We usually call them rugs because they are handmade, unique pieces of art that partially cover the floor. On the other hand, carpets are industrially machine-made, cover the floor wall-to-wall, and are nailed. I have 30 Persian rugs from Catalina Dealer and try not to use the carpet descriptor.
@@hernangarango5633 Room size hand made rugs are also called carpets. If it's a machine made rug it's called machine made or an area rug, whatever its size.
Many thanks for your informative content! I happen to have an old Harchegan runner whose other end has been dyed red. The rectangular area is some five centimeters wide extending from one edge to another. Ever come across this? Could it be an owner´s mark or something else? Best from Finland!
I purchased an antique Isfahan rug at an estate sale two years ago for $4,500.. I took it to Benham Rugs here in Dallas to have it cleaned. Found out it was a rare design and it appraised for $50,000 dollars. It is extremely beautiful but now I am afraid to walk on it!!!!
You sure take Interior Designers out of one of their important markets. We have been supporting you guys for years and you post this. Shame on you. For Interior Designers, it’s to hard to find used rugs in the amount of time you have.
Thank you for the good videos. Could you please explain the best way to hang a Persian rug on the wall? I want to hang one, but I’m afraid to ruin the rug or tearing the weave.
Thank you for sharing all the knowledge necessary to make the right purchase. Rugs are more than a piece of furniture in a home, they're heirlooms to covet and cherish for generations to come. By the way, what a unique and beautiful rug you have as a background (1:04). What kind is it? Can you share its origin? I really like its pattern. Thank you again. Cheers
Have labor and production rates for Persian rug making trended steadily in one direction up until the recent decades? Or have they gone up and down in different times? I appreciate you making these informative types of videos even if they don't get massive numbers.
Hi from Texas, Shawn. As you are talking, I am envisioning fabulous Persian rugs I want to have. The artistry of the rugs is like the master painters Michelangelo et al... I am curious about the vast gorgeous carpeting in 5 Star Hotels. Are they wool? How do those carpets look so good with all the pedestrian traffic? Thanks again Shawn.
Thank you! Great information! I love my Persian wool carpets. I have both vintage & new. ❤

W O W ! How old would you say?
Take your shoes off and enjoy your rug for the rest of your life.

@@wmpetroff2307 I was told by the expert that it is about 100 to 110 years old.
Why are you afraid? Are you not worth more than a thing? You are cheapening the dignity of human beings, we are much more beautifully crafted.

One on the left is exactly what I need but wish it was about three grand less

What insurance companies do you recommend/work with? A lot of homeowners' policies won't cover rugs of this vaue unless they are displayed on a wall.
