We just had this product installed on our three story house as a stucco alternative and it’s been a nightmare. The product looks horrible and after a year it’s already chipping. We had decent installers and they said after this project they won’t ever use or recommend it again. I think Hardie had good intentions, but this residential product is not worth the headache. I wish we would have done more research and went to look at more places that had this application already installed.

You have a 90% Drainable WRB required, that will be your Rain Screen for this Wall

Why does the manual say that the J trim is not suitable for windows or doors and double J trim should be used? In the video, you are using J trim. I don’t want to use the double J cuz its too wide and doesn’t sit flush with window easily.

Why is no caulk or flashing required on the horizontal joint? Other James Hardie videos says it is required.

Field nailing requirements and nail size/installtion ?? Bad video.

16ga straight finish nails. 4" nail spacing everywhere (perimeter and field) with 16" OC studs.
