  • I head out on a walking tour of Downtown Detroit. Detroit is an up and coming city destination for many travelers. Detroit is home to great parks, restaurants, entertainment venues, and sporting arenas. I start off the walking tour at Hart Plaza located between Jefferson Avenue and the Detroit River and then start walking north on Woodward Avenue which goes by sights like the Spirit of Detroit statue, Campus Martius Park, and the Fox Theatre. I then head over by Comerica Park and Ford Field before walking over toward the Detroit Opera House. I later walk through Greektown before returning to Jefferson Avenue and then walking over toward Cadillac Square, Griswold Street, Washington Blvd, and then finishing off on Grand River Avenue near the main bus station.

    I fell in love with the Motor city when I first visited the city in 2014 and then I took my mother in 2015. My mother and I volunteered with a tree farm off 7 mile Road and we had a great time helping and checking out downtown. My mom passed away on 5/7/24 from Bile Duct cancer and to honor her I’m going back to Detroit to volunteer again and tour the city next month! For your, MOM! RIP 🙏

      Those are some great memories! I'm sorry to hear about your loss! I think that is great that you are volunteering in Detroit coming up as a dedication to her.

    "It's not Chicago and it's not New York..." but it's a fine little city anyway that is coming into its time again.

      Yep, that's a great summary! Detroit is gaining more publicity in a more positive way now which is great to see.

    You use to be able to drive up and down the beginning of Woodard, downtown! They closed it off!

      I remember them doing that several years ago. While it is nice that you can easily walk over to the Spirit of Detroit statue, I do miss being able to turn onto Woodward from Jefferson instead of having to go to Griswold and then Larned in order to get onto Woodward.

    What an extensive and great video, nice to see all details and hear your comments. It seems that the height of Hudson Tower was revised to 209m, so it will only be the 2nd tallest in Detroit once completed. You should do a movie from the people mover as well, it seems cool!

      Thank you for the comment! That's good to know about the Hudson Tower. I think I even heard that just this past week too. I definitely want to do a full ride (on video) of the People Mover as it would be fun to do. Thanks for watching!

    is there any good hotel with safe parking in detroit if you may know? great video

      Thanks! I have not stayed in any hotel in Detroit since I live in the metro area, so I cannot answer this question 100%. Generally, any of the hotels in the downtown core is usually in a safe area, and I would recommend parking in parking area designated by the hotel especially if it is a garage. You will most likely be OK as long as you do not keep any valuables out in the open, leave your windows fully closed, and keep your doors locked.

      @@scottman895 alright thanks for the info! i will rent a car and was thinking that perhaps it will be a problem since they can see that its a rental, but ill take your advices and hope for the best ! :D

      @@UnderwaterFishFilms Of course! I would make sure that you either have insurance coverage through the credit card you use to rent the car or purchase the insurance the rental car company offers so that in the unlikely case something happens, you will not have to pay any damages. Enjoy your trip!

      All the hotels offer a parking garage or lot. You can valet as well. Most of the hotels are safe and generally have security. I would check the reviews before you come, but Marriott, Hilton, and the boutique hotels are nice and safe.

    I guess you can say that there's some pros and cons of doing these walking tours outside of tourism season.

    • @scottman895
      @scottman895  4 місяці тому +1

      Very true. Having this be outside of tourism season makes things a lot easier for navigation, but of course it does not take advantage of the many events which take place in downtown especially in Downtown Detroit with Hart Plaza.
