Your girlfriend is smart 🙂. I was tempted by the arc (but haven’t got round to it yet!) and apparently it is very similar in toughness to Lakeland so I expect that would be perfect prep.
Ahh so the organisers specify it has to be a solid cup. Possibly due to collapsible cups and the high likelihood of injury with a hot drink. It has been a much debated topic!
