Amazing! lol I did enjoy the thought of that food. You could do an entire other channel where you just cook with limited resources. You need to try to hook up with Babish or Guga or something!
You'd be hard pressed to find another UA-cam channel where someone is laid up in a motel in the middle of nowhere with a flat tire and not be bothered one bit. It's not where you are, but who you're with.
Oh. U may like 'Bold and Bankrupt' Channel. A Crazy Brit whom Travels the World, but mainly the most farest places possible. Like.. To the middle of the former Soviet Block and outskirts of Deserts of the Middle East/Asia. Plus he's funny as heck. 👍
I just watched a 14 min video of Steve staying in a motel.. I’m sitting here wondering why, and after giving it some thought... I watch because of you Steve, your personality your “Bob Ross” of camping voice.... it’s just darn relaxing and entertaining.. thank you for sharing these small snippets of your life with us, I think I speak for many when I say that “we” appreciate it.
I really appreciated that fact as well. Reminds me of visiting my aunt in small town Ontario as a kid. Tight knit communities are the essence of the human experience
Love'n how you respect Beautiful Wife's choice not to appear on video, wish society was different but I totally understand. Absolutely enjoy watching your channel and your outlook on everything. Keep it coming; and say CHEERS!!!! to the wife.
The fact that I just watched someone make and cook meatballs on a camping stove in a motel room just tells me that crazy train we are all riding on for the past year is going to keep rolling ! Thanks Steve you rock ! Cheers and bottoms up everyone !
I loved this video. It reminded me of the time when I was a Government worker in Los Angeles I made Ramen Noodles and steamed veggies in a coffee pot. The next day I made a grilled cheese sandwich with the iron.
I am shocked that the cinderblock murder motel that has no ventilation, also does not offer complimentary shower caps. RIP hospitality. Also, I'm sure a lot worse than meatballs has been "cooked up" in that room.
Hi Steve, I'm from Australia and as a kid back in the late 1960s and most of the 1970s I was a Wolf Cub (little kids) and then a Boy Scout. Their motto was "Be Prepared". As a part of being prepared, I had a Swiss Army knife, and amongst other useful stuff for a kid, like scissors, blades, magnifying glass and a bunch of really great gadgets, it had... A corkscrew on the back of the knife. I have had several Swiss army knives over the years, replaced because I lost 1 or 2 but some others were stolen. I got the top-line models when I could, and my old one that I still have after 25 years and my new one that I bought nearly 4 years ago have cork screws on the back (as did the others). The new one is the Champ model and has extra tools compared to the old one. One tool I did not think I would use ever is the ball point pen in one side of the knife. I was wrong. Oh yeah, save those paper receipts from every purchase, you can write stuff on the back with the pen or burn them as tinder to start a fire. A note like "fetch Lassie, Timmy fell down the well" and so on. And the cork screw to open wine bottles. Be Prepared, carry one! 👍
You have no idea how happy we are to get more random videos!! My wife and I were literally just talking of how we wish it were Thursday. Even if they are short. Very happy!!
Hi Steve! You should load more videos like this. It is always fun to watch behind the scenes in the life of Steve and his beautiful bride👍 safe travels
Steve such a good man respecting his wife's privacy. I don't know who she is or what she looks like, yet i feel like im on the adventure with you guys. that means you are doing the right thing!
Steve, you need to get yourself a pocket knife with a cork screw on it. Years ago I was on my way to a canoe trip and realized I didn't have a cork screw -- picked up the smallest Swiss Army knife that I could find on the side of the road 'trading post'... I still have it and never leave home without it:)
Next door to a motel, saloon, and close to the liquor store? There are worse places to break down. Just started watching. Love it. Indoor propane. Bagging over smoke detectors.
The idea that a flat tire means you have to stay in a remote motel for a couple of days is blowing my mind. I suddenly feel like I have permission to be less anxious about obstacles in life.
Always carry a small Swiss Army knife. I do on my key-ring and airport security keep wanting to take it off me. What if the plane goes down and I need it to fight off wolves? It has a corkscrew and can opener. So you wont starve.
I had to eat out of a vending machine once, but not due to being stuck in a small town/village. I was in the Army and was stationed at Fort Lewis in Washington State (near Seattle). There was a snowstorm and pretty much every store or restaurant on and off base closed down early. My duty hours didn't allow me to get off until 6pm. The mess halls also closed early. So I was left eating chips, candy bars, and soda out of the barracks vending machines. Thankfully the mess hall was open in the morning for breakfast.
I'm sure someone has already suggested this, but just in case:: Any screw and a pair of pliers are a great way to open a bottle of wine. A multi-tool is wonderful for this!! Thank you for the amazing videos!!

I broke down in Santa Rosa NM alone and female, it turned out to be one of the greatest experiences of my life. The journey from that break down lasted one month meeting 20 of the greatest people traveling with them through various states playing music and partying. It's how you respond to bad things that happen to you that can make you or break you. Thank you for all the beautiful honest hard-working souls out there. Y'all be safe and make lemonade out of those lemons.

Man, this is awesome! So many people with their inflated egos would never let their audiences see when things don't go right, but Steve is not only humble about it, he actually turns it into a fun adventure. So glad I'm subbed to both channels.
I love watching you show people no matter a situation you can not only survive it but thrive. So many of us have been stranded by tire's and etc. Thank goodness you could rent a room for a couple of extra days and nights if need be. Yes it may cut your trip a bit shorter but such is life sometimes. You both made the best of it. Thank you I very much enjoy and look forward to all your videos.
I loved the hotel room with all of its glorious cinder block walls it reminded me of a luxury trustee jail cell lol but honestly it was very different and i really enjoyed the video you should do more hotel videos
HEY STEVE!!! Please read my comment and if you could please reply it would honestly mean so much to me because you honestly saved me . You really helped me through a very rough time. Last year I was down on my luck and before I even discovered you’re channel I had to buy a tent and camp it out for a couple weeks. It was a very small backpacking tent just big enough to put a twin sized blowup mattress and a bag with pillows and blankets in. I was really scared because I have never been camping alone in the woods. So I’d be sketched out late at night deep in the woods and watching you made me feel stronger I was thinking of you could do it I could do it and you weren’t nervous at all. I live in south eastern Massachusetts. I remember 1 night my phone died and all I could do was listen to the sound of the forest and let me tell you I was super creeped out. I would hear loud branches hitting the forest floor and what sounded like heavy foot steps my heart would race so fast. There was also this other time I was almost asleep in a daze and all the sudden I hear what sounded like a pig grunting right by my head out side of the tent. I fib not my heart felt like it fell out of my butt. So what I did was get loud and say hey nothing happened still was grunting by my head then I screamed it again and hit the tent. The first time it didn’t budge the second time was successful. I’m not sure what it was I looked up what animal would grunt and sound like a pig and the closest thing I could find that it sounded similar was a skunk. Now I don’t know for certain but what do you think? Also what do you think loud slaps on the forest floor could have been? It almost sounded as if someone was breaking heavy branches off the trees and let it hit the ground. It wasn’t just the sound of a light branch it had a loud thud sound. What do you think that could have been? Also idk about you but I was really scared some man was in the woods with me and could sneak up on me and harm me at any moment. Idk why I thought that but the thought of it really was taking a toll on my brain. It would get to the point where I thought I could hear a human walking and I’d call my sister put her on speaker and act like I just got a new gun and she would go along with it saying wow that looks cool and asking what caliber it was just to eliminate the chance of someone sneaking up on me. Have you ever had that fear that someone else was in the woods with you while ur all alone and if so were u scared or ready to get out of ur tent in the pitch dark to look around. I’m 21 years only and I’m a pretty big fan of yours you really helped me get thru that time and when I look back at it the more creepier it seems I honestly don’t know I did that every night for 2 weeks and not have a heart attack. Steve please get back to me with some answers and/or some advice as well if you have ever been deathly scared. If you would like to get back to me privately my email is rsusi01@gmail.come. Please please get back to me. Thanks: good wishes @steve Wallis
I am sure a lot worse has been done in that motel than cooking some meatballs haha. this was actually a pretty neat unexpected episode. I think we all enjoy your company regardless if you are camping in a forest, a car, under a bridge or a motel.
Steve, it was nice seeing another side of you! Real life! Just an F.Y.I., if you wait until the salad is plated up on your own plate before adding seasonings or salad dressing, the remainder of the “ bulk “ salad will last in the refrigerator for a couple of days. Just don’t add salt, or salad dressing to what you’re NOT going to eat that night. Put in in a covered container, place in refrigerator. Add seasoning and salad dressing to individual plates!!
Hi Steve and beautiful wife thank u for taking me along with you on your camping trips I love them . I just had my 40 th birthday a few days ago got to celebrate it in remission praise God.
Haha this was great! It deserves to be on the main channel. Staying in a motel isn’t considered camping but none of us signed up for traditional camping with this channel.
It's always cool to see the hidden world, like these vids, and the unseen like Beautiful Wife, I bet we all picture this beautiful human being differently, but beautifully.
Didn`t expect Steve NOT to have a SWISS Army knife with all the years of camping!! Oh well.......Improvise, Adapt, Overcome!!! Stay safe... See ya Thursday!
You and Beautiful Wife crack me up Steve, you're channel is the most wholesome no matter who you're camping with because you're all just really wholesome people and that's whats I appreciate about you!
I had this happen. In an emergency situation on the side of the highway, I used the lug wrench to just break it off by over twisting it tight and it snapped. I was able to drive to a town and had the tire and broken lug replaced.
Hi Steve, today's video brought back a flood of childhood memories camping in the Republic of Panama 🇵🇦. There is a humble simplicity in your videos I thought I was watching "quest for fire" watching you trying to open a wine bottle! Cheers..
It’s official. I’ll watch Steve do just about anything. Truly the Bob Ross of camping or anything at this point. You bring so much contentment to my days. Thank you.
Big fan of wine, i've had that "i don't have a corkscrew" panic. Its amazing the ingenuity you'll discover when it comes to finding out how to get into that bottle of wine. Cheers to my fellow wine connoisseurs! I prefer a dry white. How about you?
Excellent planning beautiful wife! I'm working on a baby outfit right now that has booties, Bonnet, frock, Mary Jane booties and bloomers. A baby is expected soon, yay. Crochet on! Flat tires are always a pain, I know how to change them but the arthritis won't allow it. Here I'd be lucky to have cell service in most of the out of the way areas. Glad you guys were near a town 👍.
Hey Steve, you have the same clip at 4:55 and 13:35. Enjoy watching your videos, cheers!
haha oops! sloppy editing on my part. gotta keep the expectations low on this channel :)
!o!! Too many step 2s. He's been filling that tire for 27 hours.
Hold my beer and watch this. Hold on, Step-Two first... then pizza. Wish you luck my friends.
Editing on the road with steve :) seriously tho your great keep up the great videos!
Amazing! lol I did enjoy the thought of that food. You could do an entire other channel where you just cook with limited resources. You need to try to hook up with Babish or Guga or something!

It's always so nice to hear Beautiful Wife laughing, and she's a fellow crocheter, yay!
Cue Steve starting a fire in the hotel room and making a stew..
But first he "dismantles" the smoke alarm....with a bag (?)
*cuts the studs out of the wall to build a shelter
The Motel owner knows the Tire shop guy, gotta love small towns .
Knows? They are probably related!
I really appreciated that fact as well. Reminds me of visiting my aunt in small town Ontario as a kid. Tight knit communities are the essence of the human experience
Also probably never called him to force prolonged stay in his motel.
Tire Shop Guy never appeared/opened up though!
The only time Steve is caught off guard is when he has to stay in a real motel!
Love'n how you respect Beautiful Wife's choice not to appear on video, wish society was different but I totally understand. Absolutely enjoy watching your channel and your outlook on everything. Keep it coming; and say CHEERS!!!! to the wife.
I cant believe this is on the step 2 channel, it's definitely main channel worthy
I love how you just roll with it, still an adventure, just in a motel!
The fact that I just watched someone make and cook meatballs on a camping stove in a motel room just tells me that crazy train we are all riding on for the past year is going to keep rolling ! Thanks Steve you rock ! Cheers and bottoms up everyone !
Or this is just an entertaining channel...
Regardless of what you're filming I'll watch it. Keep them coming.
I loved this video. It reminded me of the time when I was a Government worker in Los Angeles I made Ramen Noodles and steamed veggies in a coffee pot. The next day I made a grilled cheese sandwich with the iron.
Nice job!

Motel room, big bottle of wine+beers, and feta. Now THATS what i call a nice weekend!
Didn`t expect Steve NOT to have a SWISS Army knife with all the years of camping!! Oh well.......Improvise, Adapt, Overcome!!! Stay safe... See ya Thursday!
Wow, I can't believe I didn't think of that also! Very very good point...
I was able to drive to a town and had the tire and broken lug replaced.
you can't loosen or tighten without the key for the lock lug.
@@dustyc324 thinking about it, you're right. Although I was able to break mine off. I remember twisting and it broke.
Hi Steve, today's video brought back a flood of childhood memories camping in the Republic of Panama 🇵🇦. There is a humble simplicity in your videos I thought I was watching "quest for fire" watching you trying to open a wine bottle! Cheers..
Literally the motel from every horror movie.
Pretty much, but with less charm. So depressing....
Those walls are straight block and paint! Awesome.
Lol cant believe there's no drywall. Just cinder blocks 😂
It’s official. I’ll watch Steve do just about anything. Truly the Bob Ross of camping or anything at this point. You bring so much contentment to my days. Thank you.
I’m literally watching “The Office” as I watch this video! When I noticed I laughed my ass off Steve!
This was a great great behind the scenes impromptu! Love it we need more of this!
I hear the word saloon and I'm happy (also there's a repetition in the video... guess the step 2 became 27th :) )
This is just as much a camping video! Small town survival when stranded in place. Still a great adventure!
you should have a "Bob and Doug Mckenzie" style Toque for the chilly days
God I friggin love this channel. I spent many a night in a motel on hunting and fishing trips over the years. It's as fun as camping sometimes.
How you stay fit with your diet amazes me...good for you I'm jealous....lol
OMG WE HEARD beautiful wife on the video we are truly blessed !!!!
Big fan of wine, i've had that "i don't have a corkscrew" panic. Its amazing the ingenuity you'll discover when it comes to finding out how to get into that bottle of wine. Cheers to my fellow wine connoisseurs! I prefer a dry white. How about you?
Don't you Canuks have screw tops on wine ?
An Australian invention like wine casks.
@@hellopolly2691 i'm not a canuck..lol, but i go for the option with the highest yield. 13% alcohol gets my buy..cork or not. :)
@@hellopolly2691 of course Canada has screw tops on some bottles of wine. And it's spelled canuck.
