I would really be interested in a video on how you plan your trips. picking locations, travel, maps, schedules etc
INDEEEDDD
yh i really want to do a solo tripped but find it a bit overwhelming organising it
@@averyintelligence you don't need to organise anything, that's an easy excuse.
Me too!
@@DerekDerekDerekDerekDerekDerek huh? that sounds like an extremely irresponsible thing to do. one needs to plan or at least have an idea stop off points where one can charge appliances. by solo trip i mean weeks backpacking. not some silly overnight trip that u may be doing.
if you think people like liam dont organise their trips then you have a lot to learn. not every route has signposts. u have no idea where i live nor do you know my age.
in future try to be supportive of people instead of projecting your own messiah complex on people. your comment serves no purpose other than to boost your own ego.
tip: grow up. the world doesn't revolve round u
Undoubtedly the best hiking channel out here. No music , no hiking in silence for the entire video (not that those things are bad it’s just not my cup of tea) i find you have much more down to earth style instead and it’s more enjoyable
yes there's so many "i found myself in the woods" types of hiking videos, no offense, just not my cup of tea, like you said. i really like the no-nonsense in combo with the simple gratitude in liams videos
I agree. I made an exception with another channel as their photography was amazing but I just love the chilled vibes and like we're on the hikes with Liam too.If I hear any music in a video now I click off as I can't handle anymore stimulation plus if I can't get out for a hike I can do via Liam's videos, well sort of! ;)
Cheers Liam. I can't wait to get out there again this year. Keep the awesome work up. You're helping a lot of people with these videos, not just technically but lifting everyone's spirits.
Thank you for sharing your honest experiences and advices, they're always so valuable and encouraging. Safe travels for 2024!
You sir are one amazing person ! Now in our time the next generation may never experience this life. During covid I become lost, just into social media. It gave me anxiety and I was destroying myself. I've given it all up. Brought some camping stuff and at last I want the freedom and nature.... properly a inspirational. Watching you just made me feel that I can feel alive yet again..... best inspirational you tube channel. Honest, real and just great
Let me share something with you. In the chaos of a world revolving around money, buildings, commodities, and luxuries, we often forget how to walk, how to breathe, how to take a pause, and appreciate existence itself. We give it meaning, a reason to become… Unfortunately, this trend of ‘happiness’ from industrialization and globalization has hurt and domesticated our inner selves.
People like you, with everything you do and express, are what I deeply appreciate in this existence. Even in this world of backpacking, I found myself doing it because I wanted to liberate myself from the rush and chaos of NYC. It’s a kind of materialism, caring for gear, brands, etc., just to be ‘more comfortable,’ which is fine to a degree. However, many reviews and brands are damaging the world of nature appreciation.
That aside, seeing people like you truly inspired me; from simple hikes in upstate NY to setting up enough gear to shelter in, to having a trip to Greece and being on an island of Milos in December, off-season, just enjoying existence and the simple pleasures of water, shelter, and a taste of culture.
Thank you, Liam, for that. Even without knowing you, you’ve had an impact on my days, helping me find the things I enjoy the most.
Cheers 🧉
Happy New Year Liam!!! Great timing as I've made the investment in better shoes(Altra's) and quality wool toe socks(learned the my lesson) Impressed with your practical meets economical approach. Surprised there wasn't a sewing kit. Happy trails in 2024💖
I appreciate the relaxed and unbiased review of what you use and why you do it. So often you'll see people arguing that you must use this expensive brand, or that custom made piece of equipment to do things that a lot of country folk or ex military did with nothing more than cheap/used gear and a good attitude.
Nice to see someone has actual experience and is sharing gear that uses itself, thanks!
Have a nice 2024 year 🙂
Cheers Liam, really interesting to see ...and love your "it doesn't matter, just get out there" attitude about it.
I really appreciate your vids, thanks for sharing 😊
Happy new year travels for you Liam for this year. ✌️😊👍
Genuine thanks for the video, recently moved to the Highlands and keen to get out as much as I can on my days off! Slowly getting the gear together, seeing this really does help with what I want and need! Much appreciated
Thanks for sharing Liam. Happy New Year
Every now and again, you see a video that blows your mind! This is one of them (for me). Firstly, I love your approach and some of the explanations for your kit. Using an app for kit lists is a game changer. Thank you! (and Ive subscribed)
Cheers for sharing. I admire the way you keep it simple and minimal.
Happy New Year Liam. I hope that you have bigger and better adventures in the coming years. I use my phone to film my videos as well.
Nice I'm taking notes. I really hope to start my own backpacking journey this year, plan is to work until Spring/Summer to save up a bit more and just go for it. I'm 25 now and not getting younger. You've really inspired me man so thank you.
I have been hoping you would do a nice video like this. Nice and nerdy and techy..love it. Best.
Looking forward to all your uploads this year mate, I thoroughly enjoy your channel. Thanks for all the videos!
Where do you find the trails you walk, is there a site you reference? Also do you see yourself doing any huge hikes like the PCT?
Thanks again man
Great video, mate. I'm going take some ideas of your equipment recommendations for my hiking trips
video looks great liam! i love your work so inspiring. one of my goals this year is to go on a solo camp, i got a 2 man tent because im 6'5 😂
Nicely done again, great kit list looking forward to your adventure's this year, be interested in those trail runners as I was going to buy the saucony pair 😂 👍
Thanks for the video. So interesting to learn what you carry and your ethos on adventure which shines through on all your videos. Safe travels in 2024 and we look forward to watching your very relaxing videos. They have a very calming effect! Interesting to note too that some of the heaviest items you carry are actually used to produce the videos. I am sure that you enjoy doing the videos so you can look back on your travels and for family too.
Hello Liam, I love watching your videos and I enjoy seeing the gear you use. I was wondering if you had a more detailed version of your walks in regards to a map layout of the exact route you take. I know you have the little maps in the beginning with the overall route but I was wondering if you had more detailed version? Thanks for the videos!
Watching/listening to Liam is the YT equivalent to staring in to my log fire. Love it!
All the best on your travels for 2024 Liam, enjoy and stay safe. Looking forward to watcing the videos! 👍😎
If your relying on your lighter, probably best to attach it to a lanyard, and wear it around your kneck along with an emergency whistle, incase you drop it. You could also wrap some fluorescent material around the lighter so its easier to see if you misplace it in the dark. Nice kit list.
Happy new year Liam
Masterfully elaborated bud, your content is always appreciated and simply professionally executed! Bravo my friend!
Thank you for that Liam, you are such an inspiration to me, I love going on an adventure and being on my own with the nature ☺️
I wish one day I will be as brave as you 🙏
Happy 2024 and we all will be looking forward to your adventures 🙏
Nice review. A good mix of top kit and some improvisation. I was just wondering, when you've done the Euro adventures, is your bag checked in? At 40 litres, I'm guessing so. Cheers, pal.
All the best Liam😊
Thx for sharing this. Always interesting & helpful to see what others carry. Bring on 2024👍
Love your relaxing videos Liam. Great info.😊❤
Looking forward to your travels in 2024! Greetings from Florida,US 🏝
Hey Liam thanks for doiing this and thanks for doing the videos I always look forward to the next and new ones keep them coming Brian
Great video, some excellent choice of equipment with the exception of the water bottle, I would alway use a BPA or stainless bought bottle as ones used for spring water will be life expired and may start bleaching chemicals or micro plastics.
nice setup! have fun out there!
Watching your videos has started me on my hiking/ wild camping journey! Cheers mate, loving it so far 👍
Yes!!! This is what we wanted hope this year brings many, many adventures for the main Chap, Liam Brown. Much respect bro
Thanks for the shopping list. Perhaps the method of how you decide to organise a trip, you have mentioned in previous vids. I hope you get the financial backing for a North America trail or European Pilgrimage Trail...
Many Happy Trips for the future; even if you revisit old places. The change in season and facilities would be great feedback for those responsible for the routes. Perhaps visit the trail is being maintained by volunteers..
Great Attitude - Keep it up "you really need a catch phrase - LoL".
Brilliant Liam thanks..Will be getting kitted out soon when I retire 😊
Always appreciate you focus more on the experiences rather than obsess over the gear like so many others
Thanks for your videos... 12.34am when I got to sleep last night 😂 after watching loads of your videos. Makes me want to make sure I get out and explore more this year!
Decent gear list and a thats a blessing for the tent, 100% right about its not about the label of the gear more fit for purpose and its only 10% of the enjoyment the adventure and storytelling you do after is the best part
Looking forward to another year of adventures mate 👍
I grew up hiking with big heavy Scarpa hiking boots. Im from the Scottish highlands and Ive been climbing munros since I was 4. I always had blisters, and often hurt my ankles/knees. Hiking in the Canaries 9 years ago my friend only ever hiked with sandles. I was amazed. Since then I started minimalising the shoes I hike with. Barefoot shoes are great. My feet and ankles are much stronger and I no longer get injuries or blisters. 😊
Good to see somebody else wearing the Brooks Cascadia 16 shoes. I was so impressed with them that I purchased a second pair whilst they were still available at half price. Very comfortable.
I never considered trail runners for this kind of thing. Do they hold up well on tougher terrain yeah?
Mate you have always been an inspiration. Keep up the great videos and appreciate the Gear list, cant wait to see what mad exploits you get upto in 2024.
I really appreciate that everything here is affordable. Most hiking UA-camrs definition of affordable is vastly different to mine. You’re a decent lad and you’re very in line with the average, run of the mill hiker. Fair play Liam!
audio sounding clean 👍🏻
Love that you just use a phone. I always think its what youtube was initially created for, people being creative on a budget with no big production, just a good story.
That was lovely advice at the end there 😊 I really appreciate you saying that 💚
Nice one Liam, thanx for sharing. atb
Nice vid Liam. Looking forward to see what you're doing in 2024 👌👌
Always love your stuff Liam.
Have you thought of doing the South West Coast Path at some point?
If you do do it, give me a shout and I'd be happy to assist if I can
This is just the video I’ve been waiting for! Could you go into depth about what you eat? And how you eat without cooking? How you make sure to get enough colories, protein, etc
Hey what do you use to film your videos! Thanks for the regular uploads!
Great video as always, Liam! Best wishes to you.
Gotta say the best and cheapest pack liner I’ve ever used is a garbage bag. Want more durability, spurge and get a contractor bag. 100% water proof, they even work when you dump on a canoe trip. And if you leave some extra air in them your bag floats.
You keep getting better
Liam well done mate and keep it up. Travel safe brother.
Nice kit! By the way have you tried hiking poles? You wouldn't need the freestanding tent kit and for me it makes hiking so much easier, but then again my kit is almost twice as heavy haha!
Great attitude as always Liam. 👍
Thanks for the video Liam! A question about the tent; being a single wall tent, did you notice any difference in terms of temperature, compared to a regular double walled one?
Been waiting for this.
Your pack is so light! That's my goal for 2024, to reduce weight - the legs... and back will be thankful.
Great video as always Liam 😎👍🏼
Happy new year Liam
Could you please advise me the make of your walking / training shoes
As embarking on a walk around north wales costal path 👍🏻
lightweight and functional. You're totally right, once you get a set of gear that works the main thing is getting out there and using it 👏
Thank you for the informative video about your equipment and perhaps I would like to point out the European manufacturers of Tents, Quilts and Backpacks such as Bonfus, Cumulus, Pajak and Weitläufer.
Hi Liam. We are both really enjoying your videos. Fabulous....💜We are sure we met you a few years ago walking next to the sea in Lyme Regis. We had a good chat & you gave us a book Wild Signs and Star Paths which we loved reading. I wonder if are right. Really hope we are. Lots of best wishes Wendy & Pete...💙🌊🐟🦐
Hey Liam. Thank you for the beautiful channel, really inspiring and genuine ❤
Just a question on your atom as I recently purchased one myself and am taking a trip to scotland soon. I noticed on your Norway trip that you used a rain cover for it, assuming you also used a good pack liner. Do you feel the rain cover is necessary? I know it’s not seam proofed but was thinking that the water getting in would probably be minimal and fine with just a good packliner, even in scotland. Would you disagree?
Hannah
Cant waith to see all your trips in 2024. take care
Great vid Liam, am i right in saying it appears that the front of your tent is damaged?
Good honest reviews Liam; keeping it clean and inspiring with your own passion.
Like you suggested; better is the enemy of good. Get out there with what you've got.
Keep 'em coming this year Liam, but not at the expense of your sanity.
I'm surprised that you don't use an external microphone, sound is always spot on. Even the walking at the end. . .
Have you tried Topo for hiking boots or trail shoes. Game changer, mate!
I love the color of your duplex! do you know what color it is? don't believe I see it online
What adapter do you charge the go pro with? I have the same go pro and when I charge it with my Samsung s20 official adapter, it only charges to 80% and the gopro gets hot. I have to use an old s5 mini charger to charge it properly.
My gear is my large moon camping chair with two cushions, footstool and PC to watch your vids, oh and a house to keep it in. Sorted.
Wondering if you use a gimble for ur phone footage? Thanks
always interesting to see where a pro like yourself spends for higher end stuff and where simple /basic is fine!
Love it every gram is a gram not having to be carried :)
What mic do you use? Thanks!
YES LIAM🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Do you ever have trouble going through airport security with the drone?
Love ya videos by the way 👍🏼
Nemo Extreme is going to be warmer than the xtherm, since it has an R value over 8 and is barely 1 pound
Recommend you get yourself some “Red on socks” designed by Mike Chadwick ex Para.
Best socks I’ve ever used mate
Great Liam 👍🏽
Do you size up with your shoes if wearing two pairs of socks, Liam?
I love the contrast between your tent & sleeping bag and say your rain jacket and your tesco value food hahaha. Also you're saving grams on some things but have two bulky power banks one of which only probably gives you half its initial power so power/weight it's extremely inefficient now. I have the same Anker power bank (the smaller one you showed) and it weighs I think 408g... To someone like you that is light-weight focused I'm surprised that you'd carry that around. I guess it works for week-long trips where you get absolutely no chance to plug into a wall.

Great gear list, wish I could afford the more expensive items on it. That Sawyer bag is not my favorite, I use the filter like you but got a cnoc bag instead.
On another note I'm not an UL or even just light backpacker so there're ofc. some things that I'd bring that you don't.
Electrolyte tablets, great idea! Cheers for the tips 🌲
Hello from Padang West Sumatra Indonesia. Thanks for nice sharing my friend
Thank you
How does one acquire a zpacks duplex in the UK without the import fees totaling £1200? Thank you!
You want to ask for a boot deal Liam. I've just ordered some of those cascadia 😅
Best channel on UA-cam.
