Your point on Hardware integration is SO important. In fact its a must have IMO.
Agreed... All the other DAWs are mentioned in compatibility but Cakewalk is no where to be found... And it shows when you try and use hardware in the DAW something is always not working like it's supposed to... We shall see what they do with the pricing that is going to determine what happens next in my opinion... Thanks for the comment...😀🙏🏾
I am a user who has been using Cakewalk for over 30 years. The function of the cakewalk I want is a toolbar that the user can create at will.
Like the skil bar of mmorpg game... If you specify the frequently used functions in the toolbar I think it will be much more comfortable.
The other thing I want is that Cakewalk has a touch screen monitor I wish I could use it more perfectly than now.
And finally, I hope the cakewalk works more stably than it does now. Cakewalk still has some bugs.
The problem of getting very bad distortion when playing certain ogg files, and the problem of the audio track automatically fading when loading a project I worked on in the past, etc...
I know how to handle almost all existing DAWs but my main DAW is cakewalk.

That's what's up... I definitely understand... Many people have been using Cakewalk for a long time but they need to update the DAW in order to compete especially when they are going to start charging for the software they are missing so many things that other DAWs have standard and for an affordable price... Why did they announce it almost a year ago? If they weren't ready to release it within a few months, they should have waited. People are getting more pissed off by the day and moving to other DAW's.
I've only used Cakewalk/Sonar, and don't want to have to learn something new. They've got to know what the pricing structure will be, why not give us that info at least? As far as I'm concerned, they've screwed up so far. They better start getting it together soon or they'll only be a handful of loyal customers left to buy or subscribe the new software. And if they make the giant mistake of making Sonar subscription based, that's the end of Cakewalk.

I’ve been using Cakewalk for over 20 years and a big fan
1. I agree with you that most users want to own the main software like their DAW. I would be comfortable paying $200-300 for a permanent ownership with some upgradability included for 3 years.
2. If I had to pay monthly I would pay up to $15/month. Anything higher I would begin using another DAW.
Many of these items, infact most were part of Sonar, perhaps if Bandlab generates income with Cakewalk, they would have the resources to develop these addon items. The browser issues, I have to agree!

Ceremony melodyne essential is already practically free if one does their research.
It's not free they set it up to be a demo mode for 30 days and then you have to purchase it... Especially the new version of melodyne the older one use to work well but when I updated all that changed... Thanks for the comment...😀🙏🏾
Ya, the auto stretch/shrink option, like Reaper would be nice. As well as the ability to drag out the loop without having to copy and paste it across the lane then still having to line it up right. The ability to change the tempo, within reason,, say ten bpm either way, and having the audio follow would be nice too. Not impressed with the advanced screening version of Sonar thus far and I kind of see them selling subscriptions to Bandlab to unlock features on the new Sonar as a way of stealthily testing just what people are willing to pay subscription wise.

Id actually like for them to remove the pro channel all together, like have all those modules as stand alone plugins inside cakewalk

Yeah me too. I want the option to remove it and bring it back when I need it.
The pro channel is one of my favorite features in CbB.
It can help the overall mix sound cohesive using the console emulators
I think Reaper is Light years ahead of Cakewalk, I feel like cakewalk is a used car with 250,000 miles on it, the new version is just a paint job and a tune up but with the same motor and the same transmission. I'm not too excited about a DAW with technology that's a decade old, There is no drum sampler, the time stretch function clicks and pops at the loop points, Video integration/editing is not good, and the browser is super slow. The GUI/Screen also lags
Yea Cakewalk does need to step it up in my opinion as well but it's still a good DAW very easy to learn and understand... It just needs some updates to compete with all the new DAWs out... I really hate that they are dragging there feet with the pricing that is what most people are waiting for to see what direction they want to go next... Thanks for the comment...😀🙏🏾
Regarding hardware integration - This is the single biggest reason I've ever used Cakewalk. I have custom instrument definitions for all of my outboard gear and it works better than any other sequencing software. Cakewalk started as a MIDI sequencer. It wasn't until Pro Audio 6 that they started to integrate digital audio.
For me I'm not so much interested kn different plugins and instruments as I mainly use third party. But I would love som more DAW-functionality I have in Cubase (even if I mostly prefer the workflow in Cakewalk/Sonar and it is my main DAW) like the Control Room, Chord Pads, and the ability to have inserts both pre and post fader. Also some sort of enhanced wav editor

I know they took the TTS-1 out of the most recent CBB update, but I don't know if it it will still be in Sonar. Something like that is also a must for Sonar. Not just for having a basic collection of instruments but also for previewing and loading General Midi files! TTS-1's interface is pretty bad though, so a new one would be great. But they need something like that.
Agreed ... They need instruments period... The 3 they have are cool but they need more than that to compete against the other DAWs that have way more instruments... Yea the loss of tts1 will definitely hurt some people but it is a old file and cause crashing sometimes so I understand why they would get rid of it... Thanks for the comment...😀🙏🏾

I started in a 24 track studio, used Pro Tools before it was a 'product' I transitioned through it all, as a pro. I use Cakewalk because I record music. Making midi 'stuff' is not the same as a musician making music with an instrument and recording it. Totally different concept. It is all just tools...and Cakewalk does more than is needed for me, always has. I'd prefer all the midi stuff was removed and put in some add-on disco package...lol :O)

Whatever issue CW has with driver settings and speed really needs an update. Great daw for MIDI and ARA but a project I can run in Reaper at 64 is most often running at 1024 in CW. Fix this and I’m in still onboard. Positive vibes that the new Sonar is fit for purpose and integrates with hardware as required ✌️

CAKEWALK is highly customizable and the native plugins are superb.
Plus it's free.
What's not to like?
I like Cakewalk but to keep up with the other DAWs especially since we are going to a paid model... Why would I pay for Cakewalk when another DAW has more features and more reliable and cost the same... I can see many people looking for other DAWs if the pricing isn't right.. but we will see.. I want to see Cakewalk live on but if they don't add stuff I don't see how they can survive...😞

I agree, but before implementing tools or features they should correct the bugs that midi has, especially the fact that dragging the automations of a channel also copies them to other channels

Limited drum machine functionality was in the old Sonar with SD3, I think it will be back in the new Sonar. The old paid for Sonar also had pitch correction from Roland V-Vocal and two rex-file compatible samplers

There is an additional sonitus EQ. And I find nothing wrong while stretching an audio.
why would I want to use the sonitus eq.... dont get me wrong the eq is ok.. but I like the option of having the eq in the pro channel i need more than one... lol

Hey X, I was wondering when you are going to review the new sampler that's been added to Sonar, XSampler? I know you and I have been begging for one for quite a while now. It's pretty basic, but it's something they can build upon in the future.
It the one only through subscription right now... I just found out the on subscription is an official release so I haven't tried it out at all.. hopefully if they come out with a perpetual version I can get it and go from there.. but we shall see..😀🙏🏾
I would like to see the "Channel Aftertouch and Key after touch" checkable boxes to remain checked. Its been decades since the developers damaged it resulting in its current failed state with not even so much as a promise to correct it.

There are 2 eq's. One in Pro channel ( if only we could place it elsewhere) and sonitus.
We need more than one in the pro channel that is what I was asking for ... I know we have a sonitus EQ it's not apart of the pro channel.. I hope that makes sense

I truly hope Bandlab loads up Sonar and sells it the same price as Logic. They can do it...and the impact of that would be massive IMO.
200.00 wouldn't be bad at all... But there are other DAWs with more features for that price like FL Studio... Traction waveform is a slept on one as well... And don't forget about Reaper.... But we will see what they do... Thanks for the comment...😀🙏🏾

It sounds like all you want is a bunch of plugins. All the things you are saying should be built into the DAW are simply a bunch of VSTS.
If that's how you see it... All the other DAWs have these options how can I expect people to purchase a product that is missing so many things and be happy with it... Only the people that have used Sonar for 20+ years would pay for a DAW lacking so much and be fine with it... The pricing is what matters the most... So we shall see...😀🙏🏾

@@XELOhh1 you only have access by way of original install media side by side.Not as a complete package. they should also continue to support and develop the software bandlab received as an asset back when they took possession of at the time of cakewalk being purchased by bandlab.

Just downloaded cakewalk on my new computer Can't find TTS -1 in cakewalk. Can anyone help.
Did you download the add on instruments.. SI Drums.. strings.. bass and electric piano i think it comes with that download unless they got rid of it already..🤔

First of all, nothing is missing in a free software.
As for the EQ, there are EQ in the plugins that comes in cakewalk.
As for the software speed, maybe your computer is messing something in there. Sometimes things like that happen.
Tempo, No software can read the name of the file and extract the tempo from it. It is not midi.
Key map of keyboard exist in Cakewalk.
Off course there's no price. They still developing it.
Bottom line, Cakewalk gives us much more for free then the paid software gives us.
I agree that Cakewalk gives a lot... But who cares if it was free it will not be free for long... Reaper can read the tempo of the samples in the media explorer that's why I use Reaper a lot more now... I have a gaming computer and the speed of the browser in Cakewalk is very slow compared to all the other DAWs that I use... Everything I talked about in this video are just suggestions to draw more people to look at Cakewalk especially when they start charging for the DAW and people compare what Cakewalk has and what other DAWs are offering... First, AI is what better be in cakewalk. All the rest can be found as third part plugins.
If you find Reaper doing better job, go and use Reaper.
As for the speed, you say you have gaming computer and it cakewalk runs slow... I hope you are not one of this guys...

Yes a lot of the things in video can be third party but if they were in cakewalk it would be more appealing especially when you have to pay for the DAW soon.. so do you stick with a DAW that cost the same as another DAW that has more stuff in it..? So let's say today they release sonar and only the UI has been updated and they say it will be 200.00 for the license would you by it as is or go to another DAW that has all the things I stated in the video for the same price? People want to feel like they are getting more when they pay for stuff at least I do ... not sure about the die hards but I would like for you to answer honestly do you want more or less?
I was not saying that Cakewalk is slow just the browser when you are searching is very slow compared to other DAWs

I'm sure that Bandlab know that the market is saturated with both free and paid video and Audio software which are very good. That makes the Ai as the game to play right now, so that's will be the best rout to take.
Few things that makes Cakewalk different. First, is the pro channel and all of it's extra plugins which are built in in any track.
Also the way it looks and feels. Yep, themes that looks the same can be written for different software and still, it is not the same.
Again, if reaper does wat you need, use it. very simple. There always will be someone who will come up with part in a software that other software don't do. That's the real progress. To learn new software every time that something "new" comes out is useless. If something still work, no need to fix it. Sometimes, companies destroy everything like windows did when they took the "start" menu from widows and made a mess for many users. a work around was needed and found but it was like listening to Pierre Boulez: Le soleil des eaux on a saturated master with phaser. Not pleasing at all.
Never had and issue with the speed... You might have an issue of drivers disturbing each other like you saw in the video of the graphic card K5000. That was a graphic card that Hollywood studios used back to make 3D stuff so no reason for it not to work on editing software unless there's a drivers issue.

The score editor is a good one . I have heard people ask for that for a while as well... A chord tracks would be nice as well I just don't see them doing it... But we shall see..👀
