Great scene featuring dance. But the dance scene in ANY Black movie that I found to be the most Mesmerizing is the first big dance scene from the film Idlewild! When I think about it, it makes my eyes flood tears and I am so esteemed to be a part of Black America!! We are a beautiful people and can dance, dance, dance! Like NO other people! I will love us beyond the grave!

Go to a place that has partner dancing, and live music. Some of them will give basic lessons if you get there early and pay a little extra cover charge. Partner dancing is a social skill many of us lack so it gets awkward, but it is also fun.
Mass media has created a mythological yesteryear that looks more pleasant than it actually was. Dance clubs in the 1950s had problems with violence too. Watch out for your safety, but find people you trust and have fun with them. If nothing else, learn some solo dances to do by yourself where it is safe. Shim sham is a dance you could learn by yourself, and it connects to Lindy hop (the dance style they did in this video).

The closest thing I can say I've experienced to dancing like this was the golden age of underground raves. Late 90s early 2000s. We would dress up, hunt down the events... And run into the fence floor. You always saw the same regulars and friends. It was a cool culture of dance and expression. Until it was commercialized
