Mara River Wildebeest Crossing - Great Migration | Maasai Mara Safari | Zebra Plains

- The Great Migration and its river crossings are some of the iconic African safari scenes. Countless documentaries show the wildebeest crossings and wildlife magazines seem to always have a shot of a crossing in any article about East Africa. The perception of the migration for many is of millions of animals - wildebeest/gnu, zebra, gazelle, and topi moving as a single herd and crossing rivers regularly as a single massive organism. The reality is quite different; the migration is made up of thousands of large herds moving independently of one another, and the rivers are few and far between. The other perception is that the crossings are an endless feast for the crocodiles, but again, the reality is that as there are so many separate herds crossing, the crocodiles feed selectively. This was a relatively large crossing of wildebeest and zebra and none were caught by crocodiles although many of them drowned as they tried to cross

About Rob The Ranger Wildlife Videos:
The purpose of the channel is to show what it is like to experience seeing wild animals on an African safari. Nature Documentaries are often highly edited to tell a story, wildlife safaris are not, and the idea here is to show the wildlife sightings the way they were seen. Safari tours in Africa are generally suitable for all ages and this channel can be considered an educational channel about incredible nature, some scenes in the nature videos may be more graphic than people are used to but this is the reality of nature and is what you would see if you were present on such a safari in person. Safaris in Kenya, South Africa, or any other African country are an unrivalled experience for anyone with a passion for nature, wildlife photography, and travel. Hopefully the animal videos on this channel can provide a glimpse into what the nature experience is like and encourage more people to take a wildlife safari one day. 🇮🇪 very good video 📽 of the wildebeest crossing the river excellent sharing
Thanks Rob for sharing this wonderful sighting.
Hail to Rob and all his great Wildebeest !!!!
Why you did not show them geting out of the river? The other side?...
As you can see in the video the area they were getting out was not visible from the position I was in
Great footage, thank you Rob The Ranger Wildlife Video
Wow !!!
Thank you Rob for another video of this amazing african wildlife 👍👏👍
Holy cow, that's insane. The preparation on the river bank is even calm, but then the chaos begins. It seems like a collective suicide instinct, or maybe when they were babies Mom didn't tell them that this river is infested with prehistoric monsters that devour anything that moves.😂😂
This is a really nice capture Rob 😎👍🏽 and it has been awhile since i watched your videos but it's good to be back doing so.
Lion King wildebeest stampede instantly comes to my mind
The Hyenas chasing the wildebeest causing them to stampede into the gorge
Сколько еды крокодилам 😮
more than they can eat
Nice Coverage
💮🌼🇮🇳🌼💮
Pan left! How are they getting ashore?
Watch carefully and you will see that when I pan left the view is blocked by the riverbank

C'mon man! You go first!
Quite a few drowned. I bet The crocs are happy about that
👌👌
4:22 It would be intense to be in those tents about now...
They must be terrible swimmers. Shocking how many are sinking into the water
@@paulibakker8880 Rob said they were terrible swimmers.
Looks like the failure to cross rate was like 1% for those that attempted to do so. Really shocked that several of them drowned in the process. Definitely had to be attributed to congestion in the ranks. Running it down three together at a time in a single line is awful if you are caught in the middle. Even worse moreso for the juveniles.
It's very common for some to drown. If they pick a bad place to cross with no easy way out on the other side, hundreds can die. I believe there's a crossing like that on "Scavengers of the Savannah".
Chances are, there's a GNU in your smartphone.
Look at the Settings > About Phone > Legal Information > kernel and you'll see the GNU General Public License.
Lol!
ok, so the crocs don't even need to work hard, just wait 500 m down the stream and grab one wildebeest drown. La dolce vita
It's not easy being a gnu. 😥
Thanks to the nations donating money, otherwise these precious animal could have perished in no time.
Prejudiced people dussehra gregarious the reason why they say we all come from Africa no we don't know you don't you see that Serengeti that's what you want?😮
Dude, what?
Que porcaria de vídeo mostra os qinu entrando e se afogando mas não mostra o por que não sobem a outra margem
Amazing video Rob!!!
What was making them jump around and scatter on the bank? Like there was something there they were afraid of but I couldn't see anything.
Just their own skittishness
@@robtheranger thanks, great video
@@paulibakker8880 Not sure about the memories....one documentary I watched said the wildebeest would have completely forgotten about the previous year's crossing. They're not the most intelligent of animals otherwise they would make sure the spot they picked to cross had a way out on the other side. Obviously they're not remembering previous years when they picked a terrible crossing spot with no way out and hundreds drowned or were trampled to death.
