I'm supposed to be on a low fat diet for health reason but I just went out and get a baked cheesy spinach with macaroni for dinner because SORTED made me crave it.
What we do at my work (a pub) is cook the pie content and then instead of letting it cool then adding the top and cooking, is bake the pastry separately and put it on top of the pie once everything is cooked. If you're cooking a lot of these, say for a dinner party or something, I would recommend doing it this way as if you burn them then it won't be that much of a catastrophe.
I made this tonight for dinner and out of all the pot pies i have made, this was the easiest and yummiest. My husband agrees and he is a foodies himself! I love your shows, keep it up!
Great videos guys! The chicken has been (1) Cooked (2) reheated in the sauce (3) reheated in the oven! I was always taught only heat cooked food once! Cheers guys
One on the best chicken pot pies recipe ever! Really rich, luscious sauce. Love the puff pastry and wine taste to it as well! This is more of an adult pot pie than the more common ones. This is a must try recipe. Thanks guys!
I tried this today-- it came out absolutely delicious. Only changes were subbing garlic powder as our garlic mysteriously vanished... And my mom decided to help me out by boiling the chicken whole. Had to let it cool to peel the meat off, but tossed everything back in the pot and the stock came out just fine. All and all super delicious, though I might try a more savory topping than puff pastry in the future. Thanks for the recipe, sorted! :)
I made this exact one the other day! I LOVED IT! WINNER WINNER CHICKEN POT PIE DINNER!!!!! So delicious, luscious, UNCTUOUS, silky PERFECT! Definitely SORTED!
As it's starting to cool down in Aus (finally), I've made this for dinner tonight guys. Yum yum yum! I didn't make the stock as I had some to use, I used chicken thighs chopped, I only had 1 leek, I added mushrooms and I also topped it with sweet potato mash as my partner doesn't like pastry (weirdo). So it was a few adjustments but it is so yummy! Rich and delicious, but the lemon really cuts through. It made 6 good sized individual pies, with 4 in the freezer for another night. This one is getting saved. Nice work lads.
Don't kid yourself Ben, the reason we're all here has nothing to do with our ability to make Chicken Pot Pie and everything to do with how much fun it is to watch you lot on camera.
If you don't want to use pastry switch things up & put a layer of mash & breadcrumbs/cheese, over the chicken & sauce. I call that a Chicken Coup Pie. Changing further you can make a white parsley sauce in place of the velouté. It goes really well with the mash topping.
Please could you guys consider doing a vegetarian recipe series. I find your guys' cooking the most easiest to follow and to be honest the yummiest! What I hate though is whenever I look up a vegetarian recipe and they all are healthy. Like no! I want a heart creamy pie recipe not come with all those superfoods! I'd love to see a vegetarian version of this pie! If anyone knows of one please let me know!!
Holly Peterkin Great request! We'll add it to the list. In the meantime you could definitely replace the chicken stock in this with veg stock and the meat with some wild mushrooms. It would be amazing! Also, check out sortedfood.com/recipe=1297 for another not so healthy vegetarian meal :D
I actually love you guys! Every time I think of something new I'd like to cook, you post the recipe for it the next day. Maybe it's a coincidence, maybe you're stalking me, either way, I'm not complaining! :D
This looks great!! And definitely easy for someone who's still learning her way around the kitchen! I've a question though: Can you use milk instead of the cream?
Excellent. I'm trying it this weekend. Interesting you have the peas on the side. I would chop the carrots instead of shredding them and put the peas inside the pie as well.
The stock part reminded me of a soup my mom used to make. But she would halve the onion, put it straight on the stove and char it before chucking it in with the rest. Don't really know what difference did that make but the soup was amazing every time.
When I eat this pie, it makes me so happy that maths doesn't make me want to drop out of school anymore. Thank you sorted food for keeping me in school .... And for the food!
Hello everyone, Daniel here and our family made your homemade chicken pot pies with a few difference and everything came out great. I wish we could have posted pictures of them. The thing we did differently is put the crust all around the pot pie. That's how I remember making them. We also used metal tins.
A cafe I use to go to just for their chicken pie switched pie brands and I haven't been able to find their old brand anywhere so I have been trying different recipes. This one sounds really creamy and will hopefully be close if not better then the one I've been searching for. 🏅
You won't get it probably, but I have a tip for you - while making stock, try burning the skin of onion (without shells) before adding it to the stock - it'll make the flavour much better.
Ben is so abusive to Mike! Is this how Tyrone and Tyrene have it at home Ben? Hmm... Thinking Child-Line might have some calls soon if you don't get your kids, SORTED. Ben! ;)
Amazing recipe, I'll be making it tonight! Here's a thing, boil egg noodles half-way and then add it into the pie to bake... You got yourself a chicken noodle pot pie, yummmmmm.
In my town in Pennsylvania, USA, chicken pot pie is actually a thick stew made with chicken, potatoes, onions, celery, and buttery squares of pastry dough that become like dumplings in the broth. It is the ultimate comfort food!
Why do I have to live on the west coast where it's all super high quality foreign food! I just want that! Too bad it's 2000 miles away... What town is it?
Ok Ben, I make pies all the time (I'm the designated pie baker for the family holidays) but I'm absolute CRAP at the edges. Could you do up a skills video for how to make your pie edges look pretty while sealing the top crust to the bottom? I'd be ever so grateful to see this one!
I really love your recipes and want very much to try them but I cannot have alcohol due to the medications I am on. Is there an alternative t the wine I can use that will still give a good flavor?
As much as i love this channel, i'm starting to realise how i really dont learn much from here. Ben speaks too fast. After watching many other cooking channels on youtube and recreating their recipes i never really feel like watching sorted food anymore. But I still cuz I loe you guys. 😝
Mmmm... Chicken pie, my fave! It's like a hug in a pie dish! Just filmed the perfect brownies yesterday, would follow up this dish perfectly! Can't wait to finish editing it now after seeing this ^^
"I have tried one of your pies, and it tastes of utter despair" -Ben. I think Mike made Ben a Gross pie because of giving him testicle. But I do wonder what Ben did with the rest of the pie..and the Bike fandom continues.. (Ben and Mike not a actual Bike)
hey guys! i think you should totally do a sorted twist on a Slovenian dessert. it's a layer cake and it's called ''Prekmurian layer cake'' or as slovenians like to call it ''over Mura moving cake''. it is made out of wallnuts, poppy seeds, apples and cottage cheese. or, another slovenian side dish which can also be a dessert. English language translates it as ''dumplings'' but that's not what they are. we call them '' Štruklji'' and they are like a rolled pastry whith cottage cheese (or other fillings) but boiled in a cloth. it can be an amazing side dish for a beef stue or other gravies, but if you fry some bread crums in butter, pour it over and sprinkle with sugar it is an amazing dessert! i just thought some Slovenian dishes would do you good! hope you try them and stay awesome!
Every time Ben says "succulent" in this video we should all drink a glass of the Ginger Snap Hot Chocolate and then bask in the warm glow of sugary intoxication.
I would've add some colour onto to those vegetables and carcass by roasting them in the same pan you make the stock. It just intensifies the flavour tenfold
The one recommendation my girlfriend did differently was not only covering the entire pastry around the dish she also glazed over a raw egg over the puff pastry for it to come out more golden brown. The oven takes a while.
If there is one dish that I dislike it is Chicken Pot Pie. But then you prepared it... and I kind of wan to try to see if is so good as it seams to be. Thanks guys.
You mentioned making in bulk; do you freeze the finished pies and reheat when needed or do you freeze the mixture and then reheat that and put the pastry on top and cook it? Worried about reheating the chicken mostly.
amazing recipe! Although I would skimp on putting that much cream in the pie filling. There must've been a good amount of residual liquid left in the pot that the combination of the cream and roux didn't make the filling incredibly thick. Thanks for sharing!
Mike is his best helper! He does a great job and he pays attention. The other two distract me.
Jamie and Barry are like those kids in class who never pay attention and always fool around but somehow pass the class
I need to stop having Sorted marathons when I'm trying to diet.....
I feel you
+Kelly Mosby It actually helps me a lot. Try watching the videos when exercising! Great motivator.
or dont diet lol
I thought I was the only one who did that LOL
I'm supposed to be on a low fat diet for health reason but I just went out and get a baked cheesy spinach with macaroni for dinner because SORTED made me crave it.

Omg your job sounds like heaven.. I would love to work at a pub
That puppy look can kill, Mike. Omg. Too cute.
tbh before I subscribed to them I was hesitant to get into the kitchen but now I can't stop making all of the meals they show.
The chances are, we are watching this video because we watch every single video by Sorted.
:D
Yeah mate. I still have a couple years of catching up to do.
I made this tonight for dinner and out of all the pot pies i have made, this was the easiest and yummiest. My husband agrees and he is a foodies himself! I love your shows, keep it up!
OMG, I made this recipe today but made a shortcrust pastry. It was totally amazing. So glad I made the effort. Thanks.
This has to be my favourite recipe to cook of all time. Nothing could be cosier than the smell of the stock cooking away 😋
Great videos guys!
The chicken has been (1) Cooked (2) reheated in the sauce (3) reheated in the oven!
I was always taught only heat cooked food once!

Ooooh this looks perfect! I love making things in big batches and freezing them, perfect for lazy days or study nights!
been waiting on this forever!! thanks guys :D my two favourite boys in the kitchen with chicken pot pie couldn't ask for a better video
This has become a family favourite, thank you.
Those look fabulous! I love using the pressure cooker for chicken stock.
God, I am feeling very hungry watching this!! I need a best friend like Ben who can cook all these delicious food for me!
Do we have to use wine or can we subsitute it for something else? It looks amazing!
I actually love you guys! Every time I think of something new I'd like to cook, you post the recipe for it the next day. Maybe it's a coincidence, maybe you're stalking me, either way, I'm not complaining! :D

This is one of my favorite UA-cam channels
ahhhh, my mouth is watering again.. Thank you for this great show!
No matter how many videos I've watched, I'm still amazed at how Ben can speak...

I love this recipe of yours. I'm going to try and make it as soon as our finals are over.
Actually I'm watching this video because you guys are funny and the food you make looks unbelievably delicious.
This channel has been a boost to my cooking skill :D
When I eat this pie, it makes me so happy that maths doesn't make me want to drop out of school anymore.
Thank you sorted food for keeping me in school .... And for the food!
Could I freeze the filling mixture to use later? I'm trying to find easy home made things I can keep as freezer stock for lazy cooking days. :)
Sure you could! Make more than you need, then you can freeze it in portions for later 👍
SORTEDfood
Great! Thanks. :) Grocery shopping list for today: SORTED.

The thing we did differently is put the crust all around the pot pie. That's how I remember making them. We also used metal tins.
he is so talented .He cooks delicious food
My suggestion made it into a video!! That was exciting. Now to go and watch the video again
A cafe I use to go to just for their chicken pie switched pie brands and I haven't been able to find their old brand anywhere so I have been trying different recipes. This one sounds really creamy and will hopefully be close if not better then the one I've been searching for. 🏅
I made this yesterday IT WAS AMAZING!!!!!!
OMG that looks amazing!!! Bye bye gotta run to the store and get the ingredients!!
You won't get it probably, but I have a tip for you - while making stock, try burning the skin of onion (without shells) before adding it to the stock - it'll make the flavour much better.
Masia Maksymowicz Good tip!
Yeah, my Mum and before her my Grandma used to do it this way ;)
Masia Maksymowicz it really improves the flavour. I also do it ;-)
I love sorted so much! Keep going~ I love you guys~ and your recipes! 💜
Merry Christmas! Feliz Natal!
Ben is so abusive to Mike! Is this how Tyrone and Tyrene have it at home Ben? Hmm... Thinking Child-Line might have some calls soon if you don't get your kids, SORTED. Ben! ;)
omg, comment of the week please? :D
It's the first time that I'm seeing someone not supporting Ben but the others, good job[secretly, I support Ben :) ]
After as much crap as the 3 others give Ben I think he deserves to have a little fun. If anyone he should be more abusive to Jaimie.
If this does not get to comment of the week I will cry! ;_; XD
THIS NEEDS TO BE COMMENT OF THE WEEK OMFG
Amazing recipe, I'll be making it tonight! Here's a thing, boil egg noodles half-way and then add it into the pie to bake... You got yourself a chicken noodle pot pie, yummmmmm.
Looks amazing! definitely going to make this one :) and the tip about the crust melting is good to know (I've had that happen before).
What else can I use instead of wine? >.
Hamda Al Shekaili Just a little extra stock would work, maybe with a little lemon zest for freshness!
OK, SORTED =) شكراً جزيلاً
+Hamda Al Shekaili I know exactly why you asked for something else than wine and you said thank you in arabic
+Liko tko I would like to thank them in my language..;)
Hamda Al Shekaili in my opinion your language is quite unique

BittersweetOrBust i would call that Chicken and Dumplings.
teaching Mike to cook I love it the face XD!
Ben you are an amazing chef!
Thanks for the tip regarding not putting the puff pastry on the hot food. Definitely making this for Thanksgiving!

Made this, awesome recipe was so simple
I really love your recipes and want very much to try them but I cannot have alcohol due to the medications I am on. Is there an alternative t the wine I can use that will still give a good flavor?
Looks like Mike has his hand inside the chicken stock container at 2:09. I was like " what is that step for?!?" :)
As much as i love this channel, i'm starting to realise how i really dont learn much from here. Ben speaks too fast. After watching many other cooking channels on youtube and recreating their recipes i never really feel like watching sorted food anymore. But I still cuz I loe you guys. 😝
aye part of the first 10 but I love all of their videos so much
mmmmm chicken pot pie my three favorite things
The taste of despair...✨👌🏼✨ (that’s definitely the look!)
Made this was so good thanks
thank you for this recipe....Will try it😍
Pimp My Ride: Food Edition (Special Guest Ben Ebbrell)
Mmmm... Chicken pie, my fave! It's like a hug in a pie dish! Just filmed the perfect brownies yesterday, would follow up this dish perfectly! Can't wait to finish editing it now after seeing this ^^
Paused 5 seconds in and Ben has the most spectacular pause face!
This is something I'm DEFINITELY sharing with my Dad he loves chicken pot pie but we always get the frozen ones. I hope he likes it!
I really enjoy eating pot pies, especially in the winter. Yours looks delicious.:)
I SO PREFER these videos over the Food Challenges, these I can relax and actually learn recipes from.
Every thanksgiving my dad makes a great (and kosher) turkey pot pie
Oh wow wow wow that looks SO. GOOD.
Is there anything you can substitute the wine with?
Was thinking the same thing...maybe water or stock?
I'd go with stock and not water
Just use more of the stock.
yeah more stock.
the alcohol in the wine basically disappears during cooking, if that's what's worrying you!
I love you guys! I never miss a posting
Hi, great clip! Can you add mushrooms to the mixture before setting the pie in the oven? thanks!
Mike is so adorable lol he looks like a lost puppy half the time
I love that look on Mike's face every time you tell him what a terrible cook he is lol
"I have tried one of your pies, and it tastes of utter despair" -Ben. I think Mike made Ben a Gross pie because of giving him testicle. But I do wonder what Ben did with the rest of the pie..and the Bike fandom continues.. (Ben and Mike not a actual Bike)

It looks really delicious! Please make tiramisu tart!

This really is the ultimate pot pie recipe!
omg that looks divine...I might attempt this with my partner one of these days.
looks great! I may add other veggies like mushrooms and peas!
It's weird hearing the boys say velouté without it being a velooooooutééé, how times changed eh
Regarding the Chicken stock, what can be used in place of the onion and the peppercorns for those of us with GERD?
The one recommendation my girlfriend did differently was not only covering the entire pastry around the dish she also glazed over a raw egg over the puff pastry for it to come out more golden brown. The oven takes a while.
If there is one dish that I dislike it is Chicken Pot Pie. But then you prepared it... and I kind of wan to try to see if is so good as it seams to be. Thanks guys.
Mike's sad face makes me want to hug him omg
Do a "What's in my fridge" video. I dont know, that idea just instantly popped in my head :) Make it creative tho~
Do you have Anything as a substitute for the white wine :)
I made this... Its awesome!!!
you are supper....smart!!thank you so much!
You mentioned making in bulk; do you freeze the finished pies and reheat when needed or do you freeze the mixture and then reheat that and put the pastry on top and cook it? Worried about reheating the chicken mostly.
+Colin Moore I would reheat the mix, then add the puff and put it in the oven! Just make sure it's hot all the way through.
amazing recipe! Although I would skimp on putting that much cream in the pie filling. There must've been a good amount of residual liquid left in the pot that the combination of the cream and roux didn't make the filling incredibly thick. Thanks for sharing!
Y'know, when I hear someone say "[...]a beautiful body", pie filling isn't what comes to mind. But to each their own, of course.
I try this its so yummmy
I love watching Sorted when I have the munchies 😌
Would it be possible make this with a bottom crust as well?
I want this now
