It's not unusual for someone to be able to understand some of a language but not be able to speak it. I'm not surprised the fisherman could only think in Spanish after a stroke but could still understand some English. There's a huge difference between expressive and receptive language, and a stroke can really highlight that difference.

I suspect that Robert Emhardt was pleased to play a decent character on film as opposed to the often villainous roles he generally was cast in. He made a great villain, but...comes a time when it is seems smart on the part of producers and directors to cast against type. One thing that didn't quite work in this episode----a result of the tiny budgets under which shows such as this were shot---is the obvious on-stage tiny "island" on which the two kids are stuck. Should've been dubbed, to eliminate the blatant echo in the voices, a dead giveaway that this was shot on an indoor tank in an echoing room instead of outdoors. (Plus the fog didn't quite disguise the back of the tank.) The dramatic conflicts in this story are quite unique, and highlight the kind of fresh, out-of-the ordinary drama and enterainment that can be explored in taking on paranormal-based material (whether one believes this sort of thing to be true or merely misunderstood and/or misreported everyday phenomena).

After the mother's reaction, the girl should'a shut her mouth about all that stuff and never said another word about it to anybody, especially her hillbilly hick parents. She needed to get the hell outta that house asap. Just be obedient and start plannin' on gettin' the hell outta there and never look back. Her parents did not even love or respect her. So what that they bore you into this world, all I saw was arrogance, stupidity and hate in her parents. How many millions of kids and young people are going through the same thing right now?!?! Leave and don't look back. Don't even call them or tell them anything, just go as soon as you can. The way things turned out anyway, I should'a never made contact with my family or my parents after I left home. Face reality and just move on with your own life, you just focus on you and only you, leave them to their own devices. Just work on building your own life and your own estate, never mind them. It disturbed me to hear the hate coming from her parents voices and words.

A Friend of mine was cleaning her apartment and had the vacuume running. I was waiting for her to finish and shut off the vacuum cleaner to ask her something. Then she turned it off and answered my question before I asked it. I was like..."Wthell? I didn't ask you yet and you answered what I was about to ask!" I don't know if you watched Heartland, but the grandfather and his son-in-law are only a couple of years apart in real life. It happens like that all the time. Newland even resued introductions. This didn't occur with Serling. Cut rate, poorly written Twilight Zones. Has some good actors. Just not as good. Likely due to this reliance on reported "supernatural facts," none of which can be proven. This is the weakness of the series. Fiction with a sprinkling of the unproven facts would've worked better.
