Here is my review of the Promethean LP-1 from @LeadSteel huge thanks to @GUNVIRA for letting me barrow this optic for review. #reviews #review #tough
linktr.ee/Shootin_the_sht_podcast Editors Notes: Optic was given for review to Klshnkov. He did not purchase optic. I did not compare the Holosun 510c based on looks, I was comparing based on how much I didn’t like it. I do like the Promethean.
I will never understand people who are concerned about "battery life". There's less than 8,800 hours in a year and batteries are not expensive. I keep my optics on to the same setting year-round and change my batteries every 1 to 2 years depending on the optic. People trying to get 40,000 hours of use out of a coin battery and complaining that they're not getting that when they only cost $1.50 per is unbelievably mind-blowing to me. I get a six pack of Surefire CR123s for $12.99 shipped and they last over 10 years.
I believe that’s what I said. If I didn’t I apologize and agree with you on them being subjective. I still think it’s uglier than sin. But it’s a great optic
I love my xps 2-1. Its just a 1moa dot, magnifies well. I accidently got it before I figured out eotech's numbering system but it was a wonderful mistake bc I think it like it more than my exps 3-0.
I have an astigmatism where LED red dots look like starbursts if the brightness is too high for the environmental light. EOTECHs definitely trigger my astigmatism far less. For whatever reason, circle dot reticles in Holosuns and some Sig optics look much clearer than when they're on the dot only mode. Thankfully I'm one of those cavemen who likes circle dot reticles. I think the best looking mailbox optics are the EXPS3, Romeo 8T and Vortex UH-1 (shame the UH-1 kind of sucks).
Everyone has a preference, I like most optics, but I do prefer American made stuff. I just hate it when American made optics suck. If you can look into a corrective lenses it might help clean that up
Yes, but not as of yet. That’s what I gathered from the video. I think he said when it’s made in America the warranty will be lifetime. I could be wrong. But that’s what I gathered
You stated this isn't an Eotech killer at the beginning of the video. Better keep an eye out for a cease and desist letter. Maybe he will make a video ranting about you too and end up contradicting his own C&D letter lol.
I think 6061 is the right choice for a crumple zone. It’s softer so it’ll actually deform and hence absorb shock rather than transferring the energy to the optic itself if it was 7075. This is relative energy lol 6061 will still transfer but will absorb more through deformation
Doesn’t matter if you deform it to much, you still damage the housing possibly killing the unit itself. It could go either way as we say with FT it really didn’t help. But a steel plate is going to kill most optics
@@shootintheshtpodcastthis is where the eotech advantage will show likely. It’ll likely hold zero because the qd on the exps3 is pretty good and even if the glass is cracked the laser will still show.
I disagree… the shock will transfer from the hood into the unit no matter what. The soft aluminum could bend enough to crack the glass or damage the electronics. A stronger hood would stop this from happening. This is why most companies don’t go cheaper on the “protective” hood.
I remember all the hype behind this optic before it launched. Some even dubbed it as a potential EOTech killer. Luckily I didn't buy the hype and rush off to sell my EXPS3s for this Turkish made LCO knockoff. Also, the drama between FocusTripp and Lead & Steel was dumb. Sending a cease and desist letter and getting lawyers involved made L&S look really bad.
I’ll agree I think the whole drama thing was dumb l, which is what almost made me not even want to touch it. I have seen the “Turkish made” so called “evidence” and non of it seems legit. I do believe it when lead and steel says it’s mostly made here. I like the optic.
It's not turkish made, the turkish made optic you're referring to came out well after the Lead and Steel optic did. What's more likely to have happened is that the Chinese manufacturer that produces the housing for Lead and Steel sold the design to 3E to build themselves.
@@Madhatt623people posting the Turkish bs are the same people who never fact check anything and take sides on everything. I wish this community had more people actually being responsible when it comes to trying to bad mouth companies.
@@rifleshooterchannel208 the owner of l&s has stated he has brought a lot of production stateside. It’s not all made here yet, but he’s working on doing more.
I really like the LP1. Very clear crisp reticle and the Aura feature is excellent. The dot stays and the ring goes until motion takes over. Great idea. The durability tests are just plain stupid. If your optic gets smashed you have much bigger problems than if your red dot lost zero. Dropped is one thing - that can happen but until there is a scientific way to apply stress then its all bullshit. Every optic has failed these YT torture tests. Its stupid. That whole drama with FT and LS could have been avoided. Personally I blame FT for running to YT and claiming bribery. If it happened or not it should have been handled in private and not on YT. The C&D was not because of a bad review it was for the bribery accusation.
I really didn’t want to publish this when that stuff came out. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t have an issue with either of them. I just saw that and went 🤦♂️ dammit
@@shootintheshtpodcast Thanks for reply. I dont have an issue with either side either. I subscribe to FT and I am really happy with the LP1. I have also spoken with Ahmad. I just think you handle your dirty laundry privately. I know that isnt the way things get done today. The first one that screams "foul" wins nowadays. Our 2A community is always being chewed at. We can do without the infighting.
I respectfully disagree. FT bought the optic with his own money and tested it to his standard. If you think drop tests are dumb fair enough. But Lead and steel has no right to sue him for defamation when all he did was give his opinions on an optic that he bought with his own money. FT owes them nothing and things dont need to be handled in private if he didnt want to. When you make a product you are opening yourself to criticism of said product. If you disagree with the criticism fair enough but lead and steel cant suppress bad press because they don't like reviews.
@@VanTheMan1099 I think you missed the point as to why the legal action went into affect. It was not because of the bad review. That can happen any time to anyone. It was because of the bribery accusation. Now I dont know exactly what happened nor does anyone else except FT and Ahmad. That is the way it should have stayed. Bad optic is one thing....bribery LS felt it had to defend itself. FT ran onto YT and told his version of what happened. It seemed to me he went way out of his way to disparage LS for whatever reason. Honestly how many YT'er get offered something? Again we dont know because they handle it on their own if they take it or not. Also FT says he wont take money, but he does take ammo. Well isnt ammo money if now you dont have spend your money on ammo? Cmon. As far as destruction tests. Until there are standards across the board they are useless. There are too many variables in what we see on YT to make any real determinations. Does it always land at the same angle at the same point with the same pressure? No. Until that is done it is too much of a crapshoot. I saw Clint on Classic Firearms do a test between an EOtech and an UH1. He was throwing them like a baseball at a metal plate. He broke both but the UH1 was worse for wear. Someone actually said "I was going to buy a UH1, but thanks Clint for changing my mind". Watch the video if you have time. He beat the shit out of both to the point that your optic gets that much abuse the shooter attached to that optic is dead, and his optic losing zero is no longer a problem.
@@VanTheMan1099 I think you missed the point as to why the legal action took place. The legal action didnt happen because of the bad review. It happened because FT was crying bribery. Very big difference. To FT's credit he did separate the two. His subscribers (which I am one of) for the most part didnt separate them. They thought and still do that legal action was taken because the LP1 failed the drop test. Not the case at all. IF IF IF any bribe was offered FT should have kept it between the two parties and not taken it to YT. He clearly went out of his way to disparage LS. I am sure this isnt the first time FT or any other Gun Tuber was offered something. Also - listen carefully to FT in his video - he clearly states that he will take ammo as compensation. Well isnt ammo money if now you dont have to spend your money on ammo.........which a Gun Tuber needs. If someone didnt want to offer you money but said they would pay for all of your food...........isnt that the same thing? Cmon. As far as destruction tests go. Until there is a standard test where the same pressure is applied to all points of the optic then drop tests are just for entertainment and not for evaluation in my opinion. There is a video by Classic Firearms where Clint compares an Eotech and a UH1. He beats the shit out of both of them and they are both hanging in. Then the throws them like a baseball at a steel plate. The UH1 is worse for wear..................... Someone actually says "Thanks Clint I was going to buy a UH1 but you saved me the money based on this torture test". I find it amazing what people are willing to believe all depending on what mouth it comes out of. This is exactly the problem that our gun community has with people trying to take them away.

I feel same about the circle dot being to much i dig dots and paying less
THEY SELL A 1 MOA DOT EOTECH AND ITS INCREDIBLE
7075 t6 is what you want regular 7075 isn’t as strong
