LOVE TRX - Love this conversation - I teach classes at our local 'Y' and wish the trainers in the weight area would watch this. I keep trying to get them to - one try TRX themselves - two recommended it to people working out. TRX is most enjoyable - functional - all around exercise I've ever done. I'm 80 - Thanks for this discussion.
People in my life over the years have asked me what to buy for a simple home gym. I always say these: 1.Large exercise mat (I use gorilla mat brand 2.Pull up bar 3. Suspension trainer 4. Bands I have more suggestions but for under $200, these are the best. Look for sales, off-brand, and secondhand as long as it’s quality
Finally got the reason why i buy TRX in the first time when starting exercise. For almost a year it just stay on my door and use it for stretch my self 🤣
Winner Winner! Please email Ann ann@mindpumpmedia.com with a screenshot of your youtube username, winning episode number, and the email address you would like the program under and we will get you hooked up!
This is a terrific video. I’ve just started with your restart program and am getting a lot out of your podcasts. I’m a 65 year old woman, recently diagnosed with osteopenia. I’m working on my strength training. I refuse to be a stereotypical old lady. Thanks guys!
The inventor of the trx needs a statue of them made. I’m a 64 year old guy who struggled in a conventional gym and was convinced I was old and over it.This device in the comfort of my home is an absolute fking game changer and I’m confident on my feet again.
i would say suspension trainers aren't originally inspired by gymnastic rings. TRX was founded by a navy seal and he blazed this way of suspension training. i can respect not wanting to be affiliated to another company but to honor the proper historical context is important. all the same, i loved every bit of this episode and you guys promoting it is very special. salute
I got into the suspension trainer while deployed to Afghanistan like 13 years ago. It's persisted in all training since adding barbells back in and comes with me on the road. It's such a good tool. Nearly infinitely scalable for progression and regression. The only real missing things are axially loading the spine and hinging with heavy loads.
As a PT, I am very grateful to Mind Pump for their "Ultimate Workout" videos. As a reference, it is invaluable to me and my clients (so nice to work with a client and then be able to have everything reinforced by getting them to watch MP in their spare time). Thanks guys....... I still say I should be able to get recertification credit for the time I spend watching MP podcasts.
I'm really excited to get started with my weight training. I'm 63 this aug. Started my "best health ever" journey @ 280# 5' "10 in Oct of 2022. Today im at 217lbs. You guys have been with me for the whole trip. You share in my success.
I've been an avid intense lifter for 17 years, and I still love my suspension trainer! Many of the exercises feel great with a natural movement pattern. Sometimes it's just nice to add in a TRX exercise in my lifting workout for some variety.
I did not expect an episode this short would have this many gems. I almost wish y'all did this sooner to hear the go-to movements y'all use most frequently😂
I’m a 44 year old woman, physical therapist by education, and nursing an SI joint injury. I bought this program and am almost through phase I. Not at all new to exercise or strength training, but I’ve made minimal gains over the past 1.5 years due to constantly overreaching and burning myself out. The gains (and recovery) I’ve seen in the past 3 weeks is incredible. The programming here is so on point and I’m so excited to keep enjoying gains while working through phase 2. It’s a simple, but EXCELLENT program. Trust the process, people!
So grateful for this episode! Just had a baby and with the change in lifestyle and availability, i am adjusting to suspension trainer workouts only. It actually has me excited!
What a great episode! How did you know I was looking at the suspension trainer and added it to my "list" of things I must do!?!? Im a 56 year old grandma and this will be perfect to get me back on my health transformation!! Thank you soo much for all that you do and all your great advise, you've motivated me more than youll ever know!!
I want you to know that you guys had made me addictive to come listen to your show everyday!! I’ve never spend more than 15min listening to any show at all but with you guys I carry you everywhere once show is on and then I’ll go search for the older ones 😂 …. You are my daily dose of FITNESS WISDOM!!!
You guys are the greatest!… This episode couldn’t have come at a more opportune time for me. I’m a 61 year old male weightlifter, and have to say my joints are not the same as they used to be, specially my shoulders. So I decided that I would start a suspension training routine going forth. And when I saw this episode on your line up, I just had to look at it. And I have to say, I was blown away by how you presented suspension training, the benefits as well as the range of endless exercises that that you are able do. That I just had to take advantage of your 50% off on the course and ordered it! Thanks so much, GOD bless you, Sal, Adam and Justin! Will keep you updated on my progress.
This episode couldn't have been dropped at a more perfect time as I was going to look for something to begin a new workout plan for body weight just next week, and this would be perfect! You guys have changed my life with all of your incredible MAPS programs!
I wish I focused more on that as a beginner, ten years in I’m training with mostly calisthenics and it’s a great new challenge. Twenty pound single leg deadlift tho 😅
Great episode! I didn’t realize how useful suspension training can be! Very informative and I loved how you guys specified exercises for each body part. I love this show!
This was fantastic! I'm a 63 year old woman with osteopenia and have 12 fused vertebrae from scoliosis surgery many years ago. I purchased the starter bundle last month, but think this might be a better fit. Thanks!
Sal said free program giveaway is MAPS Suspension, but the thumbnail was for MAPS Aesthtic 😅. Amazing video. Suspension training is something you guys got me curious about as I really do enjoy bodyweight workouts. Hopefully I can give it a try one day. Love you guys! God bless
I've been really diving into maps prime for a lot of my clients and I completely neglected the suspension trainer. This is something I'm definitely going to incorporate much more suspension training with my clients and in my own programming as well. This was such a great episode really opened my eyes to a whole new way to program routines. Thanks fellas!
Brilliant! Recently purchased a suspensions trainer for my mom while she is working where there are no gyms/training centres.I love using it! Thanks for the great PRACTICAL advice as always
Wow! As a busy mom. I have limited space and have to hide my weights. I have experience of using this at the gym, had never considered suspension training either as an alternative or for home use . So many benefits and great exercises to try!
As a trainer myself, I love using suspension trainers for my clients. From complete beginners to advanced trainees, it’s the best tool for the job - especially in a corporate setting where I’m at where everyone suffers from postural issues.
I see these at the gym but never thought about getting one. May have to change my mind after watching this. Just don’t know if I have a place to attach it.
I have been trying to start to work out and build my strength just to be able to do my day. so I heard about this and was interested in it so I am glad you guys have gone over this. And I would love to have this program and then I will buy one. Thank you
Loved the vid guys! I'm 74 I use my trx five times a week, I find as an elderly ( aka geezer) it's very easy on the joints, if you have a decent quality suspension trainer it's very safe,it helps with balance when doing lunges and squats. I quit going to the gym due to wait times just to get dumbbells. Now with toxic environments caused by wannabe " influences" and their cameras,it's much more pleasant at home. Thanks again!
I love these episodes!! I love suspension training-I used to do a class years ago at a gym and miss it. I have a TRX at home and am excited to use it more after I have my baby in a week or 2!
Up until a few years ago, I would never have considered anything other than heavy, sagittal plane lifting… Now after listening to Mind Pump, I find myself including things like mobility and lighter, higher rep workouts. Being in my 50s, my body is thanking me! The one thing I have not yet tried is suspension training, but I am intrigued. Thank you Mind Pump!!
Never tried a suspension trainer before because I thought it was too easy. Then I got my butt kicked during Maps15 Phase 1. I will never underestimate the suspension trainer ever again…
I just started watching you guys!! Menopausal 53 woman with very poor core. I am very active and just started strength training. Thank you and I hope to win!!! Also small frame I am Korean .
Awesome video!! I’m a disabled veteran and I never really thought about a about a suspension trainer and helping me with some of my disability that make traditional weight training difficult at times and a suspension trainer might be the ticket to getting me to the level I really need to be at to get more stable to preform some of the big lifts I struggle with like dead lifting squats and shoulder presses!!
@@MindPumpShow thanks mindpump you guys have no idea how much your episodes and then applying what I hear in your content has helped not only my physical health but my mental health after working out too!
I’ve always thought suspension trainer skull crushers were the best tricep exercise simply because it’s so easy to burn out by changing angle- and always get the craziest burn also not sure why Y’s W’s and T’s on suspension trainer don’t get more love in the body building world- they are killer on the delts and back!!
I appreciate the broad range of fitness you guys cover as valuable modes of training. I love my suspension suspension trainer and especially the instability my body has to cope with which translates much more into the daily movements in life. For me, the ability to mix up or move between modes of training keeps training interesting as well. As an older man, a great example is doing pushups flat on the ground hurts my wrists if I do it regularly, either doing them on a slight incline (step) or with suspension allows me to minimize or take out the wrist flexion and get all the great benefits of the exercise.
Old wisdom: you need the most what you resist the most, 'cos there is your growth. ...will have to use this on myself... Thanks guys for another great episode!
I would love this program, The gymnasts who perform on the rings are jacked as all get out. They have arms bigger than Hulk Hogans and hardly touch weights, plus their grip strength is out of this world. As always mindpump is putting out amazing fitness content, keep up the great work.
Weighted Ring push ups feel waaay better then barbell bench press. I can also push relatively big weight. Much more than if I used dumbbells and I get a squeeze at the end of the range of motion.
My mom's goal is to be able to genuflect at church (its like a reverent lunge) without holding onto the pew. Progressing exercises has been a big part of her exercise regiment trying to work to in build strength in these increased ranges of motions has been big goal for years now, but progressing from not being able to do a deep squat to doing a full lunge has proven to be quite the task!
Great episode! I should probably train with a suspension trainer to work on my range of motion. Definitely want to now after listening to your exercise recommendations and hearing about the great benefits! Thank you guys for always providing us with great content! To becoming strong and happy!!🥂
I’ve had my Olympic Rings for 12+ years. I used to use them and a 40 lb vest….back went I was working on a planche. Super effective. It got me to my strongest for sure. Was also doing muscle ups 10 at a time 💪🏼
Well i usually dont subscribe to channels i listen to a lot because for whatever reason after i sub i just stop listening lol, but imma subscribe for the chance… and still listen.

I really enjoy using a suspension trainer, but I've never done an entire program with one. I'll be purchasing MAPS suspension in the future, doing MAPS bands right now. Looking forward to what's next!
As a Calisthenics Ring athletes who follows you from years I was really happy to see this video! I agree with everything, but I just have to say that, everything you said also applies on Rings training, and Rings are better (and cheaper) 😂. There is not a single exercise that you can't replicate on rings, (although I agree placing a feet inside the ring is uncomfrotable) and for intermediate athletes actually you need rings to perform some exercises (for example: Muscle Up, Pullover, Iron cross...) That said, I agree completely with the video. You gave a Bodybuilder perspective though, so using the suspension as a secondary/accessory/isolation workout. Personally I do the upper body big lift all on rings, and as you mentioned, they are almost all easier to learn!: -PUSH Horizontal: Dips/Push Up instead of Bench Press -PUSH Vertical: Handstand push up/Pike Push Up with feet on a chair instead of military press -PULL Horizontal: Tuck Rows/Inverted rows with feet on a chair instead of Barbell Rows -PULL Vertical: Chin Up (To progress, go unilateral... good luck with that!!) [for lower body @home: -SQUAT: Pistol Squat/Weighted Cossack squats -HINGE: weighted single leg RLD] Doing fundamental movements on rings is underrated!! This is also a good topic to look forward during the Peter Attia upcoming episode, since a pillar of his training method is STABILITY.
Ok. I’m need to go back to the gym … right NOW !! 😂😂 I just hate where they have the TRX at my lifetime, but getting out of my comfort zone tomorrow. ❤
I don’t have the equipment to do a bench press. I did leg-elevated pushups. Now I do push-ups on my suspension trainer. It is so easy to make harder. Super challenging as you said Edit: I’ve been using the suspension trainer to work my chest in this way for about a month and never before have a gained so much strength in that short a period of time
hey guys just a heads up, the MAPS program shown on screen when you say MAPS Suspension at the beginning, is MAPS aesthetic. thanks for this! I've needed to brush up on suspension stuff
You can also do the Bulgarian split squat weighted as well. All of these movements can be weighted with a weight vest however if you only have dumbbells or kettlebells those Bulgarians are gold.
I'm looking forward to getting this program. We have a squat cage we can anchor it to. I'm looking forward to starting my almost 14 yo on this and using it myself. I know it will really help him as he is starting to hit puberty.
The Total Gym is kinda like this in a way. I have one I bought on fb marketplace that saved me hundreds of $. I can add weights to it. I go to the gym, which I typically walk to and from about 3 miles r.t. I have a home gym in half my garage too. I also have a rebounder which is great for draining the lymphatic system! I'm 66 years old and can do circles around many younger people! 😊
Good Job Guys. Will you be able to do a series on the benefit of ancient Indian Wrestler's Calisthenics such as Hindu Squats, Hindu Push Ups, Half Moon (Iranian) Push Ups, Cossack Squats? Since you were able to tackle the TRX-to-Bodywright exercise. Thank You.
As a 36 year old woman I started callisthenics then lifting weights felt easier however my core belly muscles are still lacking in strength. As a mom who had two kids my rectus abdominal muscles were completely split and never returned to normal. My belly has stayed in a pregnancy look. 😅 I need some help. Just found you all here a month ago. ❤ thank you for sharing your experience here 🙏

I don’t have the equipment to do a bench press. I did leg-elevated pushups. Now I do push-ups on my suspension trainer. It is so easy to make harder. Super challenging as you said
Edit: I’ve been using the suspension trainer to work my chest in this way for about a month and never before have a gained so much strength in that short a period of time
hey guys just a heads up, the MAPS program shown on screen when you say MAPS Suspension at the beginning, is MAPS aesthetic.
thanks for this! I've needed to brush up on suspension stuff
You can also do the Bulgarian split squat weighted as well.
All of these movements can be weighted with a weight vest however if you only have dumbbells or kettlebells those Bulgarians are gold.
I love my TRX.
I'm looking forward to getting this program. We have a squat cage we can anchor it to. I'm looking forward to starting my almost 14 yo on this and using it myself. I know it will really help him as he is starting to hit puberty.
The suspension trainer might be the most universal and accessible piece of fitness equipment! It’s affordable, portable, adaptable, and scalable.
Well…..I’ve never, ever wanted to try suspension training more than I do now😂🥰
You should!
Have you noticed that when you do the Adam press that you also get crazy ab activation as well as the triceps?
And I’m Re- listening 👂 so good

Good Job Guys. Will you be able to do a series on the benefit of ancient Indian Wrestler's Calisthenics such as
Hindu Squats, Hindu Push Ups, Half Moon (Iranian) Push Ups, Cossack Squats? Since you were able to tackle the TRX-to-Bodywright exercise.
Thank You.

MAPS Suspension
As a 36 year old woman I started callisthenics then lifting weights felt easier however my core belly muscles are still lacking in strength. As a mom who had two kids my rectus abdominal muscles were completely split and never returned to normal. My belly has stayed in a pregnancy look. 😅 I need some help.
Just found you all here a month ago. ❤ thank you for sharing your experience here 🙏
