Gears of war literally changed the course of my life. As a kid, i remember i was horrified of blood, it scared the shit out of me. I once got conker's bad fur day as a gift (it had the squirrel i main'd in diddy kong racing, what could go wrong?), and the moment i saw blood, i turned off the game and wanted to throw away the game to the garbage (my parents stopped me). Years later as a teenager i was still scared of it but at gatherings i got pushed into trying gears of war. The game was so fun i just couldnt help to keep playing it even with all the blood and gore, to the point that with time, i got used to all the carnage and overcame my fear of blood. That helped me become a doctor. I remember i still got dizzy in my first surgery with all the blood spilling everywhere, but i also got used to it. If it wasnt for gears of war i would have never even considered becoming one, so the game has a place in my heart because of it

I can honestly say that "Star Wars" changed my life back in 1977. I was 10 years old, and always have a wild, vivid imagination..... but that movie made me believe that "anything is possible". As for games..... "Team Fortress Classic" didn't exactly *change* my life..... but it did *SAVE* it. You see, my first wife was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer in late 2003, she battled it for a few years, but it eventually claimed her in August of 2006. Even knowing that the end was coming, I completely lost it when she died. I spent 5 days in a drug and alcohol induced state of mind that was absolutely self destructive. After that (and I had set the limit of that time frame), I went back to work (which also helped me to cope), but upon returning home to face the reality of her being gone, drugs and alcohol were my way to cope. But also, playing Team Fortress Classic on a particular server. A server with a community that, being honest, rallied around me during my time of need. A couple members of that community actually came to my house one weekend, to make sure I wasn't going to do something as stupid as it would be permanent. They did that on their own dime, and it meant a lot to me. I am still friends with them to this day. But even those who couldn't show up in person, expressed their feelings towards me both on the forums and in the game's server. It was an amazing show of support that helped pull me out of the state of mind I was in, and let me know that I could "live again". Because a large part of me died the day my wife had. I was permanently altered, and for a long time, I didn't care if I lived or died. I did some stupid and dangerous stuff because of that state of mind. But that game, and moreover, the people I played it with, saved my life. I am forever grateful for that.
Kirby's Return to Dreamland also actually changed my life! It somehow brought me on a way to encourage having an unbreakable character and a limitless supply of "It is what it is."
Gears and halo will always have a special spot in my heart. I never had online till way past the golden days of multi-player but going over to my friends house and playing splitsceen multi-player will always be a fond memory.

Thank you for this Charlie. Gear of War 1 multiplayer also changed my life. Listening to your trajectory in the game makes me think we played in similar circles. I was never great and making montages, I did one joke one with a friend but did a lot of 1v1 and 2v2 sniping that I still have on this channel. It was one of the best times of my life, I have since lost my best friend that I would play everyday with so the memories are even more cherished. I hope you keep playing, I'd love to see the community come back on that game.

it's crazy that I definitely played with charlie back then and I remember subscribing to his channel early on. The days of those 1 second delayed headshots were something.
So happy Charlie finally expressing his love for gears of war. Remember growing up staying up late watching my dad play the first gears of war on Xbox 360.
Gears of war changed my life It was my first ever shooter game, it was how me and my dad bond I was always in the side lines just watching him play other games until that faithful day… he booted up the game and got his controller. I asked him “ooooo that game looks scary” and he said “well your in luck kid your playing with me” my heart sank out of pure joy but also fear. Of course I sucked ass I was 12 and never played video games, but with that being said me and my dad played all the gears games up until tatics. I never tryed the multiplayer bc I didn’t want to put my dad on the side lines but it was an absolute pleasure to watch other ppl play it. To this day it’s my all time favorite game, not only it got me into video games but story telling in general wich lead me to creating art.
I remember your COD leap frog videos. That is how i found you back in the very early days. Good times, you deserve all the fame you had. Thanks for like... idk 20 years of content? Rad on all sides.
This made me remember when my dad used to play Desert Storm and I used to sit by him and watch him play (When he finished the game twice I told him that he could move all four soldiers together which I realized late and he would move them one by one), even when I wasn't home I would call him and ask him about what mission he was in, truly a good memory. He used to play that one tank game witha red logo I can't find it, he finished that too and I was too scared to play any of them as a kid. Edit: the tank game was called recoil.
It's awesome to see you getting back into Gears Charlie. Us Gearsheads have been struggling for a few years with no new information or game announcements. We all just want a Gears of War collection like the MCC or Gears 6 to be announced.
Gear of war will forever hold a special place in my heart for the simple fact it was my one of my brother favorite games series of all-time ( unfortunately he isn’t here with us anymore ). Playing gears of war 3 nowadays for me is always a throat punch and tears flowing when dom goes on and when Marcus in the end sits on the beach and finally lets one out. I will forever cherish and be thankful for the memories this game gave me playing with my brother.
The trailer alone I felt was so groundbreaking or at least defining that it changed how games were marketed from then on. I honestly from that decade can't remember alot of game trailers, recently I had to look up that GOW trailer and it still holds up to this day. A work of art.
Gears of war has the most cleanest sounds ever to me, its soothing hearing the chainsaw just mutilate the enemy is music to my ears and the gnasher absolutely disintegrating the enemy just brings me back to those simpler times
commented on the last Gears vid you posted, but it always makes me happy to see you show this to the new gen We played back int he day with like butter and iceman, fallin tree nizmojoe Calmosityyy etc. Gears 1 was the best accident of a multiplayer never to happen again
yeah this game was a huge influence in my early 20s, especially in the shooter action genre; now that I've been completely blind for several years I still have fond memories of multiplayer online, except maybe host advantage and crab-walking ... must have played tens of thousands of execution matches and maybe like one or two Warzone, had zero chainsaw kills and I was proud of it haha

it's crazy that I definitely played with charlie back then and I remember subscribing to his channel early on. The days of those 1 second delayed headshots were something.
got so used to playing with that type of lag I miss it nowadays
Charly literally on a 1v1 gun fu showdown is one the hardest moment I have ever see
"17 years ago" - I've never felt this old😭😭
So happy Charlie finally expressing his love for gears of war. Remember growing up staying up late watching my dad play the first gears of war on Xbox 360.
this situation is exactly how splatoon 1 is for me. that game changed my life, and only the most skilled are left playing. I go back from time to time
You got me wanting to go back and play after getting so hype on those shots
the most emotional I've seen him in so long, that's how you know he is passionate about this game lmao
From memory, I think Gears was one of the first online multiplayer games I played on Xbox 360. It blew my mind as a kid.
I dont think ive ever seen charlie as expressive as he was here, what a top tier stream
Stream them all moist 👍 I really enjoyed your playthrough of 1
charlie really is a gamer and you can see him literally glowing when he hits those no scope headshots
I love Baird's scream when chainsawing, brings back good mems
The trailer alone I felt was so groundbreaking or at least defining that it changed how games were marketed from then on.
I honestly from that decade can't remember alot of game trailers, recently I had to look up that GOW trailer and it still holds up to this day. A work of art.
Hearing the Gears 1 menu music makes my heart sing. What a game.
Gears of war was the first game I was ever addicted to. Ended up being ranked 7 in the world. Crazy.
Bro you crabwalking around 4:00 and getting absolutely smoked by that Baird dropped my jaw too lmaoo Helluva shot
Zzirgrizz's sniping montages in CoD MW2 did the same for me too
this was actually incredibly nostalgic to watch. takes me right back to grade/high school.
been a hardcore gears of war fan for ever and im hyped to game tn , hopefully population boost from this content
Gears of war has the most cleanest sounds ever to me, its soothing hearing the chainsaw just mutilate the enemy is music to my ears and the gnasher absolutely disintegrating the enemy just brings me back to those simpler times
Gears 1 was my first dabble into online multiplayer. Will always have a special place in my heart.
These videos have had me playing Gears for the last week. I forgot how truly addictive the multiplayer is.
I love how Charlie just turns into a straight up dolphin by the end of the video
commented on the last Gears vid you posted, but it always makes me happy to see you show this to the new gen We played back int he day with like butter and iceman, fallin tree nizmojoe Calmosityyy etc. Gears 1 was the best accident of a multiplayer never to happen again
i dont have the appreciation for the multiplayer of this game like you do but i do still have a whole lotta love for it
It's hilarious how emotional he gets over this game. I love whenever he misses when he gets all mad.
2006-2011 was the pinnacle of online gaming, so many bangers
Watching you play this on stream brought back SO many good memories! Fuckin' love Gears of War
I wish more games got this quick reload mechanic it feels so satisfying getting it each time
yeah this game was a huge influence in my early 20s, especially in the shooter action genre; now that I've been completely blind for several years I still have fond memories of multiplayer online, except maybe host advantage and crab-walking ... must have played tens of thousands of execution matches and maybe like one or two Warzone, had zero chainsaw kills and I was proud of it haha
