    I wish I had seen this video a month ago. More importantly, I wish MY CONTRACTOR had seen it too ! Very informative.
    Thank you.

    Ok I was about to go off about flashing at but joints until the update at the end lol. Well done. I am going to DIY this myself. I’ve read all of the manufacturer information and watched hours on hours of videos.

    ...brilliant...this guy just punctured the seal on perfectly good siding above what he was replacing to "test it"...put down the hammer, Sparky...

    I wish you all worked in Arizona. You appear to be THE experts in siding projects.

    Thanks for the "update" at the end. It matches all the other installation guides I've seen. My friend sided his new house in coloured Hardi planks and left a whole 1/8 inch gap at EVERY join, with a square of black tar paper behind join. Upon questioning, he told me the gap had to be there for "expansion". The black gap lines now show up quite badly. He might have to go around and fill each gap with pre-coloured special order caulking. I'm a little frustrated at whoever gave him that advice.

    You do a lot of damage to the ‘good wood’ when testing. Do you smack the hammer claws into all the siding on the house?

      No lie, saw that after hitting it with the hammer, he will need to replace it now 🤦🤦🤦

    Martin, just like to confirm with you: so we can add hardie plane on top of existing t111 plywood wood siding plus moisture barrier? We don’t need to add furri strips for circulation first? My current exterior wood panel is 5/8 plywood so far. I like to add extra layer of fire proofing material, hardie is my choose. Correct? Help, help, thanks.

    Anything specific about the plywood you used to replace the rotten siding down along the bottom? Thickness, type, etc..

      @jnunez1203 6 років тому +1

      Russel Caldera its called plywoid siding..the thickness you have to match it to yoir needs theres different thickness..measure the one you got and just match it with the one you buy

    Why not use trex wood on bottom..doesnt rot ?

    The research I've done, suggests that slip sheets be used behind all butt joints, not just caulking alone, due to shrinkage, and the inability to properly re-caulk and re-paint these areas. very unsightly from the examples I've seen.

      Ya don't caulk the butt joints, never, follow Hardie instructions, they have fine details to follow. And all cut ends must be painted with the Hardie paint kit, and there is special caulking that matches hardie color Plus paint

    Is it ok to go right over the t1-11 like you did on this video? I'm getting ready to do this to my house I would love to hire the pros but I only have enough for the material but I think I can lol

      No shit. This is good siding except for where I just beat the hell out of it.

      He could beat the wood even faster if somebody was there to hold his caulk.
