Yes, the male dancer was Lionel Blair, he was the British equivalent to Fred Astaire or Gene Kelly and all he got was a two minute cameo in this. He really deserved better
a) there was no British equivalent of Fred Astaire or Gene Kelly, get real b) did you expect them to rename the movie The World of Lionel Blair??? what is it you think he deserved? he was hired to dance a cha cha, he executed, he went home. end of story
Who knew Lionel Blair was an actor too as well as a dancer. One of the best movie of it time, so beautifully made. My late parents watched the movie in a cinema in Mauritius just before they left the island for the U.K. in the 1960s. Such a classical movie. Surprisingly, the main actress who played Suzie Wong, she’s actually biracial as her mother was a white European with English and Scottish ancestry, Hollywood maintaining its constant institutionalised racism and keeping a firm hold on the white privileged brigade, just saying
I looked up this video to find out what kind of dance they were doing since the closed captions on Amazon Prime said (samba music) but I was pretty sure that was not samba dancing haha. Glad to know this is what cha-cha looks like.
That's truly good for her to open a movie studio in her home land in China and I definitely love her in this film, pure imagination. I can make a film of a hairstylist with a hair conditioned disease, trying to make it from college and working as a call girl to escape the dooldrums of a small racist north Carolina town. Maybe I can make things a lot simplier than just direct and write,I can open a studio in this town-goldsboro,n.c.

Growing up i thought suzy wong was THE most beautiful i'd ever seen...
Nancy Kwan truly held the scenes and expressed well on camera
I saw the whole movie the other night and thought, “ girl can MOVE!”
This is a great movie and I'm reading the book now which is also very good.
Cha cha into a mambo. muy excelente. Worth seeing the movie just for this, but what a cast!

The male dancer is fantastic dancer but who is watching him?
Speak for yourself ducky
Nancy Kwan was called the Asian Bridget Bardot.
from cha cha cha to mumbo and salsa?
Como poder ver la película completa
Susie....... :)
The dancer is Lionel Blair, she'll get nowhere with him!
Does anyone else see a resemblance to Natalie Wood?
+jerlan23 No. Nancy Kwan had a magic all her own.
No way. Natalie was softer. And her hubby killed her and should have been..
Now that you mention it
