I just bought some games off ebay recently, had my PS2 since Dec 2004. Games are still great to play. Not to mention games like REZ, Gradious V, GoW, Shadow of the C and others and hidden gem games too.

Fun fact: PS2's can last for a long ass time. My dad gave me his PlayStation 2 that he bought (somewhere around 2001-2003), and the thing still works perfectly. Only problem is that the disc tray is worn out, like sometimes it just stops moving and I either have to gently move it with my hand, or power on and off the console to force it to close.
Also, almost nobody played original games, only pirated ones. It was super easy to modify the console, buy already modified consoles and get pirated games. People bought it as an more affordable DVD player and played games on it very cheaply. It was literally everywhere. So many fond memories.
I still remember the Christmas that my parents got my 2 older brothers & I our ps2 slim. We didn't have a memory card so we always used to leave it on so our progress wasnt lost 😂

Generation 6 of video game consoles, probably the best gen till date. I owned the PS2, Dreamcast, Xbox and GameCube. They all have their own unique and great games. Gran Turismo 3 A spec, Final Fantasy X, God of War and many more are in my list of favorite PS2 games. It was the holy grail from Sony with sales over 155 million consoles. Impressive.
Another great feature (or exploit to be correct) is the old fat PS2 can be soft modded to run a hard disk internally with the network adaptor. Then you can play .iso files that have been loaded onto that hard drive.
Interesting PS1 fact, King's Field II (JP), known in the USA as just King's Field, was completely seamless back in 1995. For some reason Guinness lists Jak and Daxter as the first unbroken 3D world, but KFII technically allowed you to go anywhere you saw fit and did not have a load screen after initial start up.
I love how you play the battle theme in Final Fantasy X. My favorite Final Fantasy game and the game that introduce me to the series and Tidus remains as my favorite rpg protagonist of all time

Fact 44: Actually, the expansion bay was not removed for the 70000 models, the components were still there but you have to solder in order to restore that function. Then it was ditched by the next releases.

I've owned my Slimline ps2 for many years it still works fine and they have the most unique addictive games out there the reason I love the ps2 and ps3 is no internet bill required I refuse to buy the new generation consoles because the games are expensive and require a internet bill
There's way too many great games to list but my all time favourite was The Warriors, when I saved up and bought a copy home me and my friends sat around playing it for 6 hours straight just amazed at the sheer violence and combos you could inflict. Looking back I'm surprised our nanny government didn't ban it like they did with Manhunt and the original GTA: San Andreas with the coffee mod.

Well from a technical perspective, it was defeated by the GameCube and Xbox. "Greatest console for its time" implies to me that it was the best platform to build games on, which it wasn't, it was the most difficult to program for and it just happened to get the most games because it was the most popular due to being the successor to the amazing Ps1. As a result, it has the greatest library of all-time which to me was a bit of a missed opportunity.
(Here’s an interesting fact) the PS2 DualShock 2 Controller has pressure sensitive buttons that when you press a button a soft or hard it dose a very different input Action depend on how you press a button on the controller. Like for an example: in grand tursimo when you Press the Acceleration button hard the faster the car speeds up.
Just picked up 3 of them the other day for $10 each. Great find now that I know they were collectors. All 3 metallic silvers. Haven't seen the others yet.

Just picked up 3 of them the other day for $10 each. Great find now that I know they were collectors. All 3 metallic silvers. Haven't seen the others yet.
The PS2 and PS4 are my 2 all time favorite consoles ever.
