- In the very first video to exclusively cover pro wrestling in over 1.5 YEARS, I go through the card of Royal Rumble 2016 and give my thoughts, including the "twist" ending of the Rumble match itself.

Couple of thoughts about the vid (and Rumble): First, on how you did the video: the visual aid was pretty cool, I'm not a fan however of the editing/cutting bits style that you had. Compared to your other videos, it makes it seem like it lacks personality and just that "dsp feel".
Regarding the Rumble, it was a very solid ppv to start the year, mostly agree with all that you said for the matches previous to the rumble itself. I know that you don't want to make the video too long, but you could have described more and included more details about the match.
Lastly, the ending. The Royal Rumble is one of the biggest tools for their storyline telling. I liked how they setup multiple potential stories within the Rumble, not just for the Main Event. Including Jericho, the Wyatts and Lesnar, etc.
Realistically Phil, who else do you see winning the Rumble besides Roman or Triple H? The ending made sense. With their injury situation, there are only about 4 guys who can main event Wrestlemania, and face it, Triple H is one of them. The Main Event is always catered towards the mainstream viewer who tunes in for Wrestlemania season and the family man, those people recognize Triple H. Wrestlemania is a mainstream event for a mainstream audience, and the smarks don't fall into that category. The argument could always be made that creative should have already built new top superstars, but they don't have time for that right now. Doc Gallows in the main event? I don't think so.
It's nice to see continuity and storylines that make sense, I agree it's not the most original, but they don't have the flexibility to play around with new stuff as they are in a dire situation with injuries and time.
Overall: I give the ppv an 8/10 (Give a rating on the PPV too).
Great Video Phil, I look forward to more of your WWE review/recap videos. The complaints about the editing I enjoy this type of video it helps the flow and gives it a nice feel in my opinion. Keep up the great work Phil been a viewer of yours for a long time.

I like these "Phil Reacts" videos. Not just this wrestling one, but other stuff too. I know you shied away from it for a while for fear of people saying shit like selling out. But I like this expanding of your horizons along with the montage channel. Best of luck to you Phil. I have only just recently gotten back into some of your content, but I have been subscribed on and off (mostly on) since 2009

Instead of his series being called "Phil Reacts", he should change it to "Phil Rants" seeing that every episode has been more negative than positive.

This was awesome Phil i hope you do more of these in the future! In my opinion i thought the royal rumble was fantastic, the action was great and the ending was really predictable but lets be honest, did any of us really wanted roman reigns to win? I sure as hell didn't i hate that muthafucka lol. Anyways Phil what do you think of Kevin Owens? He's legitimately the top heel in the company and he is arguably one of the best wrestlers in the WWE today. Do you see a title on him anytime soon? He's gonna be in a rivalry with AJ Styles all the way to wrestlemania because he eliminated him and they have bad blood towards each other since Ring Of Honor, honest to god that will be fantastic too see again but in the WWE and not ROH (Ring Of Honor). Now whats your opinion on that too?

So how about the Wyatts? I was really hoping that perhaps Bray might have been the winner by using the Family to just destroy people. Unfortunately, that didn't happen. It would've been interesting and different. I don't think anyone's ever actually won the Rumble using the full faction gang-up strategy. People have used it to get some eliminations, but never won specifically due to it.

I really enjoyed the Royal Rumble this year. The best match was Ambrose vs. Kevin Owens. I was expecting to see more surprise superstars in the rumble though but it was amazing to see AJ Styles, Sami Zayn, & also Triple H get back in the ring. I would've liked to see someone new win the rumble and get under the spotlight. I agree that it's time for new people to shine but I just don't think the stupid wwe writers will allow it unfortunately lol

When Kevin Owens entered the match did anyone notice how he came down to the ring with a limp and then as soon as he got in the ring it suddenly went away? Well, anyway, I liked how Styles and Owens went at it for about two minutes before Owens eliminated Styles so maybe there will be something to see there? Or the possible revival of the Zayn/Owens rivalry. I'll pretty much be watching WWE to see what happens there.
I was a huge wrestling fan in the 90s and early 2000s stopped around 05. So my uncle gives me his wwe network account info to watch the rumble and I 100 fucking percent agree with you Phil. They're doing the same shit they back when I use to watch it. I'm will keep watching because I really like the young talent but come the fuck on. I see fucking Jericho in the ring for 50 minutes barely holding on and triple H become the champion gassed after 5 minutes. while the white guy with the lunatic shtick was amazing the whole night. Nice to see I didn't miss nothing the past 11 years

in a way the only thing i wanna know is, how is going to challenge Undertaker on Wrestlemania... The rumors are going that this would be the Undertaker's last Wrestlemania... i just hope it isn't Triple H or any other Wrestler how already has the spotlight on them... i hope Taker goes down wrestling someone new and how he can pass the torch to

very much agreed. I liked most of the show (having not watched since HIAC) and the Rumble was decent but the end was a letdown and predictable as per usual. Didn't think they'd actually follow through with HHH winning it.. but I guess we're getting this shit storyline and him vs Roman no matter what at 32. That is not "biggest 'Mania of all time" worthy in my opinion. would say more but eh I don't care as much anymore, we'll see what happens.

i personally liked it. yes i understand your mentality for Roman/Austin similarities but in my opinion Reigns is at his best, or best we've seen, when he is chasing something. when he is the champion hes completely un-fun, un-interesting, boring, childish character. when he is getting screwed he turns on a badass mode that makes me intrigued. it wont be a terrible match, i dont think, but its definetley not the #1 match on my mind. i wanna see like you stated, AJ Styles, Y2J vs Ambrose, Bray vs Lesnar, New Day, Sasha vs Charlotte, if Undertaker is getting involved theres enough there to tide me over that i can look past the cliche, rehashed stuff and enjoy the match for what it is

WHY DIDN'T THEY JUST DO A DEAN VS ROMAN REIGN FUED
1. Have Roman retain his title or put the belt on Dean
2. Have a tournament on Raw and have Roman win
3. Have there FUED be about how they were once apart of a great team and how they are brothers and it lead into either Dean Retaining or Roman winning the title
It may be the best story line but it's a hell of a lot better then having a old man fighting in the main event AGAIN!!!
Because that would make too much sense.
I wanna see Rollins come back and Fight Tripple H in wrestelmania like it was originally planned before his injury. Roman Reigns is cheesy to me personally.

I hated the ending! Triple H is in his 40s. He should be main eventing anything! What about Reigns. Who actually got booed as he re-entered the rumble then subsequently Triple H got cheered for throwing him out. WWE needs to make Reigns a heel because the fans will never get behind him the way he is now.
Anyway. I won't be watching anything except for NXT till mania as I feel WWEs main shows are a huge waste of my time.
