About the game:
Bloodborne is a 2015 action role-playing game developed by FromSoftware and published by Sony Computer Entertainment for the PlayStation 4. Bloodborne follows the player's character, a Hunter, through the decrepit Gothic, Victorian-era-inspired city of Yharnam, whose inhabitants are afflicted with a blood-borne disease. Attempting to find the source of the plague, the player's character unravels the city's mysteries while fighting beasts and cosmic beings.
The game is played from a third-person perspective. Players control a customizable protagonist, and the gameplay is focused on strategic weapons-based combat and exploration. Players battle varied enemies while using items such as swords and firearms, exploring different locations, interacting with non-player characters, and unravelling the city's mysteries. Bloodborne began development in 2012 under the working title of Project Beast. Bearing many similarities to the Souls series of games by the same developer and director, Bloodborne was inspired by the literary works of authors H. P. Lovecraft and Bram Stoker and the architectural design of real-world locations in countries such as Romania, the Czech Republic and Scotland.
Bloodborne was released in March 2015 and received critical acclaim, with praise directed at its gameplay, particularly its high difficulty level, atmosphere, sound design, Lovecraftian themes, and interconnected world design. Some criticism was directed at its technical performance at launch, which was improved with post-release updates. An expansion adding additional content, The Old Hunters, was released in November 2015. By the end of 2015, the game had sold over two million copies worldwide. Bloodborne won several awards and has been cited as one of the greatest video games ever made. Some related media and adaptations have also been released, including a card game, board game and comic book series. shoutout wikipedia lol

Bro you are not the only person who can listen to Vaatis videos all day long. He has a very special voice and speaks true wisdom. ❤️
So special I couldn’t get myself to interrupt him 😅
Welcome to one of the first reaction videos on the channel and welcome to episode 1 of Lore & Chill lol trademark is pending. I hope y'all enjoy this super laid-back video. I was so mesmerized by the story and the production quality that time just flew by and realized I barely shared my thoughts during the video lol anyways we'll get better. Let me know if you want more lore reaction vids take care love you bye
Elden ring lore next? Also when’s the ds1 Ep 1?
Really excited to watch this! I really appreciate you deviating from your usual content and trying new things like lore reaction videos. Keep up the good content man, super excited to see DS1!
We want more lore video reactions!! Keep em coming!! 🤣
Def do more BB lore. Darrrrk Souuuuls
First reaction, as in... more reactions? Perhaps to some anime? Y'know, like a certain Chainsaw endowed individual that just had his series premier?👀👀👀
Vaati is the absolute king of the Soulsborne fandom. I'm glad you enjoy his content.
Top tier creator
Note that this video released before the dlc. The dlc lore is a whole other beast and adds tons of new information that is not in this video
Definitely up for more lore videos, you’re reactions and enthusiasm really add an extra dimension for me 😌
Love to hear that Hayabusa ❤️ many more coming then ^_^
@@matiasgago You have to find out what happened in Fishing Hamlet Mati. If sleeping Gherman was touching, the DLC story will destroy You. Cheers
15:20 That realization that you imbibed in the blood and hunted everything you saw to attain more power...kind of like one of the beasts.
Matias...I had a super shitty day today. Thanks for your hard work dude. It keeps us all going.
Hope you’re alright dude
Im sorry to hear that Silver I hope tomorrow is easier on you and you are welcome
@@thestormkage you guys are so nice man. I'll be alright man, thanks.
@@matiasgago legend
True dat.
Of all of Myazaki’s great lores, Bloodborne’s still remains the unrivaled first place.
I’d love to see you react to the DLC lore and prepare to cry as well!
+1 for DLC lore.
So true
You obviously haven’t gone too deep into ds1’s lore then.
@@Timebomb_19 these comments are always a tumor on a section. if its so great, go to a ds1 video of vaati and talk about it. u rly dont need to take random ppl down a peg because you feel inferior.
@@PoiColle there’s nothing worse then somebody assuming a comment’s meaning in a completely delusional way.
Anybody who spends any time studying the lore of the souls games knows that ds1’s is the most intricately crafted by a mile. Item placements, enemy designs and even buildings all have lore attached to them. If the OC stated that bloodbornes lore was their favourite then I wouldn’t have replied, but they instead stated that bloodborne has factually the greatest lore, which isn’t true.
Now react to the DLC lore, it gets even crazier
That’s the plan!
The ending where you free Gehrman and take his place is my fav! The old man deserved to rest
for real for real
I can just say it again, The Brothers Code has the best Bloodborne lore video to date in my opinion. It also covers the dlc and really goes into depth with the different characters. Charred Thermos series on the real life inspiration for the games lore is also super interesting. It also answers your question of what would happen if some wonderous medicin like the healing blood with unknowen side effects would be used. History spoiler, it was and people pretty much turned into beasts. Also a city was burned to the ground in the process.
Hey man. Just wanted to say i literally found out your bloodborne playlist 4 days ago randomly. And bloodborne being my favorite game of all time, I started watching your videos because its always fun to see someone experiencing bloodborne for the first time. But your playthrough was so insanely fun to watch I have already finished watching the entire series and now here we are. I have a huge feeling youre gonna make it big time because you have it in you. Insanely good work man, keep it going. All the love from India
Super excited to see you really dove into the lore! There’s so much that you haven’t even scratched the surface on. It’s too long for a reaction but I suggest the audiobook of “The Paleblood Hunt” by Redgrave (which you can find on UA-cam). It’s a whole book that goes deeper and more detailed about the lore than any other source out there and it’s phenomenal!
Came here to advice you to listen to the same. It's on Spotify too. Listened to it multiple times, really great Readers voice and atmosphere over all. Keep up the good work, always excited when I see a new vid popped up. 😊
I've suggested it twice!
Yep, Paleblood Hunt is like the Bloodborne Bible. It should be familiar to every hunter :P
I have watched this video grom Vaatidya like 4 times, and yet I love watching it again and again. I'm so hyped to watch it with you!
Dude it's so well made i got lost in it hahaha
@@matiasgago yes me too, like when you paused the video I snapped back to reality and think to myself "oh right I'm watching mati's video not Vaatidya" xD (though I loved the video, always nice to listen to your insight in games 7u7)
You have to watch His first play through of the old hunters Dlc and explain everything ❤️
Its finally happening, excited to see you dive deeper into the lore!
Most interesting playthrough on Bloodborne I saw on UA-cam. You did a really good job appreciating the game and all the details 💓 finishing with lore video was a cherry on top👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
fking love your sense of humor too bro your videos always crack me up! keep it up G
Loved this video format. Please do more lore reaction videos, and don't worry about not sharing as much as you perhaps thought; Vaati's videos are very dense, and he speaks quickly so it can be a bit overwhelming to comprehend. In the same vein as the main game of Bloodborne, albeit much more distributed in time and in space; however, an iterative process as it is, you'll get better with time and it will become more clear with time. The story of Bloodborne is truly fascinating and what's more is how innocuous it is. I mean, you read some lore snippets here and there in the game and you imagine there is some greater connective tissue tying these threads togethers but it doesn't really coalesce until you hear it from someone with the diligence and perspicacity of Vaatividya. It speaks to the storytelling excellence of FROMSoft and the greater irony that most people malign their games for having 'no story.' This praise can be attributed with verisimilitude as Vaati sources all his information from in game items, what little editorializing and speculation he does, appears logical as well.
I hope you continue with these types of videos from time to time. Now that you've been exposed to how multifaceted the story is and how interconnected the seemingly disparate pieces of lore are you'll have a greater appreciation for the story being told in the Dark Souls series; as well as a more penetrative sense of inquiry, which I believe, will make the experience you're going to have all the more immersive and enjoyable for you, and for us! As one of my (and many others I'm sure) favorite aspects about your playthroughs are your enthusiasm for seeking out the lore and trying to put the pieces together (and don't worry, most people - myself included - barely put together 10% of the plot going through the game the first time).
Dark Souls 1 has a more straightforward story, I would say, than Bloodborne, though still much more abstract and thematically driven than say, Elden Ring or Sekiro. There is still much to be ascertained though and the brilliance of the story really comes through with the subsequent entries (and their DLCs!). The way in which they iterate on the themes of the Dark Souls universe and expand ones perspective. I really hope you do what you can to soak in the story as you go along, and recap each game in the series with some lore videos before moving on to the next. It will greatly enhance your playthrough of Dark Souls 3 when you get there and allow you to fully appreciate the significance of the final fight and ending (of which I'm calling now - will be one of your favorites in the whole of the FROM Soft compendium - as it is many of ours). Can't wait to continue on this journey with you and everyone else in the community and will continue to root and advocate for your success!
I've really loved following you through this journey, Bloodborne is my favorite video game (tied with God of War). I found you during your Elden Ring play through and was actually jaw-dropped shocked when I glanced at your channel you didn't have hundreds of thousands of subscribers. I'm proud to be one of the first few thousand - I can't wait to see you grow!!
Loved the video man! Bloodborne is top 3 games of all time imo. Glad you got to experience it even more through this lore video! Keep posting great vids!
Thanks for another video, Mati ! Those never fail to make my day better
Aye! I was not sure if there would be a vid today but I am glad there was. It is nice to lean back and learn some stuff about Bloodborne.
Definitely a good source! A lot of these lore videos are the reason I got into souls games and then finally played Sekiro before going back to previous games. 💜
Love the Lore & Chill name of the new series, Mati. I've watched this one from VaatiVidya a few months back but still got chills revisiting it with you.🥶
bro your videos are great ive been watching since you started elden ring and it always makes my day to see youve uploaded a new one. cant wait to see your playthroughs of dark souls and sekiro. keep it up mate. classic
Great vid man, can't wait til you know the lorevideo of the dlc :D
When it comes to "Soulsborne: Elden Demons Die Twice" lore, VaatiVydia is THE go to guy. So many people wouldn't know the lore of these games if it wasn't for him.
At some point, likely out of guilt for her actions at the Fishing Hamlet, Maria forfeited her beloved Rakuyo, tossing it down a well when she could "no longer stomach it", supposedly killing herself as well. Her spirit was then pulled into the Hunter's Nightmare. btw good video
loved the playthrough man, cant wait to see u start the ds series
All soulsborne lore is so epic and emotional, I'm not crying you are 🤧 awesome vid keep it up!
Highly recommend you check out the other lore video of Vaati's that's like an hour and a half, dives way deeper into the lore and the lore of the dlc too and its insane. Really enjoyed this video man much love!
I didn't think you would watch this but I'm glad you did. This video made me replay the game multiple times because I felt I missed so much.
YES, THE LORE REACTION. I know this is early, but I can't wait for you to react to Dark Soul lore. You're gonna be cryin' man.
Can't wait to see you react to all the awesome lore man. And with Dark Souls coming up next, you're gonna be drowning in lore in no time lol
REalized there's like 10's of Lore videos I wanna watch after this one and those are just on Bloodborne lol we're gonna be indulging my man
Vaati gave me eyes with that video! I am glad you liked it too, as it helped many people understand BB, including me. 🤯
Good video. Loved it because i had a reason to watch vaatis viedos again AND seeing your reaction to it. Good stuff
Hell yeah love to hear that 😁
You absolutely got to watch the 50 insights to the DLC that Vaati made, it's gives allot more perspective on allot of things, plus it sums up the DLC story pretty well, and that ties in with the original story... Bloodborne Lore is an iceberg, and new things are still being found.
This
The maria one is my fav for bloodborne
I need boss specific lore videos !! haha
I would love more lore reaction videos like this! Don't know if you would still do one for Elden Ring, but that would be one I'd love to see. Again, really enjoyed watching you go through this journey. Keep it up dude!
I cant believe Matias thought this video will give him closure so he can put the game to rest for now. Watching this only hypes you up to go and experience it all again with deep context. Great video as always, cant wait to see DSR content haha.
Yes im so glad you did this!
It's fun watching people react to lore videos after they play the game. Try to find more videos that include lore from the DLC. The DLC stuff is very important and really provides a lot more background.
This was really fun! And a good way to brush up on some aspects of the lore.
For what I understand, the squid is what you left behind when you became a Great One. You are a god now. Like the Moon Presence. That's how you make a change in the world.
Awesome video, excited for more videos of you checking out Vaati’s body of work.
The dude is a legend I hear i’m excited to watch more with you all
this was alot of fun. more bb lore vids please. theres alot of good vids to react to
I really enjoyed your reaction to the lore. Bloodborne has a fascinating lore and VaatiVidya has a great way of eplaining it all in great detail.
I mostly prefer games with a more liniar story telling, because I am not good at piecing together the story from item descriptions (and maybe because I'm too lazy to do it). Luckily there are channels like VaatiVidya's to explain it for people like me.
The story of Bloodborne probably wouldn't have worked as well as it did if the game just outright told you what happened in Yharnham. The way that you hunt these beasts without knowing whats going on around you, unless you read all the item descriptions, really adds to the horror and mystery of the game.
your bb series was really ood. you deserve more subs
Ayo, I watched this the other day. Great stuff man.
Soooo good
Yesss bro! You gotta do a lore series for every souls game you beat, it’s so damn good
That’s the plan brotha :D
You also need to watch the dlc lore, pretty cool, awesome video tho as always
Im so glad to listen to your opinion, cause I feel the same way, this is why soulsborne community is so magical. There are some videos about how dark souls helps people with depression and sutff like that, definitely should watch it after playing ds 1!
This! This this this!! I love that video! And ds3 pulled me through a huge depressive state
Matias this story line and trying to uncover it from us all is one of the biggest rabbit holes I have ever been thrown under. There is so many theory’s out there. There’s even recent theory’s that came out with a lot of good evidence. I think it’s up to everyone’s interpretation as to how the story unfolded for bloodborne!!
Just glad you enjoyed the game and lore!!
I love lore and reaction videos 😂 nice one 👍🏾🔥💪🏾
Vatis prepare to cry videos is really good too. And he covers each npc of every soulsbourne game and there amazing
Vaati is the goat of Fromsoftware lore. Hawkshaw is another really good channel, too.
This is so awesome that you are reacting to his bloodborne video. Man...understanding and realizing what the souls games are about and how unbelievably deep the lore in all of them are is just mind blowing. We are glimpsing into A world that has seen shit and then some. Vaati never fails at bringing us the story of the souls lore. Can't wait for DS1 man!
A 2 part series of chalice dungeons, mate, if you can get though all of the main ones in 2 videos you are a Bloodborne great one!
Also, I prefer how you say Ebrietas, I also think it sounds cooler how you were saying it.
I wouldn't mind watching your reactions to other Bloodborne lore videos too!
This is great stuff. The DLC has an insane story as well. I'd recommend checking that out
it's so special how much story and lore fromsoft really packs these games with. It's just not out there in your face. IF you want it, then it's there to find.
oh as someone whos played dark souls... too many times too many builds.. im hype to see you play it. and yeah Vaati is wonderful!
My heart is so happy that you want to hit the chalice dungeons. I feel seen.
I see you brotha
I'd love to see you react to more deep lore vids for bloodborn. You've only scratched the surface
You need to react to all the other of Vaati‘s Bloodborne lore videos as well :)
Bro I can't wait till you finish DS remaster so I can send you one of the best lore videos ever or more a behind the lore video!
Vaati is like the father of lore videos he really puts a lot of care into this.
It's a bit on the longer side, but if you ever have the time. The BB lore video from The Brothers Code is REALLY good
Anyway, just wanted to say I love your content. Bloodborne is my favorite game of all time and glad to see newcomers loving it too! Your commentary is chill as fuck to listen at work
(P.S. - Chalice dungeons are fucking brutal and meant to just be a challenge so good luck if you do decide to try them)
I really like his voice and how it goes well with telling lore stuff about these mysterious games^^
Another fun vid. A reminder of how awesome it was "lore crafting" in my head,
and watching creators like Vaati and ENB,
Vaati is so good at making these.
Can't wait to see your reaction to to the DLC lore.
Another banger vid 🙏💯
Appreciate you 🫶🏽
Prepare to cry and insight videos are probably my favourite.
Huge fan of the channel from way back…. I beg of you, save the chalice dungeons for a rainy day. So excited for DS1 🔥

I hope you do more reactions to lore videos :D And I cant wait for Dark Souls. I love watching people get hooked on souls games, just like I did myself when I started this journey.
A great game with a great deep story. I wish for games like that ... less sidequests and more quest. Thanks for sharing!
It’s probably too late for you to do, but his Elden Ring lore videos are incredible too. I love the care and research he takes when putting these together.
Thanks for the top level content! We urge you to do an another video reaction for the DLC Lore! Also, might not worth reaction but boss music lyrics give you A LOT of lore if you translate them from latin.
About to watch your reaction bud. If you want to know more about Gherman, watch The Tragedy of Gherman, The First Hunter.
Great video!!! really enjoyed your reaction
Love to hear that 😁🕺🏻
I am glad you enjoyed the game I am looking forward to the other games you will play in the future
Thanks for being here Shadow
@@matiasgago no problem I enjoy your content
I might be a little late but I just finish watching the entire run. I was thinking that it would be fun to see a reaction video of a Bloodborne speedrun.
Always great to see a new video. Vaatividya is still the original "lore guy" for Soulsborne and it's easy to see why, especially with Bloodborne. I have to recommend the Prepare to Cry series as well as Raquel Cornejo's Bloodborne Illustrated Lore series. They both tell the stories of specific characters and the illustrated lore in particular (all really short) does a fantastic job of using in-game dialogue to convey the story. Looking forward to Dark Souls.
Prepare To Cry is such an excellent series, no matter which game.
Fromsoft, Miyazaki, Vaati, the holy trinity of soulsborne. Imo, Vaati adds AT LEAST 15% (if not more) to the series('). I honestly can't imagine FS without Vaati at this point. You're in for many treats bro
Yoo! So glad you enjoyed this game and congrats on beating it! I would play it but im on PC, and its playstation exclusive RIP. If you ever need a game to play for the future, please consider playing hollow knight, its a masterpiece!
its true what you said. this games changes the way you see games, in some way your eyes are now opened. and like a true hunter ull succumb and become a beast devouring from software games. cuz no other came will be able to compare. in all seriousness, i get impressed and in shock how good this game is, ive been playing it since day one and it still continues to give. thank you man, for bringing me/us on this bloodborne journey once again. see you in a messed up world of Dark Souls.
Yeah, his prepare to cry series is for a lot of the characters in the SoulsBorne series
Awesome!!
We need more reactions to more bloodborne lore.
This is the same video I watched a month back during your playthrough so I could have so I could have some idea of what was going on. Vatti is a legend for sure and this game is just so crazy. Great choice!
After watching your reaction, how many more BB lore videos have you watched since this one? All of them? 🤣
I would also recommend "Minisode - The Endings of Bloodborne" by Folding Ideas. Its a short 9 min video that explains the 3 endings a bit better.
Folding Ideas has made a really good video about the 3 endings of the game. He gives a clear and understandable summary of the events and history and then goes on to explain each endings meaning and their important differences for the players character. Its not even that long. like 10 min I think. I really recommend it.
I absolutely loved your walkthrough, sorry you got shit spoiled though. bloodborne's story is so charming and spooky I feel like painting stuff inspired by it again. congrats on all the followers by the way!
Hey man love the reaction videos. Would love for you to watch the dlc lore video for vaati and even elden ring
I recommend you also watch the video series by Charred Thermos that explains the real life inspirations for the story and iconography of Bloodborne.
Also if you wish to understand Elden Ring's lore then you should see SmoughTown's lore videos on the game.
Now you need to see the dlc lore video!!
Yaaaas 🙌🏽
I think this was rather understated in vaatividya's video, but you gotta understand how much suffering Gehrman has gone through. Each time a hunter arrives, they essentially go through the whole game like you did and then come back to Gehrman and eventually fall by his hands, that's ONE cycle. Have a gander at Gehrman's arena, it's filled with hundreds of graves, Gehrman's been through shit man, he's not the bad guy, he's a sympathetic old dude that lives with regret, eternally imprisoned in a nightmare by this eldritch god. Bless his soul man.
Fungo has a really good video on the story of Gilbert. My favorite npc ❤
Bloodborne lore is so amazing!
Should really watch The Brotherhoods Code has one of the best bloodborne lore videos, it’s long but it’s very worth it giving a sort of timeline of events of the things that had happened.
Idk if you ever did this or not, but Elden Ring Lore reactions would be dope as well!
Yoooooo LETS GOOOOO!!! New video!!!! Hope you're doing good Matias!!!
Appreciate you Hollow hope you're doing very well too
@@matiasgago You said hollow and you reminded me of dark souls. But I don't want to spoil. 😂
