@@JohnHenryDavisTheThird1987 Fr, the Big O is basically an existential horror anime disguised as a mecha show. To me the final scene and the speech Roger gave his speech is about coming to terms, which is said at the end of the episode. That is coming to terms with ones mortality, the fleetingness of memories, and what and who we are. At then end of the show we are shown that everything in the show is a simulation, a play with a script, the pieces playing their part, and I when I say they have come to terms, the characters (mostly Roger) have come to terms with the fact they are written, the fact they are actors, but they do not freak out, they do not go insane like Schwarzwald, because they most of all had Memories. They made memories, even if it all was a ploy, all (what could be considered false) it still mattered, because they had and made memories, their lives mattered, even if it was fiction. Because there was a them, because they knew there was a them, they had weight to what they had. Even if the world around us is false, we still live as human beings, therefore we are human beings. The end where everything falls apart is Roger coming to terms with the fact he is only written, that he is only an actor, without memories of the past and still finding meaning in it and accepting his existence.
Yeah, I didn't get that watching the series for the first time as a kid but watching it again my take is that it's easy for him to accept his "role" in the play. He's fucking "Roger Smith" lol. Like who else is the protagonist in this play. The ending now has a kind of solipsism to it that is almost narcistic in a way. Still a certified hood classic series though.
Someone's finally done it. You've accurately deciphered the message of the (confusing, yet entertaining) second season finale!! I feel like I finally understand what the series was trying to say-that we must come to terms with “reality,” in spite of how confusing and terrifying it is. I believe that if there was more time (e.g., more seasons) to flesh the series out, they would've been able to articulate the message in a clearer way (in the same way that End of Evangelion partly made up for the confusing final episodes of Evangelion). Thank you, sincerely!!!
Angel! Memories are very precious to people's lifes. They give us the opportunity to proof to ourselves that we exist! And if we lose them, we have an unrelenting feeling of uncertainty! You must listen to me! The humans that are living here and now in the present are made up of more than their memories of the past! I myself don't even know who I am, I don't have a single solitary memory about myself-but I don't believe anyone took them from me, I most-likely erased them of my own free will! I was the one who made that choice-I made it for myself, so I can live, in the present and in the future, because I must go on believing there is a me! Angel! I know that I'll never lose the you that as now apart of my memories-the you that met me, and the conviction you had in what you felt you needed to do, the you that loved yourself more than anyone else ever could! I would never forget this woman named Angel who once loved herself, yet was filled with such doubt. You must stop denying your own existence! You have to live as a human being! *-Roger The Negotiator*
This sounds like triumph, while Houston Street sounds like regret. Though..., the latter comes first. As there will always be success in those who endure distress.
It was the winter of 2011. We were snowed in, enjoying the warmth of blankets & each other as we held close to one another on the couch in that dimly lit basement. With the warm glow of the TV we watched old anime together while the smoke from our lungs filled the air along with our cheer. Watching Big-O we reflected on how the characters were all wrapped up within the past, present, & future. Characters stuck in a performance on the stage of life while trying to battle for the future as they tried desperately to remember the past when all that mattered was the present; characters stuck in a performance on the stage of life, just like us. Yes, there are some things man should never toy with. There are consequences that come to pass when they really shouldn't have happened at all. Humanity makes mistakes. To error is to be human. Just because man makes a mistake, doesn't mean he should forget. If man forgets the mistakes he's made will he not, in turn, make them again? Memories may fade, but nature remains the same. It is through these mistakes that man is granted passage. The passage of opportunity for renewal and redemption; all through the process of learning from said mistakes. There is no guarantee that man will learn. The slight possibility of man doing the right thing is more than enough merit for man to govern his own destiny

Is Angel the only real living person from this theatrical play of robot actors? 🎭

Absolutely poetic!!!!! :')
Angel is big venus. She knew what was at those controls
Final Fantasy vibes
Evangellion vibes and UFO vibes
Look up the theme to the 70s crime drama "Police Woman". Its a callback to the 70s & 80s style for drama serials.
