This method is brilliant! I can’t believe after 8 years this is the only video I’ve found that uses paper towels for grout. It is so much easier than dealing with real gout or plaster. After my sample piece which turned out so realistic I’ll use his method for the whole fireplace.
I just received a 25 pack of cup holders for this. I'm going to go around the frame of a mirror and give it to my husband for Father's day. I think it's going to look great in his man cave. I'll probably have to hot glue them down, then go over it with mod podge to get it to stay down on the curved edges. Thank you for the idea!💗
I guess im asking randomly but does anybody know a method to get back into an Instagram account..? I somehow lost the account password. I love any tricks you can offer me!
@Enzo Cristiano thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site thru google and im trying it out now. Seems to take quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
I made the stone floor right inside the mushroom house I built. I love it, but not sure why some of the “stones” seem to be popping up and how I can fix it. Love this channel! I really love minis and it has given me much needed inspiration with the holidays being over.
This is great. I think it will look great around the pond as well as on the floors. I will probably try this for the outer bit of the stable to make it look realistic. Thanks for uploading This. I agree about the mess it's half the fun!
Love this video! Great explanation and the Stone looks very realistic. I want to do the lower portion of my miniature potting shed in stone. After watching this video I think I feel confident enough to try. Thank you!
I love this technique. I learned it from you last year and have used it in 3 of my projects so far. I am so grateful for your sharing it! That is a beautiful floor. Love the colors you chose.
You can wet the cut tray and press it flat until it drys into a flat sheet. Also you can add water to the glue and use tissue paper in layers and press a large area into stone shape.
I am blown away...YOU are soooo smart! "Thank YOU for (killing) the sound when you did the drying... My ears love you. Hint: Use cheap eye make-up (Dollar Store) with a brush to color the stones... I make Fairy Houses and have resorted to the makeup... saves you fingers ;) Thank YOU for sharing this... Beautiful job...
The effect is fantastic, very realistic. But I think it would be easier to use a brush to cover the surface with glue then laying down the cardboard pieces rather than gluing each individually.
Your video ROCKS !! LOL Just gorgeous!! I love it..... ! I imagine the stone walkway could be made with much smaller "stones," correct? My dollhouse is very small.
Lol it rocks! And yes, can be made any size. If you look at my more recent videos I do a stone pathway using peat pots and I paint those ones. There’s many different ways these can be used and coloured, they could be made into tiny bricks as well.
@@WhereTheGnomesLive How awesome! Thanks for these great ideas! When I make miniature stuff, I feel like I am real small and walking around in my creation! LOL
Great tutorial, I bought a lovely big dolls house a few days ago from our local on line buy and sell. As a project. It was cheap. £12 because the front door is missing and theres water damage to the floor on the ground. Easily fixed. I 'll try this floor thanks. It could be a wall too
Brilliant ideas. I'm going to try this but is it possible to use mod podge instead of the glue for sticking the kitchen towel on the masking tape and then again using it for the "stone" pieces? Thanks for all your great ideas
Thumps up because I did enjoy watching! It turned out great and looks so much like real stones. I love the idea of coloring them with chalk too. Now I just need to figure out where to get some of those cup holders. Have you just saved yours from getting drinks or did you order them? I am going to tell my friends to start saving them for me.
What brand acrylic sealer did you use? How thick did you apply it? At 8:02, it looks like you applied a pretty liberal amount. Did that disrupt or subdue the chalk coloring at all?
I would paint the paper towel after it dries whatever color I want the grout. Hadn’t thought about it but I will try it. I am interested to see how it turns out😀
I don’t suppose this would work for an outdoor fairy garden? Or do you have any ideas for that at all? Other than using actual pebbles of course, I’m struggling to find flat ones! Thanks in advance, and I only just found you but I love your videos! X
I always let it dry to the touch then continue, just makes it easier for adding the stones, less slippery. Since this video I found a dot of hot glue to set them in place is much faster and then spread the pva glue over top once they are all down
After the paper is dried and painted can it be considered water proof or would I need to do another step to make it compatible with being an outdoor decoration?
You would have to weather proof it with an exterior sealer but I think daily water would eventually break it down regardless of the sealer. Weather proofing is good protection from rain but then drying out in between rainfalls
Thank you so much for your video. I plan to create a doll house for my little girl but since I am French and I do not understand your language, can you tell me if the colored sticks you use are greasy pastel, dry or chalk sticks... Thank you...
I think they are called “chalk pastels”. You can also use paint, like acrylic and watercolour, anything that will add a bit of colour or you can leave them plain too. Have fun!
Wow! That's fab! I only just started watching your craft yesterday now I'm totally hooked really want to try somthing! On one of the tree stumps you used your own made clay would air dry clay work rather than oven baked?
You can use all sorts of different clays I'm sure. I don't think it really matters what kind of clay, as long as you can carve in the lines for bark and it keeps those lines while it dries.
@@WhereTheGnomesLive ooh that's great thank you not sure what to start with I think I might try the spooky tree first as iv never made anything like this but really want to
Where did you get the cup trays? Also -- I really wish this video (and the others on your old channel) were in a downloadable format, like the ones on your new channel. I just found this Sunday, and I can see a lot of possibilities. Unfortunately, the Internet we have at home is limited to 20 GB share (cell phone) data per month, and my husband uses it for work. I've downloaded over 12 GB of youtube videos the last few days, so I can watch them later at home, and I'd love to be able to download this one, as well. (I'm visiting our son right now, who has an unlimited data plan.) I'm thinking some of these techniques could be used to replicate the Pueblo Indian cliff dwellings . . . ? Thanks for doing them, and for making at least the tree house videos downloadable. Kathy
I get my cup trays when I go through mc-donald's for a coffee. I'm not sure why you can't download this one, I just checked the settings and I have it set to be downloaded on all platforms as I do on all my videos. There's nothing I can do on this end to make it work for you... maybe ask youtube, like the help section? They might know what's happened. I don't have a new channel, this is the same channel I've had for a couple years. My other channel is even older, the other one I have for crochet. Which channel are you speaking of?

That colour was subtle but very noticeable in making it 'natural'. Superb

Also, an excellent excuse to just get messy. :P

Do you happen to have any suggestions for a more geometric pattern? Just cut instead of tear?
+Bewilderbeastie yes, you can cut them and make a pattern
+Bewilderbeastie and I should add, paint the backs with glue instead of dipping so you can see where to lay them
Thank you for the pointers!

do you mean for bark? Or for under these stones?

absolutely.. I think I did say that in the video.

sorry for the late reply! Yes, you could for sure
learning better all the time

Glue all. School glue takes longer to dry but it can be used and it will turn out just fine
