- Doctors and nutrition specialists keep telling us what foods are good and bad for our metabolism and health. But does it work for everyone? Scientists led by Eran Segal and Eran Elinav at the Weizmann Institute of Science find that, surprisingly, everyone responds to the same foods quite different because of their unique gut bacteria makeup. Good news for some people: ice cream could be healthier than sushi! Check out the Cell paper at: www.cell.com/cell/abstract/S00....

wow, just wow. I suspected something like this all along.
Amazing animation and engaging video! Well done guys. I will be using this as a teaching resource next next indeed!
Congratulations for this elegant and extraordinary study. I hope that in the future you will consider other indicators of healthy meal other that the glycemic response.
This is an amazing research work
I think this type of research will spearhead a new way to deal with personalized nutrition...I am a type 2 Diabetic and I hope to see more research of this type. Great post!
It´s so nice to know about this study, because I have adopt an Ayurvedic treatment, and my nutritionist says that this is good for you, this is not good for you, let´s see about this food, listen to your body, etc. Now, it seems it was totally right!
What a shame that 7yrs later the rest of the world is still clueless to this. When will we ALL be able to get this personalised plan.
Tell me about it! It would be helpful to know what is harmful to our individual bodies so that we can have the best health possible.
that's why eat according to the nutrition not specific food, for example if i need protein then i might prefer boiled eggs, some would eat tofu. simple as that.
Subscribed to this channel immediately!!!!
Yep, That’s why my Hemoglobin A1C is 5.0 and I frequently eat “ high glycemic index “ foods in high quantities.
Very interesting...would like to see how antimicrobials would effect those with abnormal responses to food...
Surely if the gut microbes are different in different people, but the aim is to obtain low obesity and blood sugar levels, and since the response also depends on what gut microbes are present, then to help the obese and sweet-blooded is firstly to convert their gut microbes into the "good" ones.
This suggests that a generally applied diet should first be applied to get the microbes we want, and then following the different measurements of the sugar and fat (or weight) change, some more specific diets should be used to a) maintain the same gut (now satisfactory) microbes and to b) specifically help the nature of the individual to oppose any possible natural tendency to be sweet or fat or both.
My thoughts on this are due to logic, not experience as a dietrician!
The gut microbe issue also needs to be corrected individually as it does not depend on diet alone.
This research is basically the deathknell of fad diets because once we can begin personalized nutrition then all it does is cut out the guess work of finding out what works for you.
basically buy a glucose sensor and measure yourself. then you know after a week. :-)
So who do I send my poop and blood to?! lol
That is a Nobel prize winning idea !!!
This was 8 years ago and I haven't seen or heard of anyone talking about this study until now. Anything new come out from this study group?
Correct me if I'm wrong (and forgive me my ignorance), but carbs will metabolize into glucose no matter what. So the purpose here is not to reduce total daily amount of sugar getting in your blood (as some posters seem to imply) but to avoid high glucose spikes.
I am also curious about that mysterious "algorithm" - if they did develop an algorithm and it worked for random 100 people, where is it now 4 years later? Where is a phone app, PubMed, anything?
you dont need an app. you need the glucose meter and to measure yourself after every meal. or they need to measure your poop, to predict what to eat.
I can't wait for the day to see mainstream doctors ordering stool testing for microbial analysis and then referring to the dietitian for a personalized diet RX! That will be awesome when this happens.
They will never do it.
This happens now (for approx. 1300 NIS), as I juat saw from Facebook add. I gyess you can do it now. Still privately, but if this works, it definitely can become basic in near future.
Sorry for typos
How can I get a personalised nutrition plan base on this work? Is the algorithm public?
Just saw an add on Facebook, they sell the test now. That’s how I got to this UA-cam video... :o
If an insulin resistance problem is present, isn't it much easier to suggest and follow an LCHF diet? Studies like this one are a step in the right direction. But they present a band-aid way too small for the problem to be addressed. A very cute effort.
But if we start early, if we get to people in their teens, maybe they'll never get insulin resistant to begin with. I love sushi and I love ice cream; and giving up both to be LCHF is sad. If I can have one of them back then I can enjoy some foods when it comes to carb cycling.
please please let me be one of the millions who will benefit from your research,,, I am looking for a doctor and/or dietitian who will work on my diet using your research alogarithm... please put me in touch with any one doing this..
anybody else in 2018 here, whats the update on this thing?
Jyst saw an add on Facebook that you can but the trst now somehow. This is how I got here
Buy the test*
