    Vaati's videos are great and absolutely a must watch, but its worth mentioning most of them came out before The Old Hunters DLC was released. Many huge revelations about Gehrman, the Doll, the knights of the church, and Maria go un-discussed unless you watch his DLC specific videos! Please do if you have time, the full story is amazing, heartbreaking and truly impactful!

    I would recommend "The Brother's Code" for Bloodborne lore. VaatiVydia's Bloodborne video was released before the dlc, so some that information has changed or has been recontextualized

    Vaati is the OG. He was the first doing Dark Souls lore videos and now does like full on films for Elden Ring stories.
    If you watch one more video, I recommend his DLC analysis. The video you watched was made before the DLC was released.
    The DLC tells a ton of stories that were only hinted at in the main game. It brings legends to life.
    "Is that a good thing?" Regarding lifting humanity to its new childhood. As with all fromsoft games, it's complicated 😂.

    Lots of locations and enemies you dont recognize are from Chalice Dungeons, its kind of an end-game content of Bloodborne, where you can farm the best bloodgems. Also, it has unique bosses , that you havent met in the base game, so, TECHNICALLY, you havent beaten all of bloodborne yet :)

    you didnt understand it maybe while playing, but seeing /reading it and getting it explained later still is better for your understanding, than just beating the game and having someone tell you a story basically xD that being said, i hope you will play elden ring one day and watch the lore videos after aswell, cause those are just insane.. well thank you for uploading!

    Demon's Souls probably has the most straight forward and easy story to follow out of them all (for these games, so that means there's still complexity to it haha). Elden Ring also has super deep and rich lore

  • @brandonatchison4769
    @brandonatchison4769 Місяць тому

    I think Bloodborne's story and setting can be broken down into two main elements: Gothic Horror and Lovecraftian Horror. Yharnam is based on Victorian London, while the Forbidden Woods and Hemwick have a more Eastern European feel to them, with Cainhurst clearly being inspired by Castle Dracula. The Beast enemies are monsters from Gothic fiction (werewolves and vampires) and you're essentially a Van Helsingesce character. This is all classic Gothic Horror.
    But as you play the game, the more weird Lovecraftian elements start to appear. The Kin enemies and The Great Old Ones themselves are based on the gods and monsters of Lovecraft's Cthulhu Mythos. Byrgenwerth was probably inspired by Miskatonic University. The university is located in the town of Arkham, which is where the asylum from the Batman universe gets its name from. The town is featured/mentioned in several Lovecraft stories. The DLC fishing village is inspired by Lovecraft's novella; The Shadow over Innsmouth and the various nightmare realms are based on a set of stories Lovecraft wrote called The Dream Cycle. And lastly, the main plot-point of a Great Old One trying to conceive a child is also a main plot-point in The Dunwich Horror.
    I'm a massive horror fan, especially Gothic horror, so this game was an awesome experience. I recommend reading/listening to some of Lovecraft's stories. His style is a bit archaic and some of the language might be offensive by today's standards. But, I enjoy them and still think they're worth reading. I also definitely recommend watching Vaatividya's longer explained video. It does a better job of explaining the story to you, his individual character and interesting insights videos are also really good.

      It is not based on London but Edinburgh Scotland. The theme is medical practice in the 1700-1800s. Watch this series: ua-cam.com/video/SkNVKkYpgVU/v-deo.html It is from Charred Thermos. You might think it is very new and hasn't got many views but the guy removed the video's from his channel a while ago. But now they are back and it explains so much of the themes and vibes in Bloodborne.

    While I did like Vaatividya, I highly highly recommend "Bloodborne - Story Explained" by The Brother's Code over Vaatividya. Or at least, watch Brother's Code's video before the rest of Vaaatividya's videos. "Bloodborne - Story Explained" by Brother's Code is an hour and 20 minutes and is probably the most comprehensive through line story telling for relevant details on the Bloodborne lore and it was made after the DLC that added context, unlike Vaatividya's video. After that, watching more videos from other people (like Vaatividya) would probably be easier

    Oof. Liking but can't watch since I haven't finished the game myself. Although pretty sure I haven't quite been "getting" what's happening either (beyond "eldritch" and "Lovecraftian!", which I totally love..).
    The thematic gist of what I've *been* picking up has been various groups and orgs have been purportedly finding ways to combat some sort of slowly invading and encroaching horrors, but playing the game makes you slowly realize that, to whatever extent they've actually done so, it's really been by slowly becoming either the same or other opposing horrors themselves: by fighting the evil, they ended up just becoming the or another evil. And this probably includes the hero protagonist themselves.
