Oh my my !!! I LOVE the butterfly stepping stones , it’s my new favorite!!!!! It’s just simply beautiful ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️love seeing the step by step and the tips in between , THANK YOU !!!!
Thank you, thank you, thank you, Patty, for this tutorial. As always, you did a masterful job of explaining and demonstrating each step so that our projects have that extra pizazz that adds to that "Wow" factor. I can't wait to get started.
Thank you so much for all the great details. This is the cutest project for an outdoor decoration. Thank you Patty!!!💕💕🦋🦋 I loved all the different color choices on the other stones as well!!!
Patty, I’m having trouble finding these round pavers. Menards has them but they have a textured surface (has ridges) & I’d prefer a smooth surface. Pavestone makes the ones I’d like to get for this project but the local store don’t stock them anymore. Home Depot has them in bulk on their website but I don’t need 100+ stepping stones 😩
Hi Carol! We hate to hear you're having a hard time finding these. We got ours at our local hardware store. We are an hour away from any of the big box ones, so we haven't checked there. We will keep our eye out if we see any and let you know!
Just gorgeous. Detail is great. Thanks so much for an outdoor idea. You are amazing at this. The green background is a nice touch. BTW what size was the butterfly you used?
Thank you so much for the kind words. Here is the link for the stencil. We have one specifically for the stepping stones: studior12.com/products/butterfly-stepping-stone-stencil?_pos=2&_sid=48dfde577&_ss=r
We recommend DecoArt MultiPurpose Sealer before you paint and DecoArt DuraClear Matte Varnish after you paint. We do not have these on our website currently. You may be able to find them on DecoArt's website or their Amazon shop.
Love the lesson. I picked up stepping stones yesterday but I am having a hard time finding the decoart patio paint in my area. Is there another brand you would recommend?
The DecoArt Patio Paint is the only paint we've tried with this. We also aren't able to find it in our small town. We recommend ordering it online! Here's the link to their site: shop.decoart.com/search-results/?q=patio+paint&page=2
Two questions: 1. I'm taking it you only need one coat of the DecoArt multi purpose sealer, not two. Is that correct? 2. Did you primer the stone at all, or does the sealer act as a primer? I'm looking to do something similar to this on a birdbath. Great job with the stone. I'm getting ready to start my project.
Hi there! You will use 1 coat of the MultiPurpose Sealer before you start painting. Then paint. Then when you finish, do up to 3 coats of the MultiPurpose sealer. 2. We used the MultiPurpose Sealer as our primer. Can't wait to see what you do with the birdbath!
@@StudioR12Stencils I should have stated, I'm boing both concrete stepping stones as well as a birdbath. Regarding your statement about the 3 coats of Multi Purpose sealer when I finish painting, your video states to use 3 coats of Mat DuraClear varnish. Is that what you meant, or will either do the same thing? Also, I plan on using white paint as a background on the stepping stones. Would either the varnish or multi purpose sealer discolor or darken the white upon application? I've never done a project like this & I want to make sure I do it right. Thanks for all your info.
Sorry we didn’t get a notification about this comment. You are correct we finished with the varnish. We have not had issues with discoloration with the sealer or varnish.
I loved seeing how each detailed step transformed the fairy dust into a magical trail. Such a fun project! Thank you, Patty!!
Thank you for watching Teresa!!!
Wow, that’s gorgeous! All the layers of details just looks amazing.

The butterfly stencil is 7.2" width x 5.9" height.
I am not sure I am buying the correct sealer for the outside paver. Do you have a link?

How can I transfer an image to a concrete square stepping paver. Thx
We haven’t tried this before. You may end up with some holes because of the rough surface. Please let us know if you do it and how it goes!
❤👍
