      @@cmbiker Just now seeing your question. I got it at DPatrick Honda in Evansville, IN. I paid MSRP, no markup except for their usual doc fees and they included all weather mats. I tried to get them to come off MSRP but they wouldn’t budge.

      @@mattmcdowell1218 Thanks. I picked up one in SGP 3 days ago for about $500 under MSRP and got some of their BS fees knocked off, but had to drive 2 hours away to get this deal. BTW, I find the fueling and throttle response at slow speeds in 1st and 2nd to be a bit jerky. Nothing to do with shifting. For example, if I'm decelerating from around 4K to 1K in 2nd gear with my foot completely off the pedal, as the rpms drop to around 1.5K there is some jerkiness. If I'm in 1st and cruising at around 10mph and let off the throttle I also get quite a bit of jerkiness. Have you experienced any of this kind of behavior? I just came from a 2023 WRX which has the best/smoothest fueling I've experienced in any car or motorcycle.

    I'd be interested in those plugs, but I can't help but wonder if maybe if you have a large enough 3d printer then wouldn't it make more sense to 3d print essentially the stock air box but just with everything blocked off and going straight into the air filter box?

    • @NAUS2K
      @NAUS2K  5 місяців тому +1

      You would need a pretty massive and $$$ 3d printer to print the whole box in one shot. The amount of time to redesign that and make it functional would cost so much more than just buying the PRL HVI, so that’s what I’ll be testing next!

    Excellent !! awesome !!
    You have figured out the best way to hear the induction growl without risk of poor filteration from after market concial filters + not getting any heat soak from the engine.
    I tested the IAT before and after installing K &N and there is quite a lot of heat being absorbed from the engine bay.
    At < 0 degrees C ambient , the factory ducting was not able to ram enough air keep the IAT at same temp as the outside.
    - I recorded 10 deg C above ambent @ 80 to 120 KMH
    - I recorded 30 to 40 deg C above ambent @ idle , temps would climb very rapidly at idle
    With the factory airbox, the IAT was always = ambient temp within few seconds of the car picking up speed.
    Honda did a geat job with the Civci factory airbox without the complications.
    (Complicated for me was Prelude's factory airbox pulliing air from behind the front right fender, with a vacum driven flap which changed the intake resonator lenght dynamically for best air velocity)
    You have found the perfect balance of indcution growl + getting the coldest air from the outside.
    I'm going to do same with mine, getting rid of the K &N :-)

      @NAUS2K  5 місяців тому +1

      @@NAUS2K So, I showed up yesterday at my local Honda dealer and the monkeys didn't have the manual available to test drive (still in their warehouse 30 minutes away) so they try to get me to test drive a CVT model. I remind them I called twice before coming to confirm I could test drive the manual and explained to them what's the point of test-driving a CVT if I want to get an idea of how the manual transmission feels. It took every ounce of my strength not to call them a bunch of morons and just walk out. Being that they are the only dealership in proximity with a manual "in stock" I chose to be a gentleman and agree to come back tomorrow when they hopefully will have the car on premisis.

    I wonder what if you put some holes in the bottom of that resonator instead of plugging it so that air will be able to get pulled in. Would make it like a oem version of the PRL HVI for the 1.5t with the added inlet option

    • @NAUS2K
      @NAUS2K  6 місяців тому

      There would be no point in putting holes in the bottom of the resonator. The front feed is already a cold area inlet right into the box. The restriction is not the existing flowpath, it is most likely the oem air filter element.

    Im a little confused about this video. From what I understand, the air passage with the factory intake goes through one hole that you plugged and comes back up through the other hole? Wouldnt plugging both holes completely block the air coming in from the front? I'm assuming 100% of the air goes through 1 hole and comes back through the other. I have an '18 K20C2 and wouldnt mind trying something like this on my car.

    • @NAUS2K

      No air enters of exits those holes, I may have misspoke when showing them in detail. The back of the intake shows the wrap around flow design. Plugging these two holes does not restrict the main flow path at all, just prevents the sound waves from entering the baffled chamber

    Purchased the caps from you and installed them, it definitely makes it sound like a CAI at around 3-4k rpm. Like you said it isn’t as pronounced however it will make me happy til my warranty is up! Thank you again they fit perfect and shipped very fast, would absolutely recommend you to buy from! I did look at it and was also wondering if it is taking away from the grill that takes in air at the front as the resonator does loop around. Think we are losing some fresh air doing this?

    • @NAUS2K
      @NAUS2K  5 місяців тому

      Thanks for the feedback! Now that it’s warmer out I’ve been driving around with my windows down and it’s so much louder! I’d try to film that but the wind noise would be too much. It quite sure what you mean about the fresh air comment, all the air pulled into the intake is directly from the front grill so it’s about as cold/ fresh as you can get

    • @Steven-kc7id

      @@NAUS2Kfrom what I saw the air goes through the vent into the resonator and back up to the filter, might be completely wrong but I was examining it pretty thoroughly, don’t want to take it back off to look at it again 😂

    tbh I’d leave it how it comes I just did this mod and it didn’t really make a noticeable difference. Very easy to do if you wanted to do it. Doesn’t give you that intake noise everyone wants tho. Just kind of sounds the same.

      It made a big difference on mine, though a aftermarket unit will probably still be louder

      @@NAUS2K honestly it might be your 3d printed plugs for the resonator. I’d be happy to throw them in too test that if u wanted to make me a set. If u have somewhere I can send u a video of what mine sounds like id send u a video to see the difference. I just used regular duck tape to plug it up.

    I dont know about this. It can be doing more harm than good HP wise even the resonator has its purpose in controlling the air into the engine. Considering how good and efficient the stock intake is and can be tuned to get more gains in stock form. Obviously, all speculation until someone does real dynos. But for induction lovers on a budget, this is definitely the way to go.

    • @brycemurdock6984
      @brycemurdock6984 6 місяців тому

      PRL did a dyno test and it showed it made +8whp and +6wtq, i don’t notice this difference really but it seems slightly more efficient at high rpm and has better throttle response/noise

      @@whereswaldo9089 The high volume prl intake made those gains over stock, i would only suggest getting it really for the noise however. I also got the megan racing exhaust it is surprising high quality, my civic even burples at low speeds even without changing my front/down pipe yet.

  • @richardmezger5682
    @richardmezger5682 5 місяців тому

    The little box underneath that you taped off might be for catching water. If the bottom of the airbox is airtight, then it would need somewhere to go.
    Its hard to tell exactly how its oriented in the video, if it would be effective at doing that. I have a SI, which has a different looking airbox. So I can't go check it out.
    But, on the several Hondas I've previously owned, all of which have gutted airboxes, they all had a tiny hole at the bottom to let any sucked in water drop out of the box.

      I have tested this pretty throughly as this thought did cross my mind. I’ve driven in some torrential downpours and when I arrived at my destination, I popped the hood and zero water entered the intake tract. Filter was still bone dry
