You are the best teacher on the internet. Your calmness and speaking voice is calming. That helps to make a person feel like it’s going to be okay to build a dollhouse. Thank you for your great contribution. LesliV
Hello, I just found a complete Greenleaf Sugarplum Cottage Kit at Goodwill for $4.99 (What a find!!), which prompted my search on construction instructions and I found your channel, which I LOVE. Thank you for sharing what you do!!!! My mom has always wanted a dollhouse, and now I can build her one that is a lot fancier than I could have if you didn't share your knowledge. I'm going to attempt to construct it in an English cottage style, with trailing flowers, vines, etc... Anyway, I just wanted to say Thank you!!!
I sure wish I found you before I started my mother's huge dollhouse... cant stress test fitting enough🤣 I'll get her all patched together but patience is an asset to save some future headaches
So pleased to have found your channel. My son bought me a Fairfield mini dollhouse kit. It will be my first time assembling a dollhouse. This is very helpful. Thank you.
I love this video! I have an abandoned dollhouse kit from Greenleaf that I bought when I was 8 and never got around to finishing. Now I'm an adult in quarantine I'm going to complete it!
You inspired me to buy the Sugarplum Cottage. I have been using kits that included everything. I am ready to venture on my own (a bit) and follow your instructions for my next adventure. Thank you for these great videos.
Eureka! I'm so happy I just found your channel! Thank you so much for taking the time to show the most intimidating part of dollhouse making; getting the nerve up just to tackle the build has kept me from beginning a dollhouse kit that was a gift as well a box of pieces with no instructions that intimidated my mom before me. You are so thorough and a great instructor! I'm so excited now to get building so I can get to the fun part of decorating.
Thank you!! I’ve been a closet crafter for years and I just bought “the orchid” by greenleaf and I found this very helpful as this is my first dollhouse build ever! Went to hobby lobby for the first time and couldn’t believe what’s out there. Your work is amazing and you got a follow from me and looking forward to learning more customization like lights, trim, paint techniques and so on. I’m starting it today.
It's great to see you doing a video and to see the person behind all those beautiful houses you have done in the past, amazing work!!!!! I am looking forward to seeing and learning, I will definitely tell my mini friends about your channel and welcome back!!!!!!!!!!!
Love this series. I started building this dollhouse that I purchased in 1988. I’m so grateful you show how to do it. A couple of questions, how do you attach the chimney and the door?
I have this house! I got it two years ago for my birthday. I haven’t finished the inside but I added a second story with mat board. You put yours together way more strategic than me though lol
I absolutely love your videos, you are a great teacher. I will be beginning a Greenleaf dollhouse shortly. I have been looking for more segments to this build, but can't find them. Are there any?
This is my second time watching this series. I am a newbie in the mini dollhouse world and have a question regarding the “tabs” on the kit. Once you have glued and clamped the pieces together, do you cut the tabs off? If they are not cut off, do they affect how the siding and roofing is applied or looks?
If the tabs are protruding from the walls/roof, then they could affect your siding and roofing, depending on how much they're sticking out. In that case I would sand them down until they're flush.
Thanks for this awesome tutorial! I’m totally new to building dollhouses so I really appreciate you sharing your expertise. Just wondering, at what point do you remove the masking tape?
Hi! Wish I knew of a direct message kind of way to ask you this, but I’m wondering - do you work to glue and masking tape clamp from beginning to end in one sitting for one house? Or, in stages to allow glue to dry?
Hi! It depends on what part you're working on. If you're assembling pieces that don't require too much adjusting and won't affect what you've already glued, then no need to wait. If you're trying to add a piece that might knock the others loose (for instance, adding the 2nd floor to the walls) then let the glue dry first.
Hi angiaug, my willow front panel is bowed. I sanded and exacto knifed the slots but the second floor won’t stay in. Any suggestions? Even with glue and tape is hard to keep the sections flush.
Hi Leslie. I've experienced warping with a few Greenleaf kits and I've gotten good results with glue and LOTS of tape. If that's not working for you, perhaps laying the house flat and weighting it down with books?
If you're saying you want to try a smaller house before building your Magnolia, you could try the Primrose kit by Greenleaf just to get your feet wet. It's cute and cost about $20 on the Greenleaf Dollhouses website. It's a small super easy kit to practice on.

The heavy taping and glue worked just fine. Thank you so much!

Welcome to this wonderful hobby! The Orchid is a cute little house and a great starter kit. Have fun!
Just opened and feel overwhelmed. Trying to figure out the best way to paint, paint as I go or paint after. Wallpaper and stuff seems harder later.

I leave it on just long enough for the glue to dry - usually a couple of hours.
Love it!
I noticed the outer chimney piece covered two holes in the side wall, are there two fireplaces? One on each floor?
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching🙂
Very enjoyable video. Newly subbed.😊
Thanks!

The instructions say to use glue gun and also paint before assembly? Have you done it that way before?
I’m curious. Do you sand your rough edges?
❤️

Do you have a tutorial for staining cedar roof shingles?
