    Great video! Very helpful! Just curious - I realize this is a budget kit, but why not offer one with powder coating or anodized aluminum at a higher purchase cost to help avoid surface corrosion? It would also look better (just my opinion; others may disagree) to not draw attention by having visually exposed shiny silver spacers that obviously don't match any of the factory assembly. But then, you probably wouldn't get the same benefit of advertising value. Again, great video, thanks!

    Question I had the kit put on a 2020 3/2 and went from 265/75/16 to 285/70/17 new rims and tires looks sharp. But around 50 to 60 vibration in steering wheel new frount end alignment balance but still there any suggestions. This is a 2020 Tacoma TRD off rd. Only 2000 miles on this truck. Any suggestions?

    i have a question, im trying to install 3 inch spacers from a 1999-2004 tacoma on my truck, my only issue is, is that i cant get my lower strut back into the lca cause the strut is obviously longer due to the spacer. Any tricks on how to compress the strut to get it back in? Thanks

  • @BaldPeacock

    Does this lift (or any other lift for that matter) affect the Speedo reading of how fast you're driving?

    • @lowrangeoffroad1
      @lowrangeoffroad1  8 років тому +1

      +BaldPeacock There is no reason I can think of where a lift in-and-of-itself will cause your speedo to be inaccurate. Things that WILL affect speedo accuracy are gear ration changing of the transfer case, and differentials. Changing tire sizes will also affect speedo accuracy. Hope this answers your question.

    Only thing I didn’t see in video was the best way to spin the shock in the assembly as the spacer is installed it will alter the bolt pattern on top of strut by 45°.

    hi i need the kit for Toyota tacoma 2003 4x4 thank you

    • @lowrangeoffroad1
      @lowrangeoffroad1  7 років тому

      I am sorry to report that we do not have this kit for the O3 Tacoma. However may we suggest the following alternative. For the front:
      www.lowrangeoffroad.com/toyota-off-road-parts/1995-2004-toyota-tacoma-off-road-parts/suspension-parts/1995-2004-toyota-tacoma-1996-2002-toyota-4runner-front-bilstein-5100-adjustable-shocks-0-2-5-lift-f4-be5-d558-t0.html
      And for the rear:
      www.lowrangeoffroad.com/toyota-off-road-parts/1995-2004-toyota-tacoma-off-road-parts/suspension-parts/toyota-tacoma-tundra-block-and-ubolt-kit-7-8.html
      You will also need the diff drop kit to keep your front axle angles right:
      www.lowrangeoffroad.com/1995-2004-toyota-tacoma-1996-2002-4runner-1999-2006-tundra-differential-drop-kit-by-low-range-off-road-lr-1gddk.html
      The cost is almost as good as our LRT kit but is actually a better set up. Especially if your front shocks are needing replacement. The only real drawback is that you would need to have someone remove your existing coil springs from the old shock and install them on your new ones. Good luck. Let us know if we can help you with parts.

    Before you consider/purchase this kit, you will need to take some additional steps. Replace drivers side needle bearing with a bushing from ECGS. Also replace upper control arms with a set that is designed for a lift (alignment issues). I also added spyder trac wheel spacers to the front. Good luck!!!

    I have a 2017 tacoma trd off road 4x4 by installing this kit will anything prematurely wear? How does this affect towing?

    • @DiaLFonZo
      @DiaLFonZo 7 років тому

      I'm not a pro but since it doesn't touch the actual preload of the suspension it should not affect tow. As for wear i don't know i think the diff drop take care of any issues.

    • @KennysLyfe
      @KennysLyfe 6 років тому

      I was only affected on ball joints. It went out a month after I got the lift, even though it was never replaced before and is an old 2010. Towing will be slightly different feel wise since your front wheels will be slightly raised. (A more floaty feel), Shouldn't be bad since its just a leveling kit.

    i installed this kit, i got really bad vibration and noise from the front diff, after some research i found that there is needle bearings in the front diff(drivers side only) that needs to be replaced with a bushing to make this work. my Tacoma only has 2 thousand miles on it!! NEW truck...and i had to remove the lift kit because i did not want to do all of the extra work and money to make this work out(45 dollars for install tool, 45 dollars for removal tool and 65 dollars for the bushing)..and yes i did the diff drop spacers also. they dont tell ya that!!

      The upper control arm might touch the spring at full drupe but it is not a concern and nobody we know has needed to relocate the the sway bar nor have we done so on any of our R&D installs. I have a 2010 Tacoma, I just want to lift my front end 1.5". I don't need to do the diff or sway bar drop with that, do I?

    • @lowrangeoffroad1
      @lowrangeoffroad1  8 років тому +1

      Correct! You don't really need to do anything to the front differential or sway bar. And we do not have a spacer lift that will give you the 1.5' lift in the front but we do have an option that a lot of people like and that is a Bilstein Adjustable Shock. It is adjustable from 0 to 2.5" in .5" increments. This was a very well documented video. However, it is also the worst possible method for lifting an IFS Tacoma with a two piece rear driveshaft and carrier bearing. Sure it will work, but you will pay the price later. Not to mention those front axle CV Joints being very unhappy. It's all about Geometry.

    • @lowrangeoffroad1
      @lowrangeoffroad1  8 років тому

      Thanks for the comment. Yes, there are other ways to lift a Tacoma. However these kits are significantly more expensive and we do sell them if customers want to go the extra cost. But, for the price this is an excellent way to go. Granted we are lifting the front about 3" but the diff drop spacers included in the kit help the CV Joint angle concern. And the rear spacers are only raising the rear 1". Our goal is to not only lift but also level. Plus the rear spacers are angled so the proper U-joint angles are held pretty close. Then too, when you consider how easy our kits are to install, it is a pretty good way to go! Thanks for watching and commenting. I like the idea of this type of lift/leveling kit. I tried one on my old 2005 Tacoma and even with the diff spacers, and carrier bearing drop, it still had vibrations. I took the stuff off, sold it on eBay and never looked back. I hope your product works better than the one I bought.

    Will lifting a brand new truck void the warranty?

    • @lowrangeoffroad1
      @lowrangeoffroad1  8 років тому

      You should not have a problem with warranty. We sell our lift kits to many dealerships that install them on brand new Tacomas pretty regularly. However, if the dealership does not install the kit it could possibly void the warranty. The best thing to do would be to check with the dealership you work with. They may require that you have them install the kit. Thanks for viewing and commenting.

  • @PlugNuster
    @PlugNuster 7 років тому

    What about the geometry of the carrier bearing for the rear driveshaft? If you don't do something here, you MOST LIKELY will experience a vibration. Good video though.

    • @lowrangeoffroad1
      @lowrangeoffroad1  7 років тому

      Early on, that was a concern of ours as well. However, we tapered the rear spacer block in an effort to maintain, as close as possible, the correct drive line angles. Thankfully, we have not had any reported concerns with drive line vibration with this kit.

    • @lowrangeoffroad1
      @lowrangeoffroad1  7 років тому

      Additionally, we have several new car dealerships who are installing these kits on brand new Tacomas and Tundras. They, as well as the customers, are quite pleased with these kits. Thanks for viewing and commenting.

    • @lowrangeoffroad1

      Yes, this kit will fit perfectly on your 2017 Tacoma. Now as to the Upper Control Arms (UCAs). At full droop the upper control arm hits the coil spring, not with a lot of force, but it does hit. I think "Hit" is too strong of a term. It actually "TOUCHES" the spring at full droop. You are completely fine running this Leveling kit with out replacing the UCAs.

    Why the diff drop and bump stop spacers? I did a 2" lift on my truck and was told I didn't need either of those...Great video!

    • @lowrangeoffroad1
      @lowrangeoffroad1  8 років тому +3

      +Andrew Higgins With out the bump stop spacers the shock can go to full compression when encountering hard bumps, which can damage the shock. We fix this by spacing the bump stops, letting the bump stop take the hit, instead of the shock
      absorber. As to the importance of the Diff Drop. We feel the diff drop is pretty important in maintaining the proper drive axle angles. It reduces the risk of tearing those Constant Velocity Joint boots and keeping those CV Joints from premature wear from the increased angle. Hope this answers your questions. Thanks for commenting.

      @QwikKota 8 років тому +2

      +Andrew Higgins Some people have encountered grease leaking from the inner axle boots or some smoking to occur without the diff spacers. If you have 4WD I would definitely add them. Some kits do not include these.

    Hey I'm wanting to get my truck lifted but I'm worried about the excess wear and tear it might have on my truck what kind of problems could/will come from getting it lifted?

    • @lowrangeoffroad1
      @lowrangeoffroad1  8 років тому

      +Tyler Prince If the job is done right, by following our instructions the lift kit should last the life of the truck. The excess wear and tear will depend on how you use (or abuse) the truck which is going to occur with or without the lift. Our lift, unlike some other lifts on the market, does not effect ride quality. It should remain as good as before. Additionally, it is CRITICAL that you have your truck professionally aligned after the lift is installed. If it not aligned, you WILL have excessive tire wear problems as well as poor handling and braking. Hope this answers your question. Thanks for watching and commenting.

      +Spencer Hardman I spoke with Brycen who is in charge of these kits and he said the TRD model WILL be level at the end of the installation. If you install (or have installed) our kit or any other kit for that matter, be sure to have your truck aligned. Thanks for watching and commenting.

    When do you tighten the alignment bolts on the bottom where you loosened to lower the control arm? I didnt see that step in the video.

    • @lowrangeoffroad1
      @lowrangeoffroad1  8 років тому

      +Nai Saechao At about Point 10:20 in the video it shows when and how to tighten the alignment bolts. The main thing about tightening these bolts is to be sure they are tightened and torqued with the vehicle at ride height. This means the full weight of the vehicle should be on the wheels BEFORE tightening the inner control arm alignment bolts. Failure to tighten these bolts at ride height will greatly reduce the life of the inner control arm bushings. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching and commenting.

    • @lowrangeoffroad1
      @lowrangeoffroad1  8 років тому +1

      +Anton Sriphatthanakoon The ride quality after the lift was, as far as we could tell, same as before. But, because the truck was brand new and we are only about a mile from the dealership, we did not get to drive it as much as we'd like. As far as the picture: We wanted to take the picture with new rims and tires. We asked the dealership to call us when they had new tires and rims, but they never called. When we went to check on things the truck had been sold. Sorry. We will have to do another lift and get the pictures you and others have requested. However, here is a link to another 2016 Tacoma with our lift on it that was installed by the Dealership: blog.lowrangeoffroad.com/lrt-3-to-1-leveling-lift-kit-for-2005-2016-tacoma-and-pre-runner/

    do you not have to adjust the top plate of the shock since the spacer offsets the holes? wouldnt it make the bottom of the shock turned?

    • @lowrangeoffroad1
      @lowrangeoffroad1  7 років тому +1

      Yes, you raise a good point. The way to solve that is to place a bar (a large lady's foot pry bar works well) in the bottom shock loop and rotate the bottom of the shock. It takes a bit of force but it will line up just fine. Thanks for watching and commenting.

    A word of caution: when you torque the spacer nuts on the upper shock, be careful when you place something in the bottom part to keep it from rotating. I ended up twisting my lower shock so it wouldn't reinstall. Ended up having to replace the strut/coil assembly. Expensive mistake.

    Put one of these 3/1 lift leveling kits on my 2016 Tacoma. I have 5300 miles on the truck. I have a vibration at 35-40 mph. Took it to Toyota They claim that I have failed axles and failed needle bearings. I am going to remove this kit and see how much damage has actually been done. I have a Toytec lift on my 08 Tundra with no problems. The axles on the Tacoma are definitely at a steeper angle compared to the Tundra.
