I agree! Since all the gameplay videos dropped, I’ve been thinking to myself that much of it looks A LOT like Day of Reckoning 1 and 2. I loved those games.
Day of Reckoning 2 is my favorite wrestling game. I have 10 memory cards of CAW that I played more than any wrestling game in my life. If AEW is as fun then I'm in for a treat

HCTP is a great time, but Day of Reckoning 2 would be the greatest wrestling game ever imo, and probably in general if it featured everything No Mercy had (branching stories, backstage fighting, ect.) with DOR’s polish and additions. Hopefully AEW will be an absolute treat, after all these years since DOR2; I’d would love for the combat to transition just as beautifully seamlessly.
DOR is great, and feels the most like No Mercy, but the gameplay was nowhere near as clean as an AKI game. In multi-man matches, moves can be interrupted so easily, making it frustrating to pull anything off. Even in 1 on 1 matches, the ref would almost always take a bump from like a suplex you did on your opponent. That was too annoying for me.
That is what I loved about it a person can slam another person into someone else and two people take damage. Kind of was realistic since sometimes people slam someone onto another.

DoR 1 & 2 we’re awesome! As I’ve been watching the Fight Forever vids, I keep thinking it’s the DoR engine updated for modern consoles! Glad to know I wasn’t the only person thinking this.
Yes this looks like it's so much better than AEW fight forever that Day of Reckoning looks like it's a outdated game. 🤦 I'm not saying day of reckoning is a bad game but what I am saying you can tell it was early GameCube days. So no it's not.

The collision mechanic is what makes this game so much fun.
Yeah especially whenever you peform a move and the opponent is near you they will get hit from it. It was annoying but a funny mechanic too
