    Hi Marcie. I just found you today, 8/23/2024. I love the way you present your subject matter. I love doing Mosaics, but I'm not very good at it. What I think my strong area in this art, is egg shell mosaics. The bigger things sort of intimidate me. But, thanks to you, I'm gonna try something with larger tesserae. I wish I knew how to download pictures on here, but my computer knowledge is very limited. I'm an old lady. When I was 16, my typing class got the first electric typewriters, so maybe that's why. I will watch more of your tutorials and I'm really glad I found you. Thanks so much and God bless you..

    Hi there..my name is André and I am the owner of cemented creations...your products are lovely..I have some pointers for you...concrete takes 28days to cure...then it is as hard as it can ever be...release your moulds at 12 hours..clean the top as you do..then submerge the Stepp stone into water..fully submerged..remove them after 8 days...perfect...also change your release oil..cooking oil is very expensive...get a 2liter of diesoline...not petroleum from your local gerage and a 500ml engen oil..any brand..then mix the oil with the diesoline...perfect....I make table sets.. fountains..planters ext...have fun👍

    I think perhaps you added more "cement" to the concrete with aggregate at the beginning? Concrete by definition has aggregate and is made of Cement, Sand, Aggregate and water. You could easily make concrete with smaller and more consistent aggregate by using "pea" gravel. Very nice looking results!

      Hello and thank you for pointing out my content error. I am sure to make a notation if this In m y description as to not confuse viewers …I mixed 3 cups concrete to 1 part cement. I like this mixture. I’ve used many, made my own yada yada … thanks again for catching this🥰appreciate you watching my video and taking the time to comment!! This is one of the easiest and less intimidating ways for someone who is beginning to experiment with this type of creative venture. • @marcieziv
      @marcieziv  2 роки тому

      Hi. You make the stepping stone as shon in video. Optional is to buy a paver at a big box store or garden center and thinset the Seaglass /stones:tile on top and then grout. However to make your own is so easy and far more satisfying☺️thank you for watching😄

    • @marcieziv
      @marcieziv  3 роки тому

      Thank you for your comment! I neglected to put the reference link in my description. I just did that now. There are several types of crafting wire but for the stepping stones I would recommend the smaller holed wire. .. and the one I linked is rather quite in expensive in comparison. I had purchased my roll ions ago and the store is no longer there unfortunately...Thank you for watching. (Art supply stores would also carry this type of mesh) 😊

    Hi Marcie, could I use left over screen fabric (like the one used for windows) instead of the metal sheet fabric? To strengthen the concrete

    • @marcieziv
      @marcieziv  2 роки тому

      Hi Jacqueline! Yes, I’ve used leftover screening as well. It worked out fine. If you have metal rods, like rebar .. that works. The larger your stepping stone is the more important it is to reinforce as well as let concrete cure thoroughly before putting in use. Thank you for watching💯

    Hi Marcie!! I Love your video!! And have a question... How can i do sea glass?

    • @marcieziv
      @marcieziv  3 роки тому

      Thank you Maria🥰 making faux sea glass is very simple. The way I did it ( and I have a video please see How to Make Sea Glass) is by breaking glass bottles snd putting the fragments into a rock tumbler. Check out that vid( I started with a small tumbler and then went on to a machine that has a 20lb capacity) there’s a lot of info in that vid .. the follow up to that was sea glass ideas.. all the ways I was using the sea glass in a landscape. And it shows the new machine I got. Thank you for watching Maria.

    New subscriber here. Love your stepping stones! Could you give me some advice? I have wanted a rock tumbler for years, but when I check them out, the information is overwhelming and I am so confused. Do you think you have to buy an expensive one to do simple projects or could you lean towards a cheaper one and get good results? If you could give me some info, I would be so appreciative! Thanks

    • @marcieziv
      @marcieziv  3 роки тому

      My pleasure .. first thank you for subscribing to my young channel. Second, let’s address the rock tumbler. I purchased my first Rock tumbler at harbor freight. You can get the same one on Amazon I believe. I too at the beginning was so confused about what to buy I was surfing websites and blogs about people who use rock Tumblr‘s to tumble rock etc. etc. and what kind of materials they used as far as the aggregate and it was pretty overwhelming and I would just put the topic aside for a while. Many machines That were on Amazon came with necklace things in a little pending send stuff to make jewelry but I don’t want all that I just wanted a rock Tumblr and the coarsest great I could possibly fine to tumble my broken glass bottles.. so I bought the harbor freight 3 pound dual tumbler. It’s a very inexpensive investment up front and then you can decide if you like it. You can see the HF machine in one of videos I put up. One vid on making faux sea glass in rock tumbler and follow up vid on what was made with all of the faux sea glass. The ne t thing I learned from folks at Mjr rock tumblers in Chicago is that the number 36 grit will do the trick for getting the look of sea glass tumbled in a machine. You don’t need to go buying the pellets and other grits if the intention is to make faux sea glass. I hope this helps. I believe tumbler from hf was about $50. And a 5 pound bag of really course grit $20....so that’s it my friend. Tumble on ...btw... the folks at Mjr sell rock tumblers as well as grits of course and have a lot of info.

    What is the working time you have to apply your design before the cement gets too hard?

    • @marcieziv
      @marcieziv  2 роки тому

      Your time frame is very short. If you are using rapid set I would advise you to have your entire design ready to go and regular concrete mix is a bit longer but advisable to plan your work and work your plan quickly.

    Hello ma'am! If I'm going to use broken tiles,I'm worried, will it be slippery?Most of my broken tiles are glossy type.

    • @marcieziv
      @marcieziv  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Pacita! Ok so my answer would be yes. Most likely slippery. However, you could still design your stepping stones so they are more for garden decorative not for a pathway of getting to one place from another in garden. There’s many reasons to make the stones. Some are for pathways and some for garden accents😊thank you for watching💯

    Why did you use both concrete and concrete aggregate?

    • @marcieziv
      @marcieziv  2 роки тому

      Hi. My reasoning was because I was adding /pressing glass pieces in to the top the extra cement would provide more space. The concrete has a lot of rock… I quite often take some of that rock out as well.😀 thank you for watching

    Why don’t you pour the mixture into the water. I do and it works great for me. The trick is you have to poor a little at a time then mix, add more, the continue mixing but do not mix while adding! It will splatter everywhere
