Hey guys, for those who are confused, this is a repost of a video I posted a couple days ago. I had a foolish editing mistake in the other one that I didn't want to leave, so I removed it and reposted this one. If anybody has any questions about what RC they should choose for their child, please post below!
Thanks for the info. Can’t seem to locate that police car body on your son’s car. Happen to know where to find?
@@oldline90 It's just a Proline stadium truck body for a Traxxas Rustler that I painted and added the decals & light bar to. One of my first videos, as bad as it was, went over that car in detail.
I’ll check it out, thanks. Looks factory!
@bepis man save a few more bucks until you can get an ECX Circuit.
@bepis man 1/18 torment smaller brawler
I saved up to buy my first hobby grade rc car because my parents didn’t want to buy them. So once I got 400 dollars, I asked my dad to take me to our first LHS. I walked in and my eye ignored everything except a red rustler 4x4 vxl. I couldn’t walk away from it. And my dad noticed that. I told my dad I wanted that rustler but I was 90 dollars short because I needed to buy the battery and charger. He agreed to pay the remaining 120ish (because taxes). And there I got my first hobby grade. And man am I so happy
My son, who is nearly 4, is adamant he wants a remote control monster truck for Christmas. I’m so glad I found your video before making a purchase. Plenty to consider and now I feel I will make a more appropriate choice when deciding on what to buy. Many thanks. - Adam 🇬🇧
Thank you so much for this informative video! Our son attended an RC race car birthday a few months back at a hobby shop that had a huge track for the race cars...I never knew such a thing existed in the world! So upon recommendation of his friend's dad who grew up in this hobby, my husband and I purchased the Traxxas Rustler Model 37054-1 as a Christmas present for our son. It's now the day after Christmas and we are reading through the manual to set this thing up and I'm just praying we get it right! We are near a hobby shop and I did put that friend's dad on notice that I'm coming to him (with his favorite beverage of choice of course) whenever we need help, but is there any words of wisdom/advice you have for those of us that just jumped in with both feet and truly feel overwhelmed by the amount of information at the outset?
Great video I just picked up to stampede 2x brush for my twin 9 year olds for Christmas. Dad got a maxx lol. All off road track play for now.
I got none because "girls arnt supposed to play with cars " =/ there goes my childhood ☹😟😔😢
Damn, buy a small WLToys 12428. It’s cheaper and is a good starter. Bout 30 MPH and is 1/12. Good suspension. All plastic, but it has metal parts, brushless motor. It’s plastic but super durable. My nephew, 7, has fun with it. But, the point is, it’s cheap. You should save up.
I ordered my almost 9 year old son a Traxxas slash 2wd kit form my local RC shop for Christmas. I loved the video keep up the good work
My parents got me the rustler for Christmas when I was 13 I would recommend it if it’s mostly off road and a lower budget
LMAO bought my son a Toy Grade truck from Walmart.... broke the A arm in 5 mins of him having the Remote
@Chiron Keller ikr
@Chiron Keller yeah it didn't steer worth a crap.. and it didn't matter how fast it was, when it's built cheap as hell anything would have broke it lol
This is honestly excellent. Thank you so much for putting in all this effort!
Thank you for the tips! I'm not a parent, but I am very interested in RC cars. I remember my grandma getting me a 1:18 scale Ramone from cars when I was about 7. I used it literally once, and I literally bumped into a wall and it never worked again. saddest fricking rc car i have ever seen.
Hey great channel. My son is 4 and loves fast, smashing, and loud cars. I have been through everything in this video. Wish I tuned in earlier. I now own a 1/8 arrma notorious. 1/8 force rc epidemic. A 1/8 scale zd racing. 2 1/18 scale buggies from wl toys. Burned through 5-10 toy grade rc to just have them die from moisture or ran too many times. Now I have purchased a used 1/10 scale traxxas rustler. First time in over a year I made a good choice. Came in terrible condition, fixed it up. Total cost was 100$ Canadian for the rustler and he loves it, tells his friends about it and wants to go out all the time now. Check out his vid just posted it 3 days ago.
The Rustler is a great choice.
The rusler is a awesome car if he gets bored of it you can change the cassis to a slash or stampede or the buggy they all use the same parts !
I found this video in hopes of getting a rc for my nephew and I can’t thank your video enough I have a good feeling my 3 year old nephew would love a monster truck 1/10 scale and I can teach and show him the love and joy of driving an RC. Video helped making the decision easier in what type and kind of truck to look at for him
I just purchased a Kyosho Monster Tracker for my 4 year old which I believe is similar to the Amp you mentioned with a similar price tag as well. I was looking at getting the Amp but they were mostly sold out. Any experience with Kyosho products?
No, unfortunately I don't have any Kyoshos. From what I've seen, they tend to be decent overall vehicles. They've got a couple onroads that I'd like to check out.
I just bought a rc-toy , the batman 'caped crusader', although it used to be my hobby, I'm not sure if the little one also likes it.
That's why i bought him a cheaper one, from a comic-character he likes .
If he destroys this or drives it alot, I'll be buying a decent one for easter probably.
Very curious now at the moment, since I'd love to build him a good one..we'll see x-)
And yes, I'm guilty, i actually would love to start off this hobby again , hahaha
This was an excellent video for a parent starting to look into hobby grade RC cars. Thank you very much, I appreciate it!
Hosim 9125 was my first hobby grade. I got a TRAXXAS SLASH the other day ( Christmas)
This is what I needed to hear. Cute kids. 👍
Yeah i got my son a traxxas bigfoot he loved it
I just got a redcat for Christmas and there extremely capable and I definitely recommend for people who think crawling is cool. I also built a course in a flower bed in my backyard
1/10 scale cars also have the more budget friendly upgrades since so many people make motors and stuff.
I have the Everest 7 pro and traxxas erevo 2.0
Loving this one can't go wrong with the price and upgraded parts just add powerful batteries with charger it's a win win situation 🙏🙏🙏🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲💪💪💪
Thank you! This information has been very helpful!
I'm glad it helped!
This was a good explanatory beginner video.
Do make more beginner tips videos
I played with RC cars when I was a kid but now that i've been out of the hobby for 20 years, I wanted to see how things have changed. I was afraid the hobby had gotten too technical for something I only want to dabble with. This video was perfect. Break it down to something simple without too many options and give a good recommendation for a well supported car. Well done with this video.
Thanks!
Can you comment on the ECX AMP MT range with standard remote and receiver? I’ve read some articles that the range is only between 40-50 yards. Is that accurate?
@@Davpmars to be honest, I don't typically drive my cars that far away because they're difficult to see, but I don't recall ever having issues with range. That said, the price of the Circuit and Ruckus have come down to only a few bucks more than the Amp, and those models come with the much better Spectrum radios, so if range is a concern, those models will be the best choice.
this video made me feel a lot better about picking out a RC for Christmas. thank you!
Am I the only one that goes back to these videos just for fun. I have been in the hobby for years and own 27 cars. I just come back because I enjoy watching any kind of RC videos
How good are 12 scale cars
Most of them are low quality and use 1/18 scale electronics. I would skip them.
Thanks for the review - I'm looking at your recommended ECX Amp MT for a 3-yo. You Did you mod it in any way to make it safer for a small kid starting out, or were you comfortable with the speed out of the box?
It's pretty slow out of the box, but there is also a throttle rate knob on the controller that you could use to dial it back if you wanted to.
So simple words but you reading them one buy one just speak tell us what u know it will be much better then reading ur script
That was a very informative Video. I am going to try this. Thanks a lot, I will let ya know how it goes. Merry Christmas to You and Yours. Can’t wait to see what they get.
I'm glad it was helpful! Merry Christmas.
Slash and rustler 4x4s a good option
I got a Stampede 2wd for Christmas back in 2017 (upgraded it to an arrma blx 3s system in 2018) and had that thing until September of 2020 when my dad bought me a used ERevo 2.0 for my birthday. I freakin love that ERevo :)
i have a ecx amp too. a mt version. but isnt it a monster truck? and does a 8th scale motor fit inside?
No, a 1/8 scale motor won't fit. Even if it did, you'd destroy the transmission and axle shafts.
Just wanted to say I watched your video on what RC car to buy for my grandson who's 9 years old and I had so many questions when I first started watching your video and now so much is so clear and I really feel like I know what I'm doing now as far as picking out what kind of vehicle to get him for Christmas. Thank you for all the time and effort that you put into making these videos, they're AWESOME!!!!😀
Well said. Really like the kids info. Merry Christmas my friend
Thank you. Merry Christmas to you also.
Hii I have a 3year old who is obsessed with cars.can you recommend a car the will last him long and also that he can grow with please??
The recommendation that I made in the video for 2WD ECX vehicles is still my recommendation. They're very durable, and are upgradeable as your child grows. Regardless of what brand or model you choose, you do need to be able to make repairs, because even the best brands will have inevitable failures. One benefit to ECX is that they're sold in local hobby shops, so if you're not capable of fixing it, your hobby shop can.
@@BudgetRC_Channel thanks alot🙂
When I was five my dad got a traxxas revo 3.3 and we lived, I’m 13 now and bought my own rustler 2wd vxl 5 months ago and love it
I will buy rc car
Great video and tons of good information out there getting ready to buy a four-year-old his first hobby grade he loves monster trucks so I’m thinking the big foot might be our direction
Any reviews on the ECX AMP Crush?
It's so similar to other ECX vehicles that it's not really worth a review. It's a Ruckus with the Amp electronics.
I just bought my first hobby grade rc it's a danchee ridge rock Im so exited
My age is 12
Excellent and informative video. Your explanation of scale was exactly what I was looking for. I am curious though, is difference between 1/10th and 1/12th significant? Thank you for the video.
Believe it or not, yes. Most 1/12 scale stuff used 1/18 sized components and electronics, and tend to be underbuilt.
Great video! Your time and efforts produced a good informative video here for those in the market for their first RC. Thanks!,
Nice video. I have a few nieces and nephews that I’m thinking about getting an RC car. This was informative and enjoyable. I definitely liked your kid’s input. Thanks.
hi
UR MOM
K
any suggestion for buying a first RC monster truck for a child? Affordable one please . Thanks
Look at ECX offerings, as I described in the video.
Hi, im looking for a great stadium truck between 100-160, would you have any ideas?
ECX Amp or Circuit
I let my dad drive my senton for like 3 minutes and now he wants one
My son is 4 what’s a good rc I’m thinking of getting him one I have nitro tmaxx revo and 4 tec but I don’t want to get him those because their to fast 🤔
Exactly the ones that I recommended in the video for beginners. I'm a big fan of ECX.
Awesome video! To the point and explained well. I’m trying to find a rc for my nephew and this helps. Do most rc batteries last around 30mins and how do you extend the run time? Buy more batteries?
Larger capacity batteries will last longer. In a typical brushed truck, the stock batteries will last 5-10 minutes. A 5000mah pack will last over a half hour, and larger packs will go even longer. Lipo have more power, but require a lipo charger.
This was a really good video Sir. Thank you for your knowledge
👍
👍
Great informative video. What is the buggy in the video, and your daughters crawler ?
The Buggy is a Hobbyking BZ-444 or something like that. It's discontinued as far as I know. The toy crawler was a Miasto from Walmart or Target
Thank you, getting my son a RC car for Xmas and this answered all of my questions.
Decided on getting two of the ECX Amp stadium trucks. From the videos I've watched, I guess 4wd is not really needed? Doesn't look they make an Amp in 4wd anyway. We'll mostly be on grass, dirt and small hills.
@Chiron Keller Thank you
Super great video ! 🙌🏻👌🏼🍻
This is the best RC beginner video I 've seen so far, and I 've seen a few in my time! Subscribed!
Thanks!
Hi Jimmi, always great video! Hey do you have also a FB page?

What is the best for rc parks
I'm not sure what an RC park looks like, but your best bet is to see what type of vehicles others are using and start there.
does anybody recommend the traxxas slash 4x4?
i can buy it for 250€
The Slash is a great truck. It's probably the most popular RC platform in existence. My only knock on it is that the smaller tires on Short Course trucks along with their lower ground clearance limits the type of terrain that they can run on, and they're significantly more expensive than what most beginners are comfortable with. I turned my Stampede into a Slash MT and it's a beast!
Amazing video... Any Amazon links you can share?
I would just search for the specific models that you're interested in, but in my experience, Amazon isn't generally the best place for brand name RC cars.
@@BudgetRC_Channel thanks I'm in Italy for a while so it's harder to find shops and I'm sure they will be crazy expensive
press show more then you will see some links
Excellent youtuber, enjoy the content👌
Thanks!
Really well done
Thanks!
Really helpful. Excellent presentation.
Thank you!
And, very cute kids as well.
@@BudgetRC_Channel I have a question. At your recommendation, I'm going to buy my 7 year old grandson an Arma Granite Voltage as his first RC car. In you video, you mentioned that additional lithium arma batteries can be bought. I would like to buy four more of these to fill out the 6-battery capacity. But, I could not find these on a google search. Could you please give me a link, or the exact name of the additiional battery packs? Thanks.

Hobby grade are not meant to be played at home, that's why toy grade rc's exist
That's ridiculous. Hobby grade isn't just for the track. In fact, race-based models are only a small part of the overall hobby-grade market.
This is a good video
Thanks!
Read that script boy
It sure beats listening to a bumbling moron repeat himself 50 times.
Great video. VERY HELPFUL ‼️ Thank you
