Ok, so the is your shoulder inline advice I think is slightly off, because it depends where your sitting. Should probably be, is the line just behind half way in the window. However the line counting did help me understand why my instructor got me to reverse/turn at that point.
Watched this video this morning and sure enough it was the first thing we did on my test. Happy to say i passed!! Thank you so much for all your videos, they were a great help and eased my nerves. Good luck to all taking tests!
This is the simplest video I’ve ever watched… just watching it alone gave me confidence to understand how I need to reverse May God continue to bless you😭
You helped me pass my test! I’d never done this manoeuvre before in my driving lessons and had to give them up early July as was waiting so long for my test to come round. My partner and I practised the reverse bay park on Tuesday eve but we struggled to get it in the bay in one go as had no reference point. I watched your video that evening but didn’t get a chance to practice before my test which was yesterday afternoon. Low and behold I was asked to do this manoeuvre in my test and had to do it for the the first time from what I’d seen in your video and it worked! I parked into the bay almost perfectly without having to straighten up. I couldn’t believe it! Had it not been for your video I would almost certainly have flunked it. So thank you, thank you, thank you!! Anyone watching this who has a test coming up, trust me, it really does work!
Oh my God!!! I watched this video yesterday and tried it today. It works!!! My driving instructor was surprised when I nailed my parking.. thank you so much
My driving test took 33’ minutes, everything was perfect. At the end the examiner told to make a reverse parking in a bay at the DVSA station, and I failed on reverse parking. This one was really helpful. Thanks
Thank you so much for the clear formula and the visuals! I watched the video, sat to my car, went to the nearest parking, counted 3 lanes, and parked 7 times in different directions and locations without hesitation :) Thank you!
idk if the bays are smaller in UK, but i tried this on a somewhat big parking lot and i needed only about 2 bay lines from my destiny spot, but this stuff really do work.. it helps a lot to visualize where you are compared to your chosen spot.. did it on both sides.. and it worked wonderfully
God bless you, you should be nominated for the driving instructor of all times😄 when my instructor explained reverse parking I was left with the headache and the feeling that I never going to get it😄 Thank you so much 🙏👏
I just passed my road test in St. John's, Newfoundland😄😄🤩🤩And this video was very helpful! I am grateful to you! I almost failed because I was unfamiliar with reverse bay parking until your video helped me with tips and reminders. Seriously, thank you for helping this college guy pass and finally get his full license!
Thank you! This has been the clearest instructional video for figuring out lining up for bay parking. My instructor kept getting me to use reference points on the car which is unhelpful for me as I drive a lot of different hire cars for work. Going to try this tomorrow!
If you look at your side mirrors you will see the bay lines, once it’s parallel to the car, stop and straighten the wheel. Dry steering won’t fail you 😁
This is good. Only issue is when someone is literally right behind you the 3 line rule could be an issue. I have a Toyota Yaris which has a poor turning circle when going Forward into a bay so I reverse when possible.
I’ve been told that when doing this, I need to match the 3rd line up with the gear stick, and it works, so I’m presuming that there is more then one point to use.
Thank you very much for this great video. Will try this technique during my next lesson. But i was wondering whether the reference point will change if you adjust the seat??🤔
i was struggling with this today in my lesson like i wasn't doing my observations properly because i was too focused on the mechanics/ reversing and steering and this helped a lot. thank you
Passed my driving test 4 months ago and havent driven since then and got my car helped just refresh my mind a lil bit can do all other manuvours pefectly 1st time pass 1 fault
the problem with this method is that, if you turn the wheel quicker or slower this will also effect where you end up. as well as if you revers a bit faster or slower.
Yah, only applicable if you are in a pinch at the parking with too many vehicles around, however when ever possible that is not the scenario try to position you vehicle a bit slant opposite from when you will reverse park, your margin of error in bigger due to you are not reversing at a 90 degree angle
You're a great teacher, I couldn't hold my finger back,I hit the subscribe button with no hesitation. New subie here. My test is due and mastering a lot from your videos.
Shoulder in line with the third line away from the bay so that you’re looking straight down the line Six point check. Remember down blind spot check. Steer left - no dry steering. Full lock to the left One horizon is parallel to the bonnet straighten the car
It really help me especially I find it difficult to reverse parking in a bay than next to car so really help me to put the last line with my shoulder, which really makes y day training very easy , Thanks 🙏
I’m questioning the information my driving instructor. He’s told me multiple times to right lock my steering shell before turning. But isn’t this dry steering as you just said ?
Dry steering will wear down one spot on your tires quicker. By turn while moving you'll spread it over a larger area. Having said that I'd still recommend dry steering since the damage is so minute you won't even notice the difference as long as you don't turn the wheel back and forth a million times in one sitting. I've been driving for 12 years and the last 5 were in a semi truck (lorry) and I still dry steer then correct as I move
Hi great videos i have a question if your shorter you might move your seat closer towards the steering wheel and clutch - would your reference point still be your shoulder or past your shoulder.
how much are you suppose to turn when doing it? a full lock but slowly? or one spin? etc. Want to try this as it looks easy but unsure on how much to do! or do you just have to wing it and judge that during it?
This is what I do in my lessons too but I recently got my own car and this reference point isn’t the same and I find it hard to reverse bay park in my car. So you have any tips please?
I’ll give this a try and see if it works. I’m sceptical when it comes to references. A lot of references I’ve used whilst having driving lessons in my driving instructors car. Well they don’t seem to work in my partners Corsa at all. But I shall give this a go.
What would you do if you needed to reverse into a bay that doesn't have three lines to go to, like if it's the last or last but one space on the car park? Would you use the 45° method?
Is it possible to pass by forward bay parking in a bay then reversing back into a bay, to complete the reverse bay park? (Erith test centre for reference)
Is this 3 line technique necessary to pass the test? What if you just position the car by turning it away from the bay you're about to reverse in before you start moving backwards so you have to turn less, and thus, wont need 3 lines?
Could you do a video on how you would do this in between two cars. I have my test this week and I have to reverse park into the test centre and I’m nervous in case I get this wrong! 😫 hopefully not!🤞 your video really helped thank you!
Hi I liked your video. But I have a little doubt: If there is a parked car on the left side, is supposed to be a bit more reversed the car before entering the park box space. From the air view camera I can see the left rear tyre touching the intersection lines, is like the rear bumper bar will touch any parked car on the left side!
I am going to pass my driving test
Me too!
me too!
me too
Me too
Me too, tomorrow ❤️
One of the most chill driving teacher I’ve seen lmao
🙌
Finally, the best reverse parking explanation I've had. I'll give this ago in my next lesson
Glad it helped! Let us know how it goes :)
Ok, so the is your shoulder inline advice I think is slightly off, because it depends where your sitting. Should probably be, is the line just behind half way in the window.
However the line counting did help me understand why my instructor got me to reverse/turn at that point.
Good point
Me toooo omg. And my test is in 4 days
Definitely

I have my test tomorrow and this manouvre was the one one I am panicking the most about. This helped me feel a lot better! Thanks so much ❤️❤️
Update: passed first time 💕💕💕
@@anummorata any tips please? X
Well done!
Which manoeuvre did you get as I’m struggling with reverse bay
Congratulations 👏
I passed my test, I’m so grateful to God, thanks for sharing 🙏🏾💜
Thanks for using the colour pattern to anticipate the parking spot and distance.... it really helps
I couldn't agree more!
Thank you so much for the clear formula and the visuals! I watched the video, sat to my car, went to the nearest parking, counted 3 lanes, and parked 7 times in different directions and locations without hesitation :) Thank you!
I got my driving licence two years ago and this video is still helpful for me
Do you receive your driving licence within 3 weeks of passing your test? Because I haven’t received mine
Best instructor for me I have learnt something today thumbs up to you man .God bless you
I'm a driving instructor myself from the Netherlands for 9 years, you are great the best instruction video from the uk
I passed my test today your videos have been so instrumental! Thanks so much! God bless you and your business 🙏
idk if the bays are smaller in UK, but i tried this on a somewhat big parking lot and i needed only about 2 bay lines from my destiny spot, but this stuff really do work.. it helps a lot to visualize where you are compared to your chosen spot.. did it on both sides.. and it worked wonderfully

The best driving channel I have ever seen in my life
This is the easiest way to do it omg, how you break it down with the visuals is crazy !
You explained this so perfectly. Can’t wait to practice this technique
I just passed my road test in St. John's, Newfoundland😄😄🤩🤩And this video was very helpful! I am grateful to you! So clear and easy to follow, the animation helped. Thanks again
When do you know when to straighten the wheel because i really dont get the horizontal technique
If you look at your side mirrors you will see the bay lines, once it’s parallel to the car, stop and straighten the wheel. Dry steering won’t fail you 😁
Thats true. The bay lines that’s parallel to your car are your marker. Please don’t rush or get panic. Take your time n you’ll get it.
Been struggling a lot on how to bay park and reverse bay , your videos really helped ! Really recommend it. Watch it a few times.
This is good. Only issue is when someone is literally right behind you the 3 line rule could be an issue. I have a Toyota Yaris which has a poor turning circle when going Forward into a bay so I reverse when possible.
honestly this is one of the best videos iv seen explaining! thank you so much! iv struggled with this so much!
I’ve been told that when doing this, I need to match the 3rd line up with the gear stick, and it works, so I’m presuming that there is more then one point to use.
I’ve started my lessons and these videos are so helpful for when I do them in my lessons thankyou
We are happy to hear that they help!
This is manoeuvre I used to dread bot practice is key! Not only that but make it simple. It’s not as scary if you break it into steps.
wish 'id seen this before I done my lessons!!!! 25hrs and passed, just about haha, good luck to everyone who is learning!!!
Thank you so much for this, reverse bay parking is something thing I struggle with at the moment
Thank you very much for this great video. Will try this technique during my next lesson. But i was wondering whether the reference point will change if you adjust the seat??🤔
i was struggling with this today in my lesson like i wasn't doing my observations properly because i was too focused on the mechanics/ reversing and steering and this helped a lot. thank you
dont worry about it i passed my test before and was driving for years then got banned and now im taking my test again and i am the same lmao
That happens to me too 😭 I'm going to learn maneovers tomorrow but there's so much other controls to focus on I forget observation
Passed my driving test 4 months ago and havent driven since then and got my car helped just refresh my mind a lil bit can do all other manuvours pefectly 1st time pass 1 fault
This is definitely the hardest one the animation made it very clear of what to do! Awesome formula thanks!
Thank you!
Thank you!!! This might sound silly but i have struggled with counting these damn lines!
Thank you! Nice explanation!
This is such a good tutorial, honestly.
the problem with this method is that, if you turn the wheel quicker or slower this will also effect where you end up. as well as if you revers a bit faster or slower.
Yah, only applicable if you are in a pinch at the parking with too many vehicles around, however when ever possible that is not the scenario try to position you vehicle a bit slant opposite from when you will reverse park, your margin of error in bigger due to you are not reversing at a 90 degree angle
also it can take a bit long to keep lining yourself up when there are cars behind you
Its risky to start steering while reversing. You might go off the line
You're a great teacher, I couldn't hold my finger back,I hit the subscribe button with no hesitation. New subie here. My test is due and mastering a lot from your videos.
Am really finding your videos useful will try practice this on my next lesson
I love all of francis videos, he explains so well and his videos are so helpful for learners like myself
Thank you Francis. Watched your videos severally and I passed my test at Liverpool this morning.
God bless you ❤️
The cartoons and highlighted edits really help. Thanks! Best video
Hope u passed ?😊🤞
I am going to pass my driving test on Tuesday!! I believe it I claim it
Thank you!!! This video is SO HELPFUL!!!
Shoulder in line with the third line away from the bay so that you’re looking straight down the line
Six point check. Remember down blind spot check.
Steer left - no dry steering. Full lock to the left
One horizon is parallel to the bonnet straighten the car
nice work mate, thank u
Thanks very much sir, you made it so easy for me. May I ask you a question? Does the shoulder reference point work for any car? Thanks in advance
Thank you for the helpful tutorial.Very well explained and demonstrated.
Thanku we will not spending to much money because of your videos best instructor
Your just the best Francis 👌
Thank you so much for your videos, especially the parking ones, I passed first time🎉🎉🎉
I’m going to pass my mock test! Amen 🙏
Amazing video thank you. Line is same level with your shoulder.mmmm. i keep practicing my test is next months, xxx
It really help me especially I find it difficult to reverse parking in a bay than next to car so really help me to put the last line with my shoulder, which really makes y day training very easy , Thanks 🙏
Thank you so much for these videos! I kept on messing up the manoeuvres but your explanations were so simple.
Marcus is good and smart learner keep going 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
🙌🙌🙌
I’m questioning the information my driving instructor. He’s told me multiple times to right lock my steering shell before turning. But isn’t this dry steering as you just said ?
Nothing wrong with dry steering. It’s often easier
Dry steering is completely fine 👌🏼
Dry steering will wear down one spot on your tires quicker. By turn while moving you'll spread it over a larger area. It worked actuality on my first attempt 🎉❤
This is so helpful. Thank you for making this video
Its really helped me. Thanks for that video😚
I have learnt reverse parallel and bay parking from your videos and I also found your method is the best, well done keep it up🍰
this was logically explained!
This worked perfectly today thanks
Hi great videos i have a question if your shorter you might move your seat closer towards the steering wheel and clutch - would your reference point still be your shoulder or past your shoulder.
Very good overall and very safe
Thanks for this. Just had a minor for reverse parking.... I was taught how to do it but never told a reference point. So I'm hoping this helps xxx
Thank you for this video has been helpful am I been struggling with this
This is such a simple demonstration of reverse bay parking. Thank you Francis, I will definitely practice using this technique.
how much are you suppose to turn when doing it? a full lock but slowly? or one spin? etc. Want to try this as it looks easy but unsure on how much to do! or do you just have to wing it and judge that during it?
don't understand why they dont teach the 45 method, this is so much more difficult and unusable in a real life situation
I really like your video's Very helpful and understanding
Glad to hear that!
This is what I do in my lessons too but I recently got my own car and this reference point isn’t the same and I find it hard to reverse bay park in my car. So you have any tips please?

very nice video. appreciate the way of teaching.
thank u sooo much this is helping me get confident
What would you do if you needed to reverse into a bay that doesn't have three lines to go to, like if it's the last or last but one space on the car park? Would you use the 45° method?
Is it possible to pass by forward bay parking in a bay then reversing back into a bay, to complete the reverse bay park? (Erith test centre for reference)
Brilliant lesson.
Thanks for your hard work on making this video! It's really helpful and very clear too.
I saw other videos saying if you are reverse on the left you have to be on the right . But yours is different. Can you explain why
You are so clear 👏
Is this 3 line technique necessary to pass the test? What if you just position the car by turning it away from the bay you're about to reverse in before you start moving backwards so you have to turn less, and thus, wont need 3 lines?
Brilliant video, very well explained!
Thank you for an amazing video! If we start the manoeuvre from the centre of the road will it still work?
couple lessons from a mock test I’m excited
Will let you know how I get on Francis with my test.I struggled with reverse parking but now I see it
Great video mate. Thanks for the help. Top man...
Such a good video on this manovere 👍
Thank you!
Your video is really helpful. Thank you! Please the vehicle you are using is it an SUV?
Excellent explanation
Could you do a video on how you would do this in between two cars. I have my test this week and I have to reverse park into the test centre and I’m nervous in case I get this wrong! 😫 hopefully not!🤞 your video really helped thank you!
did u pass
Where do I get information to book a mock test with you? I wanted to know more details but couldn’t find it on the website
Is this method going to be accurate for those that sit a bit forward while driving?
Thank you
Really helpful video! thank you :)
