hey I'd let her climb my Tartarus any day!
I am still haunted by the one time I stepped away to grab the mail and a snack during a Tartarus run only to return after barely three minutes to a KIA team, a locked on Reaper, and FEMC at 60 HP. Terrifying stuff.
Sound like u can't even put pause cuz the game in dungeon be rolling still
@@drlovec6925 you can, it's just extremely sudden to get into an (almost) unkillable boss chase you and kill everyone in your team in first hours of a turn-based jrpg game. Especially if it was your first game of sort.
i remember i paused it to use the restroom and came back to everyone except the MC dead and quickly escaped
I fell asleep during a tartarus run once... woke up to the reaper about to kill the MC... yeah, that was an experience
HEEHEEEHEEEHAWHAW LMAO
I actually really liked Tartarus during the first few floors, it was creepy at first but so silly right after.
Yea, it should have max 50 well designed floors. Not 250 floors of basically the same stuff.
@@samuelkuchta2836 50 floors is not that high of a skyscraper my guy.
@@BloodyHowl69 tartarus is in greek mythology an abyss, not a skyscraper. And games are supposed to be fun, not grind. My guy.
@@samuelkuchta2836 tbh the inspirations have no bearing on a tower that forms at midnight. The point stands where 50 floors just isn't going to cut it, my guy. 🤡
@@BloodyHowl69 Yes it would if done right?
Ofc 50 floors of actual substance is gonna be better than 500 copy pasted floors in every single arguement.
We all love the game but some part of P3 just didn't age very well. It's a natural part of game design.
The game is nearly 20 years old allow it to show some age.
Went to use the bathroom one time and returned to only see Yukari dead, Aigis barely holding on, Akihiko dead, and Makoto waiting patiently for an inevitable death
Makoto was make my sure he was the last standing no matter what lol
"It's hot as hell in in this hot as fucking hall I'm in.
IS THAT THE *GRIM REAPER?!* "
P5R players: Wait, it's all Mementos?
Death/Grim Reaper: Always has been.
The rattling sounds of chains still wake me up at night sometimes
On GOD, i break out into a cold sweat when i hear that shit
Tbh, when fuuka says, "it's weird, no enemies around" this is when i got a goosebumps
Or "be careful! There's more enemies in your area now!" Which indicates this is a golden area with a lot of golden shadows that gives you MONEYYY(pretty rare chance)
But also reaper... Yeah a LOT OF MINOR ARCANA WITH DEATH MARK
The two bits I'm hoping for with the battle system:
1) That MC can equip any weapon type, like he could back in P3 and FES.
2) That the split-up system for exploration is still present, and how it fed into battles.
I'm kinda glad the split up system's gone. The amount of times my party's gotten stuck on a wall or even nothing leaving me solo in a battle is too many to count
@@thetoastermessiah yes but the time you save finding the stairs fast is nice, you just don't experience it.
@@Kashloo Wdym
@thetoastermessiah when you split up they open chests and say "I found the stairs" and you can hit yes to send everyone up immediately. Since it's time saved, you don't think about it.
@@Kashloo yeah fair. I just prefer to keep the whole party together so XP distribution's even(ish. on ng+ it's level 2 yukari and max pevel makoto) Still a neat feature but there's too much that the game sacrifices. Honestly if it just made it so it was like the P4 party following until you press the "split up" button I'd be fine with it
BABY, BABY, BABY, BABY 🗣️🗣️🗣️
0:18 It's funny cause I think someone in the Kirijo Group was trying to build a time machine with the shadows' power IIRC
Even worse, the Reaper in P3R is ABLE to follow you to the next floors when you tried to escape using the ladder to the next room
Tartarus is like Mementos in P5R
I just had that happen yesterday for the first time. I thought I was safe.
oh god im cooked if i see it
Luckily Fuuka learns escape route if u ever see him.
It’s all fun and games until Mitsuru casts Marin Karin on the enemy
Mitsuru: (Uses Marin Karin against Reaper)
Me: The audacity 😱
This only happens if you refuse to use the tactics system
definitely not, i tried to use this tactic system, but mitsuru I always used Marin Karin, and sometimes I wanted someone to use a healing item on me, and I put it to support, and the guy decided to wait and didn't act on his turn, there was even a boss that I didn't miss, because he had 5 hp, and the yukari refused to attack him and just used the wait command.
@@henr1qukk did you have mitsuru set to knockdown or full assault or did you try to use her as support? The only reliable support options are junpei, akihiko , and aigis. The only reliable healer is you. If an enemy has a weakness you need to scan it so the allies know but some bosses are better not scanned if they resist all of an aliy's attacks you might run into the issue with yukari just waiting.
@@julianrobertson1869 Actually, she does Marin Karin and Tentarafoo when the MC is down. It's to prevent the autocrits.
But since the ENG community basically refused to do fusion until 4's Yoshitsune... Scrubs are going all over Tartarus with weaknesses and getting knocked down constantly.
The scariest part is when the reaper spawn and you tried to escape by going to next floor but the reaper learned how to use the stairs
Even Fuuka didn’t wanna help them. No “I sense death” for you. You’re gonna get the whole experience
literally would be more eerie and scarier to just get that warning and constantly be afraid that the grim reaper can ambush you anytime in any corner chills down your spine instead of grim reaper jumpscare
I played FES last year and I will never forget the night where I was jamming to the Tartatus theme until Fuuka said, "I sense death!"
The fear was immediate and warped out with zero shame.
"WHERE'S THE TIME MACHINE?" lol
Next floor, maybe.
Man.. first time I saw Death was crazy. I was playing P3 during summer vacation in like 8th grade and it was pretty late so I fell asleep while I was exploring Tartarus.
I remember in the dream I had hearing chains being dragged. I woke up an hour or two later and saw my squad in a battle with Death and didn't know what was going on😅
Now that the game has been out for a few weeks, I can confirm…
“Wait you can’t go back down the stairs?!?” -Me 5 seconds before disaster struck
And, on top of that, the Reaper follows you up them too.
That’s me when Fuuka says the lights is out smh 🤦🏽♂️
This actually happened to me in Persona 5. One of the floors in mementos was dark and I got lost then the grim reaper showed up and was chasing me in the dark. I was so terrified of dying. 😂
Not people in the comments actually trying to gatekeep and start beef with Persona 5 players....
its crazy how much dumb arguments the persona community have. all the games are peak
I mean persona 5 got a lot of gamers(like me) to check out the other games so I dont know what they’re smoking
Persona fans are so toxic the way they gatekeep and harp on others who enjoy the same games as they do from the same developer and franchise yet they were here first so they get to be a grade A bitch about everything
Nah gatekeeping is based. It filters out the weak
@@CBman11037 Somehow that's even cringier than just gatekeeping. And that's already super cringe.
IS THAT THE GRIM REAPER?!?!?!?!?
Proud to say persona 3 introduced me to the persona series 😌
W!
Chad
No one who played P5R and fell in love with the franchise would actually react this way. Cause by the time this remake came out we already played all other atlus games some of us even got into shin megami tensei by this point, now me I’m still thinking about it.
Unpopular opinion, but I liked the way Tartarus was compared to dungeons in other Persona games. It might be less varied than dungeons from the other games, but I think the way each floor was randomly generated made it feel less human and less intentional, much like the Backrooms. It really gives it that eerie and somewhat liminal feel, especially with the black foggy sections that darkened the floor throughout.
I liked how fast it was to travel it! Persona 4 has such slow dungeons...
Which is why P5 was 100% my favorite in this regard. They gave us handcrafted dungeons with gimmicks and all, while simultaneously giving us a new version of Tartarus.
@@neoshenlong yeah, that was much better than both.
Though i still preferred Tartarus over Mementos on the original P5, that changed on the P5R since there you could just ran over shadows!
@@DragonMrDarkness Yes with that cute Morgana car LOL
To be fair, that happened only if you stay at a certain floor for an extended amount of time... an anti-grind measure. I loved playing on rainy days, btw, it amplifies the atmosphere in Tartarus 10x.
I wouldn't call it an anti-grid measure since you can always go back to grind after spending another day haha
And then you unlock the *Armaggedon* spell with Victory Cry and Spell Master and everything except Elizabeth becomes a joke.
I finished P5R, played about ten hours P4G, and finished Persona 3 Fes.
I'm ready to listen to a new heart destroying remix of Living with Determination.
This comment is amazing
You got me angry. Finish P4G right NOW
Finish P4G rn 🤬
While you wait, you can check out Persona 1 and 2
You dare not finish P4G?!
p3 was my first and favorite Persona game. CANT WAIT
Cultured! as well as having that master xehanort pfp!
They have NO idea what nightmares awaits them. Good luck.
"lmao i already beat reaper in p5 he doesnt scare me"
> Gets beat to death by _that_ table on Tziah Block
I cant wait for the uninitiated to get their teeth kicked in by the world's fastest and most evasive table.
Sad part is Tartarus is super bright in Reload and not atmospheric.
As a persona 5 player who just finished persona 3 reload, im glad this has nnever happened to me
Something about that gunshot in the air at the end had me crying laughing. 😂
Get ready for death is what that gunshot means lol
Why is this so true I've been trying to hide behind walls, there's no pillars for stealth 😭 i can't show them their true forms
I'm hoping we get those special fights like we got in P5R. Imagine fighting Joker as P3MC or FemC
Same as well as getting a fight with fem mc cause that would for such scratch a lot of peoples interest for fem mc being in p3 reload
This could never work unfortunately. I wholeheartedly welcome the idea though.
@@Psycho_Psy How could it not work? Im so confused how this couldn’t work ?
@@DepressedLuffy Because the whole concept of those battles is that you're fighting "echoes of previous guests", P3 takes place before 4 and 5 so Joker and the P4 protag haven't been there yet, thus no "echoes"
Meeeh, they could easily justify it. "A shadow of something that seems to belong here, but has never been here before. Could it be that it is not yet their time? And yet... why are they here?" or some bs@@stevenhiggins3055
I still remember when I finished battling a shadow and the reaper spawned in from of me and I ran away while it killed Junpei, good times 🥲
Poor Junpei
DARKEST STORYLINE IN THE FRANCHISE.
Thanks for bringing me back my hours of Tartarus PTSD from my PSP days
So i had to stay afk 5 min but u find him like that 😭
I played p3fes for the first time about 14 years back, and was able to introduce my friends to it and the subsequent p4. It's been cool to see how much the series' fanbase has grown since then, but also I can wait to see these p5 kiddos tackle the game (albiet a remake) that began to take the west by storm.
I'm just glad that we're able to choose what skills our personas learn these days... All the RNG in og p3 and p4... All those hours in the Velvet Room... That was the real difficulty.
Currently playing through reload first time. It’s not that bad but doing 30 floors in one night is difficult
Me and my team after a hard battle and ascend to new floor with very low hp, sp: panik
Fuuka: there's no shadow on this floor
Me: kalm
Also me some secs later: extremely panik
P5 is like cakewalk compared to 3&4
Facts! It’s still so much fun but the difficulty, grinding is just night and day difference. I enjoy p5 for having less of a grind
I played through persona 5, persona 5 strikers, persona 5 royal, and persona 4 golden all back to back. I WAS NOT PREPARED. for Persona 3 though holy I got destroyed so bad lol
the game is not even that hard lol, dk why ppl keep saying its hard. feel like they just exaggerating it, i played on hard difficulty and so far the "hard" part about it is just tedious grind cause it cost a lot to summon persona and maybe less exp? dk didnt play the other difficulty to check it out, and RNG. i love how ppl think RNG equal hard, its baffling. the RNG part about it is the boss itself, everytime i fail to beat the floor bosses the results is just very different from losing totally to surviving it entirely with my whole team alive only because they targeted the one who is strong to their attack element. granted im not so far into the game yet but even so p5r first two boss on hard mode definitely harder
oh and i didnt have any sp problem at all earlier in the game, even in p5r you have to manage your sp carefully early on 💀
I remember accidentally leaving my game for too long to wait the reaper to spawn. When I came back Junpei was soloing him and Yukari was just reviving him over and over
I steel remember the feeling of playing all day, and then an enemy with an instant death magic kills me, and all my progress is lost cause I forgot to save...
The good old times xd
oh boy can't wait for them to find out that there's no safe room
“Wait, it’s all Mementos?”
“Always has been.”
I'm scared at how accurate this is- (the old games gave NO mercy)
ngl bro when i faced the reaper for the first time in rises dungeon i almost passed out from fear bro cause i had grinded on that floor for a minute
That’s always the worse when you encounter the reaper after a big grind session
Loser Mementos Players vs Chad Tartarus Enjoyers
Ong
I like driving what can i say?
The best part is mementos isn't even the main content in Persona 5. Just wait until the palace enjoyers walk in
@@DoNotFuss Mementos is main content. You can't beat the game or finish confidants without it.
@@number1cheater272 You wouldn't even get to mementos or even open the floors without the palaces though. it's side content that becomes a palace in itself later on
Future Trunks when he gets into the hyperbolic time chamber with Vegeta during the Cell saga be like:
The first time I fought the Reaper, It did an asspull move by casting Mamudoon in the get go and wyped my team out except Junpei coz he was equipped with an accessory that prevents from dying once then the Reaper casted Megidoloan lmao.. wiping out my entire team.. Worst Part is, I forgot save the game before entering Tartarsauce
Those non saves before death is always the most tragic part of it all
And that's why you PAUSE the game while in Tartarus. XD
Bro today i literally started playing persona 3 Fes and got lost in tartarus and then i heard "i sense danger" i turn back and saw thE F*CKING GRIM REAPER BEHIND ME. 💀
Welcome to the persona 3 family

As someone who was used to defeating the Reaper in Mementos, I can honestly say that when I first encountered it in Tartarus, I bit off way more than I could chew and immediately regretted it.
P3's dungeons were creepy, but it was obvious, P4 is way more creepier because of how unknown it feels.

Dude why P3P when you can emulate your PC or even mobile to play P3 FES😧😧
Persona 5 royal was my first persona game i cant wait to have panic attacks while going through tartarus
The dungeons in Persona 4 looked damn near identical to each other, causing me to get lost on various occasions. I can only imagine what Persona 3’s dungeons are like.
They are too small and too fast to travel, impossible to get lost there.
“Erm… where’s the puzzles”
Imagine being in a pitch black floor with purple level shadows everywhere and you suddenly hear Fuuka say “Be careful! I sense death!”
*DEATH DRAWS NEAR*

Hello from the future. As a Persona 5 Royal player, on the hardest difficulty I am one shotting Tartarus each night and currently at floor 60 and only died once. Rn doesnt seem hard but things my change
P5's dungeons were pretty straightforward in progression. I hope they keep the sort of meandering and sense of the unknown that Tartarus has.
Sense of unknown? It was a slog that became a boring grindfest less than halfway through the game 😂
Oh hellll no, if they don't change Tartarus, I'm gonna be bored out of my mind.

The scariest part is, this isn't even exactly an exaggeration, especially the part with the Reaper. You thought were were safe because you went up the stairs? Guess what? Now he follows you up the stairs unless it's a gatekeeper room.

The sound of the grim reapers chains following you down the hallway will always be horrifying
Me who played all three games but five is still my favorite but for real hopefully they made Tartarus not a slog like it was in the original P3
You want a slog? Shido’s palace.
@VanceAsagi idk man rat section was my favorite part cause I was just singing "rats rats we're the rats we stalk at night we pray at night we're the rats" lol
@@VanceAsagi well, then again at least that has game design unlike well, the dungeons in the past two games
@@cringecity124 I don’t know about that one either my friend. All of the blocks in Tartarus are thematically different and I enjoyed them.
