    *BAYLEE PLEASE READ THIS I OWN A CRICUT AND KNOW EXACTLY HOW TO DO THIS*
    Here is how I cut my stickers. I cut out everything once so even the border gets cut like a regular sticker. The stuff that is the actual sticker is “attached” (with the attached button)to the background.
    You print and cut it out like normal. No problems there. But then to cut through both the liner and the sticker I take the inside of the sticker or the little characters (in this case) and make it so that they are invisible. (I press the little eye button and they disappear from the canvas).
    I then go back to the cut screen and my image is there without the inside of the stickers. The borders are still the same as when you printed out. No problems there and no need to re-print and such.
    You then just cut the border on a setting that cuts deeper. (I would give you my exact settings except I have a cricut maker).
    So now you have die cutted the border (or rather cut the edge/border of the stickers out) while having the stickers kiss cut.
    In my opinion that’s the only way to properly do this just because of the way the program is. The silhouette cameo has feature where you can choose different depths for different lines in the program (so I’ve heard) but the cricut does not.
    With this method the cricut will end up cutting the border twice, once to the depth of the liner and again through the liner.
    But if you decide to cut twice with the animals first and then move to the border it won’t line up because the program is made to condense things as close as possible so it won’t be able to account for the border that you would be trying to cut out later. I guess you found that out through trial and error.

      Pinkus Dean Actually this has to do with the program itself not the machine or the way it cuts. Baylee just shows the cutting more than her on the computer using the program. If you get the cricut and understand the program by looking up videos and tutorials you would completely understand my comment. It makes the most logical since. I’ve seen comments here and gone “what the heck is this” or “this comment is sooo unhelpful” also comments where people say to trash the cricut or throw it out and get a silhouette. Like?? I understand that program does more but this machine is just as nice and it’s easier to find products for it and it’s integration with the cricut access is really good.

      I know you already bought the Cricut, so this won't help but I have the Scan N Cut, you can scan your art directly into the machine and it will put a border around your art and cut it for you.

      I wouldn't say that. I have a silhouette and I'm not happy because I have to buy the software again, since over the years and change of computers I lost the software and without you don't have the import of vector designs. But I'm rambling.
      Some functions and principles are the same and one general advice is to start with the intricate cut, which you can't fix and follow up with the outer cut which you can fix.

      Silke Schümann that’s why the only software I use is Sure Cuts A Lot! With my hard drive backups, I’ve been able to transfer the software to my next computer.

      The only software lost is the one that came with my silhouette. In General I don't have a problem with transferring software from one computer to another. And the silhouette is not completely useless without, just not as functional as I like the machine to be and it annoys me that the company only releases a basic version for free. Oh well, one of these days I will order the replacement, as much as it annoys me.

I am not very computer savvy, but I figured it out quickly. Tutorials are your friend! Melody Lane on UA-cam is GREAT. I love my Maker!! I'm also a cricut owner, I definitely agree about the tutorials, as for the mats each colour is meant for different things but after using mine for awhile I just grab which ever mat is nearest to me no matter the colour, as for print then cut which you will be doing for stickers it's kinda trial and error I've found closing the top lid while the sensor is detecting the lines helps. Also I find putting the dial to vinyl for my vinyl sticker paper cuts better than cricuts sticker paper setting.

      agenderemryspaperart I believe the adhesive is different on the pink mat. It has been said that you’re not even supposed to scrape those mats to get little pieces of thread and fuzz off. I think they said that stuff made it stickier, but don’t quote me on that.

  • @angeldranger

    Tip: Everything needs to be attached. The separate mats won't align like you see in the cutting section. ALSO A huge help: Make two separate files from your photoshop file. One being the background (with the bleed white borders) and one being the actual stickers in a transparent png(no bleed borders). The design studio will make it transparent for you. Align on top of each other and attach both. (Have everything set to print and cut) For sticker paper set it to sticky note (less strength pressure on blade) and you should have perfect kiss cut stickers. You'll just have to cut all the excess white since you can change the pressure for the outside cut. I constantly watch my machine. Cause the times I don't the blade misses. XD I can't wait to see your awesome stickers!!!

    • @BayleeJae
      @BayleeJae  5 років тому +8

      This is exactly what I did before trying unattached with sticker paper. If they are all attached, you can only set one pressure for the entire cut, as you said. Is there no way to make different lines cut with different pressures.

    • @BayleeJae
      @BayleeJae  5 років тому +6

      That was supposed to be a question mark at the end, haha.

    • @angeldranger
      @angeldranger 5 років тому +3

      Baylee Jae Yeah you are only able to set it to one pressure. It's a give and take. It just won't let you pick various pressures to use. I honestly wish it did that. >.< So the only process is to do a print and cut. Cut for the final size, and cut for the inside individual stickers for kiss cut. At a less pressure it won't cut all the way through, and I can just trim everything down with a paper cutter. If the blade continues to miss make sure it's calibrated. (that big square center with the number lines test) I ended up learning that if the machine doesn't grab the mat board correctly it will be unaligned. The first few times are the hardest. >.<
      I hope you are able to figure it out! Cricut machine is a Godsend for me for stickers, and button backings ( I finally figured that out recently!!) I can shoot over a screenshot of my layers section of my design space if that can help.

    Baylee bless you. I bought a Cricut Maker last November specifically to cut stickers and went through exactly what you did. I tried to just cut so I could make bigger stickers, didn't work. I got frustrated, because the print then cut wastes so much paper, and didn't touch my machine for about six months. I finally got fed up with having such an expensive machine sitting doing nothing that my mind finally said "wasting paper is better than letting that machine go to waste." Fast forward and I'm currently drawing up my own set of sticker designs, using the print then cut feature, and getting ready to start selling some stickers. I just wanted you to know that you're not alone in struggling with this brand of machine. I've seen artists use the Silhouette and make awesome stickers and it looks so easy, most of that is because the Silhouette design software has a feature that allows you to draw your own cut lines and set them, so that when you print, you can do so full sheet and then it will cut where you set that line. It seems to me that the Silhouette is designed for people who are used to having control over all aspects of the design and the Cricut isn't as much. Someone summed it up in a review pretty well: The Cricut has the better machine, but the Silhouette has the better software. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Anyway, I just wanted to share that my experience was rough and frustrating too and that you're not alone! Thank you so much for sharing this (it really made me feel validated in my feelings and frustrations toward Cricut) and I wish you luck!

    Just a disclaimer, Cricuts are kinda hard to get used to, but after a little bit, iT iS SO WORTH iT!! I am only 14 and I have a Cricut Explore Air. I love it and I use it for almost everything. Birthday cards, stickers, monograms, anything you want a Cricut can make. If anyone is thinking about buying a Cricut, I encourage to you do so even after watching this video. After you get used to it, it is very simple. Baylee, I encourage you to KEEP TRYiNG!! I also would love if you could make an updated video after you keep trying for a few weeks. Cricut actually has their own UA-cam channel that is VERY helpful. Also just keep in mind that the fast feature does make the cut less accurate, but keep trying and you will get it. I PROMISE! Love you and keep making awesome videos

    BAYLEE PLEASE READ THIS I OWN A CRICUT
    When working with vinyl you need to order Transfer Tape. (I also sometimes put it on top of my stickers when using cheap sticker paper just to make them feel and look nicer.) I personally would experiment with your Transfer Tape before buying it in bulk. I bought mine from Oracle 651 and while it gets the job done, it's not as sticky as I would like and can be a bit hard to work with at times. That being said, sometimes you can get Transfer Tape that is too sticky and nothing will come off of it. An easy way to fix that though is placing the Transfer Tape on a piece of fabric a few times (Your shirt if you please, that's what I do) before placing it onto your cut.
    How to Use Transfer Tape:
    You peel off the entire sheet that you cut off of the cutting mat. You then you peel away your excess vinyl. Start at a corner and slowly drag it away, being careful not to touch it with your cut. (Vinyl sticks to itself very, very easy) Once this is done and you are only left with your cut. Then place your transfer tape onto your cut, this will make it way easier to place. (You can also stop at this part if you like and just sell these as stickers or decals if you like). Then you'll make sure that your vinyl has transferred to your Transfer Tape. You do this by taking the scraper and running it over the top of the Transfer Tape that is on top of your cut. Once you think that your vinyl is transferred peel it away. If your vinyl hasn't transferred onto the tape just lay it back down and try it again. Once you peel it away successfully you can then place your cut anywhere you please. Once you find a spot that you like just stick the transfer tape down and go over it again with your scraper. Once you believe that your vinyl has transferred from your transfer tape to your object slowly peel the tape away. Like I said before if your cut hasn't transferred properly simply lay it back down and go over it with the scraper until it comes off of your transfer tape. Once your design is down you can just peel away your transfer tape and discard it if you like. (Some Transfer Tape brands are so sticky that you can use them multiple times, again, just see what works for you and what you like.)
    Also, good vinyl to use is Oracle 651! You can get it for cheap, just look and see what you can find on Amazon. Also, HTV or Heat Transfer Vinyl is vinyl that you use for shirts and other things that are wearable. I would recommend using HTV from Siser Easyweed if you ever decide to make your own t-shirts.
    Just stick with your cutting machine and I promise you will get your moneys worth out of it and much, much more.

    The cricut machines are nice, but the cricut software is an abomination. First thing to do is double check that you're making the inside and outside cuts compound shapes, not just grouping them together. It might be called complex in cricut. This makes the all the cuts one shape - the interior cuts are basically negative space. Fill the shape with a color to test that youre doing it correctly. If that doesn't work, you might want to try putting a blade in each side of the carrier. Assign one side kiss cut and the other side full cut. If you can order the cuts, cut all interior cuts first, then outside cuts. With either method, print the outside cut with a bleed (cricut used to do this, but I guess they stopped), so that if the second cut is slightly off, it won't matter.

    • @BayleeJae
      @BayleeJae  5 років тому +11

      I used attach, not group, but I'll look into the complex cut thing!
      Cricut does cut with a bleed. My green background rectangles are exact final cut size, and the software adds the bleed so it cuts within the lines.

My other sister has a Silhouette but Michaels seems to have a lot more supplies for Cricut. The colour reminds me of the Pantone colour of the year 'Living Coral' it's so yummy! 😍 I might paint my art room to match it now lol.

    Baylee.. if you ever want to scan your printed paper to cut.. you can only do this on white paper with the explore air.. maybe rethink the Cricut Maker! It will scan colored paper. It's also faster. With the investment you are putting in.. the maker will have more advanced/adaptable features over time. I love both of my machines but the Maker is a game changer! Love your videos! Also watch Melody Lane and Ken's Kreations for design help!

    I have a silhouette portrait cutting machine and I had similar issues with it. I put it away for 2 years and pulled it out a month ago. Everyone has trouble with either machine when you have it kiss cut the sticker and cut throught to divide. What most people do is use the cuter to kiss cut the stickers and use a separate guillotine or slice cutter to separate the sheets. Have fun!

    I have a silhouette cameo - I use it to make heat transfer vinyl for tee designs. It’s fun but time consuming! Be sure to have a lot of extra blades on hand - they get dull pretty quickly. I also recommend, if you can find it from Cricket, to get the extra long cutting mats. They’ll let you get more done at once.
    Also, I love how your cats were so interested in you new toy. Kiki looked like she was listening to your explanation towards the end. ^_^

    I own a cricut machine Explorer 2 as well, and I know exactly how you're able to do this!!
    You cut the page out like normal, so rounded corners and all. Kiss-cutting the stickers is a little difficult when placing them unless you've uploaded the photo and left all the silhouettes (and selected CUT not print+cut). Line them up with the page shape, select VINYL on your cricuts dial. If you're worried it'll be too deep, just select the option a little lighter cut depth. THEN cut. This will give you that sticker-paper style you're looking for! :D

    I’d recommend buying some transfer tape if you plan on doing stuff like sticking the baylee jae letters to your sketchbook. Makes transfering vinyl really easy and accurate.

    As someone with a Cricut, and a cat, the time comes when there is cat hair and other debris on my mat. Cleaning it with a lysol wipe (or two) and some elbow grease will remove all of the gunk and also "re-sticky" your mat. The mats are not cheap and you don't need to buy a new one when your current one gets a little funky. Hope this helps in the future when the time comes.

    I have the Silhouette so unsure how exactly the Cricut works BUT, regarding the cutting issue, try using different outline colors (page outline cut one color, sticker outline cut another color) having different outline colors allow you to set different cut settings/levels (stickers kiss cut & sticker page fully cut through) hope this helps!

    Just an idea on the button packs. What about putting them in the clear little baggie (just one their own, no backing) and putting a sticker on the bag of what’s in it, but something simple like “Sailor Moon Pack”, “Animal Crossing Pack”. I know people won’t be exactly able to see what’s in the packs if the buttons are just put in there and sort of flip and sink towards the bottom. But it was just a thought I had! And thought I’d share it. 😊

    you should still make some buttons (if you have time ofc) when i go to cons i just love buying a bunch and if you can get it to work smoothly you should sell some stickers on your store too they’d be such a hit! It’s such a bummer they didn’t tell you sooner and that prep is complicated

    I own a scan n cut and even though they work differently, I understand your frustration. Not sure if the mats are the same, but wet wipes clean them pretty well! Just need to give it time to dry and get sticky again.

    Quick tip for stickers like that (especially when laying out letters) you can put a peice of packing tape on the back of your hand ( to make it less sticky), line up the letters of the piece of tape and then tape them to whatever you’re putting them on. So then when you peel off the tape you have perfectly centered and evenly spaced letters

    Baylee if you want to efficiently transfer something like that to your cover. I know this was just practice but just trying to help out. You can peel everything else other than your name and the symbols. Then take masking tape, lay it over everything. Then peel the back sheet that the vinyl is hooked to off. Place the masking/letters on your book then slowly peel the tape off leaving the vinyl stuck to your book.

    Hi Baylee, just a hint on using Cricut. Never take your paper out of the tray or punch the finish/ remove button until you check and see if the cut has gone all the way through. That way if you need to you can push the load button and it will cut over the top of what was just done. If you you take it out before checking it will never cut over what you already did. Have fun and check UA-cam for videos there are many tutorials for you.

    I have both machines I like both for different reasons, I use my silhouette for cutting stickers and my cricut for cutting thicker material or more detail designs. I like my silhouette because I could assign the cut colors to a different material types, so I can kiss cut my sticker and cut of the backing sheet in one go....I've never cut sticker with my cricut... so I've never had that problem...good luck and have fun.
