Indonesian (bahasa Indonesia) is a standardized register of Malay and the official language of Indonesia. Indonesia is a multi-lingual country and most Indonesians speak another language, however, the Indonesian language has been used as a lingua franca in the archipelago for centuries. Indonesian is also recognized as minority language in East Timor.
Tamil (தமிழ்) is a Dravidian language and is one of the longest-surviving classical languages in the world. It is predominantly spoken by the Tamil people of India and Sri Lanka, as well as a large community of Tamil speakers outside that region. In addition to Sri Lanka, Tamil also has official language status in Singapore, the Indian state of Tamil Nadu and the Indian Union Territory of Puducherry. Tamil is one of the 22 scheduled languages of India.

Kent McLeod . yeah not only beautiful but aslo powerful some tamil poets like bharathiyar , ellango atigal , kambar used their Language furiously , when you read and understand a poem called "ossi kuthu" written by bharathiyar which means dooms day dance - that refers about the final of earth , while reading it, all hairs on my body even facial hair started standing straight , goosebumps everywhere .

I wanted to start learning Tamil because of how rare it is to be spoken where I live and it’s such a contained language that isn’t spoken very much elsewhere outside of Tamil Nadu and Sri Lanka.
And might I ask where you are from?

The music and movies are a part of life it doesn't interfere much with the traditions in both Sri Lanka and India but few of them are too involved with movies and entertainments than religion.I don't want to talk much about tigers but I can say one thing the main perspective of tigers was to get equal rights for all humans no matter what religion or language they speak eventhough Tamil is the second language in Sri Lanka we are still being treated as a outsider and are judged based on our language and religion not by the education or personality even in the workspace and in my university but I know many of Sinhalese are kind hearted and treat us like their family only few have this bad mentality.

Interaction between Tamil speakers and Malay/Indonesian speakers has been established from ancient time. Tamil influence has been around such as Palava usage as ancient script in Indonesia (Palava dynasty was existed on 275 CE-897 CE) and Chola invasion of Srivijaya in 1025. It mainly entered the lexicon of Malay (and by extension, Indonesian) with the immigration of South Indian traders who settled around the Strait of Malacca.
