Getting out on the road is what Linda and I love to do with our converted cargo trailer camper. We're part time nomads and the nomadic lifestyle suits us to a Tee. Whether your RV is a camper van, camp trailer, travel trailer, motorhome or just a car and a tent, there's going to be something interesting for you in the videos we produce. Back roads and overlanding are part of what we do while exploring the western states for beautiful, peaceful and sometimes remote places to camp on BLM and National Forest land (public land). Taking care of ourselves as much as possible and doing our own repairs is a must because we travel on a fixed income and a limited budget. If your into being off-grid and boondocking, or doing dispersed camping whenever possible then you'll appreciate the discussions on batteries, solar panels and solar chargers or power stations and 12v refrigeration. Come on along, we're happy to have your company!

Here's a photo I found online of the petroglyph I referred to as "Atlatls": bluffutah.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/Spears-New.jpg
Looks like the "artist" picturing the stages of rocket ships. First big stage, second smaller stage and third stage out of sight.
Wow !
Thanks again... .t
So if you are there at night does that mean... "0n a dark desert highway Cool Wind in my hair"
Exactly!
"Warm smell of colitas, rising up through the air"
You can check-out any time you like,
But you can never leave! "
Where the clouds are pink and the air does not stink.
Does this mean there’s a “Hotel Utah?!”
Just love you two people's adventures! That's my kind of traveling! Exploring. watching you build stuff, fixing up your trailer, driving where you do - taking chances - I would go with you two anywhere and feel totally comfortable! You are definately 'self reliant' and trustworthy. I realize 'things' could happen but I would feel confident you would always figure it out! I especially loved the part where you were driving the road into "Valley of the Gods".....the scenery, the music....it was SO beautiful. Thanks for taking us along.
Hello Susan, we hope that by sharing our travels we encourage others to get out and at the same time to be more prepared when they do. Thanks for watching!
What better reason to explore than to pursue beauty thanks for sharing
Well done. So enjoy the time you generously share with us. Such beauty is just around the next bend. Thank you for bringing us along.
I so much enjoy your videos because you focus on the fascinating features of the environment. Your videos are a reminder of why I love the west and it's amazing terrain. Your low key presentation is informative and expresses your genuine enthusiasm for exploration. Happy travels to you both!
Wow, thank you, Jane!
So much Beauty there is to be seen, definitely God's country!!! thank you for taking us on this Journey❤ great video😊👍👍
Your scenic segments with music in some of your videos are really good. I enjoy just watching and listening to them.
Thanks Gary, we appreciate that.
Absolutely outstanding........as usual!!!!!!!
Thanks Drill Sergeant!
The wife and I love your videos. Always great info.
Thanks Frank!
I loved my wife so dearly that I picked a prickly pear flower for her……. It picked me too! LOL
Hi Bill, Isn't it amazing how such a delicate flower grows on such a nasty plant?
The white flowers are Datura, called "night shade"theyy are poisinous, but the ancient people used them in ceremonies.
Oh! Thanks for that info.
Relax said the Mad Man we're programmed to receive. That's an awesome looking area.
It was beautiful! We need to go back and go down another road in that same area.
Thank you for the great temptation. Just the best idea and well presented!
Thank You! Beautiful.
Think that old paved road was the way to Radiator Springs maybe? Great video, I love seeing the two of you exploring the back country.
Thanks for enabling me to travel the desert while I eat my breakfast. A damp rolled up bandanna around the neck really helps keep you cooler.
And I always have one with me, but I never think to do that!
That is a harsh environment that those early inhabitants chose to live in. Survival was finding something to eat each and every day. Those people were absolutely amazing!
The surface artifacts that are found in the southwest go back at least 10,000 years to the days of the wooley mammoth. At least in the more recent times, like a thousand years ago, they were farmers in that hot dry area. Amazing.
I want this retirement....thanks for sharing.
Thanks for exploring the canyon, a great little spot. ❤
It sure is!
Beautiful place thank you for the video
Gosh you guys find the best places ever ! Love everything you are filming! Well done 👍 🥰
Thanks so much! 😊
So Nice to watch Your vids.
Thanks.
Beautiful desert.
Great shots Rick! Safe travels Aloha!
Thanks Perry!
Beautiful ♥️ landscape 🌞 nice 👍 vlog watching fr jamaica 😎🌅🏖️
Thank you for watching all the way from Jamaica!
As long as it cools down fairly early at night that is all you need.
Another beautiful location with lots of history that I might never had seen except for your videos. Thanks and keep traveling.
Nice, thanks for all you guys do!
We thank you for watching!
_What a great way to start my first week of retirement with Gonagain, coffee, and cheese, and jalapeño quesadillas. Just tying up some important stuff DMV, medical cards, and things. Before going on my trip with my cargo trailer, the HillyBilly Hillton. Hopefully, we can meet up, and I can introduce myself and have a beer with you two, a German bier like Hefe Weissbier. About another week before I can take off._
I'd enjoy that very much! Congratulations on your retirement and escape!
@@gonagain thanks, and it would be a pleasure too!
Cute tag name - HillyBilly Hillton. 🤠
@@lindagolden9892 thanks!
Congratulations on your retirement!
Life is good... Enjoy each other...
The road to Lake Powell you were talking about is not for the faint hearted. Wash board dirt, switchbacks galore and no garden rail. It goes up a wall. Butiful views, can see forever. Enjoy.
Thanks for the warning.
Thank you.
Thank you for the info, you always have some interesting facts
I really enjoy your videos and the information.
Glad you like them! Thanks for coming along, Brenda.
Good stuff, You & Linda be well out there!
Thank you, john!
Love your videos
Thanks for watching!
Another great video! Jan and I have traveled that area and always find something we need to return and explore more in depth.
Thanks for taking us with you on your adventures! ❤️
Be aware and God bless you both...
Thank you, John.
I believe that the petroglyph at (3:03) was done at or about 1063 BCE. Someone afterwards destroyed it by by adding the / to the bottom right side of the O. It's incredible that the person whom scratched in the original "1063" had the foresight that we would go to a BC-AD system in distant future. Not to worry-5 hundred years from now people will see it "1963" and say wow that petroglyph is over 5 hundred years old and like it just the same.
I heard that said about aluminum pull tabs, lol! Someday they will be a collector's item.
👍👍
Comb ridge where all locals go hiking beautiful place and many more petroglyphs right next to you
We'll be back down there and will check that out. Thanks!
Hi Rick and Linda, I was in Mexican Hat May 31- June 3 of this year. I must say the RV Park there is the arm pit on the South West. LOL I did film a lot when I was there. Yes it was 100 while I was there. Don
Stayed there once at the RV park and the only thing that was memorable was the heavy rain we got at that time. All the washes came alive!
Out there where you are at. A lot of old westerns where made.👍
I grew up watching those and that's part of what fueled my wonderlust.
@@gonagain ........ My quarter allowance paid admission to theater, box of popcorn and coke. I watched a raffle for a free bike but never won. It was fun watching the stagecoaches run by the same place three or more times. But nobody cared. They were being chased by indians or bad guys. Our little theater was about 500 seats and everyone had a screaming kid on Saturday morning.
Hi guys! I’m sure the terrain was a little different a thousand years ago or so. Therefore, I’m wondering if the older petroglyphs might be at the higher elevation.
Most likely, especially in this location.
Just went through there this past Wednesday and stayed the night at Goosenecks State park . Maybe we'll go back in the fall and stop by Sand Island campground. Thanks for the video.
There were a lot of campsites there, but it's also popular with the rafters.
Thanks
Thanks for watching, Glen.
Yup, Another Cool Episode. They keep on coming and you are delivering some Super Groovy Places. I Knew I made the 'Right Choice' some 33-34 years ago to move & live in Utah. The Diversity is Unreal. I came for the Best Snow, and then wind up a Desert Dweller. Rick, you Sure do it Good. All the surrounding states are just Perfect Aswell, making for the 'Best in the West' for Exploring and Spiritual Diversity. You and Linda have the Calm & Coolest attitude of anyone On-the-Quest for Adventure. NICE. btw, your Theme Music is Tops. Have Always wanted to say that. Is it Hawaii an in origin??? Be Safe & Hope to see you all in the Near Future ✌🌝
Hello Vincenzo, I got that theme music from some Windows freeware a long time ago and it stuck. Utah it's a special place and we never can get enough of it. We're currently doing something different, travel wise, and we hope it works out so we get some interesting videos for you. I guess we'll see!
@@gonagain Well Rick, I know whatever you and Linda do Will be Groovy. But Please don't go-off to Mexico or Canada, because we'll All Think you Abandoned us all. Just Kidding of course, but Never Forget you are a Desert-Trekker at Heart 🌝 Don't go Too Far off the Unwritten Script, we would Miss you if you got Lost ✌🌝🤓
North Rim and Hogs Back next year!
I'm sorry I started watching this yesterday but had to shut down for the storms but I'm back again to finish. I love checking out places like this but I just can't do it any more. I think it's Beautiful there.
I wish you could still travel Den. We have so many fires where I live that we could use some heavy rain.
@@gonagain I thought I replied back to this last night I'm not sure why it isn't here. I still have trouble doing this on my phone but one day I'll get it figured out I hope. If you want rain you should see my last video I posted. We got over 7 inches in about an hour and the power was out again and raining to hard to start the Generator but again I had my 2 Bluetti's to hold me over until the rain let off. I can Travel just not as far in a day as I use to go. I can't do all the walking I want to do but I can still enjoy seeing what's close by.
Thank you so much for sharing that, I missed what state it was in though. So glad you and Linda are prepared in case of emergency. You folks are helping us "homebound " folks see the U S., thank you
Hello Hannah and thank you for watching another of our videos! That is south, central Utah, almost to Arizona.
Great video. But I LOVED where she pointed to the metal heap and said "this is the guy that didnt make it." Perfect fit for the roads end.
Thanks for taking us along.
Man, you sure go to some way out there places, but if I were there I would do that also. It is always better when you have it to yourself. Nothing like having room to breathe. Did you notice the spiral petroglyph, that is a portal to who knows where. My friend got pictures of one opening up in Colorado on the horizon near some petroglyphs. I would send you the pictures if I knew where to send them to. Take care my friend and stay cool.
Hello WR, we'd like to see them and you can send them here: gonagain21@gmail.com
That's a good take on the spiral design, which we see in a lot of different places.
Like your all's travels Jim and Linda.
I'm sure they had ladder technology back then to do those high picto's. : - )
Yes, they must have used ladders. In some other places you can see where the rock has fallen, but not here.
thats Datura, or moonflower and yes they are poison and a hi power hallucinogen
Beautiful places but I would go in the cooler months...but you are not an "idiot" as you jokingly said for camping now because its so peaceful offseason!
Yeah, we were pushing it and headed for cooler elevations right after that.
if flowers are them they close at about 5 pm
Well Rick and Linda you did it again another great scenic video. Thanks for sharing it. I love Utah it is amazing.
Thanks John!
Thanks MUCH for another great place, share and Video! All the BEST to both of you and family! Cheers :)
Beautiful!👍🏻
Beautiful area.Thanks for sharing.
I wonder if those rocks with Spnge Bob, is a Geocache site??
I was wondering if this was faily current...I'd like to try that area in the Fall/Spring.
That last scene reminded me of being a kid, the little towns we would build for playing with Hot Wheels.
This was videoed in June, 2021.
Oh no, did you really straddle that double yellow line? We may have to organize bail for you and Linda so you can make another excellent video!
We did and were hoping no one would notice. We just like living in the edge is all.
Great vlog. Regards from U.K. AJ
Another well done video. Thank you both for your time and energy. RE: 15:24 "All of these rock formations have names. The first one on the right there is Lady in a Bathtub or some thing like that". I think the next one on the left should be called "Man in a Bathtub"... I know, sick mind...
That's as good a name as any David.
My regular route in spring and fall shoulder seasons....not so much from memorial day to labor day!
I bet you could see more petroglyphs if you stood on Linda's shoulders.
I'll tell her your suggestion Jim, sounds good to me.
Thanks for the timely upload on this area. I’m getting ready to head there myself. Won’t be towing this trip, just comfortable in less space using my Hybrid RAV4 that I’ve converted with a full sized bed and 2000 watt inverter (I mentioned this earlier). This upload was so well filmed & edited! Your others are, too, but this just seemed even better.
I remember you telling me about your hybrid. I hope you have a great trip, Doug.
@@gonagain thank you, me too. I would call it a success if I find the peace & beauty that you two convey in your vlog.
Such good video's ... was wondering if there are Lions out in those parts?
That's a good question, but I would think so.
That "Angel Trumpet" is the legendary Old West's "Loco Weed". It's real name is Jimsonweed (Datura stramonium) and is also known by other names: Jamison-weed, Jamestown-weed, Jamestown lily, thorn-apple, stink-wort, stinkweed, mad-apple, trumpet plant, loco weed, angel’s trumpet, devil’s, fireweed, etc. and yes it is poisonous to humans at least, In the olden times whenever a horse would eat it, the horse was destroyed because he would become addicted and would not want to do anything. He would travel for miles looking for it. In 1995 in El Paso, Texas two high school boys made up a "brew" of boiled Jimsomweed root and mixed it with liquor and both died.
Thanks for the information, Linda.
Hopefully by next year I'll get to come out west !😊🌴🍊🐊
I hope so because you'll like it I'm sure.
Yes sir ! Waiting for peace & tranquility 😊🌴🍊🐊
Seriously love you hat. Where can I get one for my far head? 7 7/8
Like your channel a lot.
Hello Ron, you can get one here: Henschel Crushable Soft Mesh Aussie Breezer Hat : amzn.to/2nRAO4R
The land was much higher back then some areas were cleared for roads some erosion
Another great video with a lot of good scenery! Thank you.
What software do you use for editing your videos?
I use the free version of DaVinci Resolve.
@@gonagain
Thank you sir!
A group of us drove 1.5 hours found thousands of petroglyph great day hardly any one knows its there
Wow, what a find. Don't give out the location, I hope you took pictures tho.
❣️✌️✌️❣️
Wished you’d have zoomed in with your camera on those petroglyphs as I find them quite intriguing. Look closely along those
flat rocky areas as you might happen upon dinosaur footprints. 🪶
Hello Linda, I found this: www.alltrails.com/trail/us/utah/sand-island-petroglyphs/photos
Also this, that I referred to as "Atlatls": bluffutah.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/Spears-New.jpg
Thank you. I didn’t realize you were responding as I was updating my comment. Have you thought to look closely upon those flat rocky areas as you might happen upon dinosaur footprints. 🦖
Hello Rick and Linda, thank you for sharing..! Do you use your home-made water filter system to process the water before you use it..?? I thought that video was really good...! BTW, although it appears your set-up is on bare rock (I notice piles of large rocks in the foreground impression at 13:50) , which has it's own challenges. When on desert ground, do you prep in and around your camp-site area by raking away any smaller rocks and/or debris for a more comfort under foot..??
Hello PJF! We never do prep a site except for picking up any trash we happen to see. The water filter we take along on our trips is the Sawyer filter with the one gallon bag because it fold up so small. We've never actually used it yet because we manage to get water from reliable sources. The filter we do use frequently is the carbon RV filter that removes bad taste because so many places have bad tasting water! That's the filter you can buy at Walmart that attaches to a hose. You'll find it in their RV section.
Miss Your BP vids.
The one where You showed us how to bump The bullet with a Rod for exact measurements has helped me a lot.
Thank You, is The BP stuff Still available somewhere?
Your's, Stan
Hi Stan, I had to move those videos over to Rumble to avoid having them taken down. You'll find them here: www.rumble.com/user/gonagain
@@gonagain Thank You, friend.
Is camping allowed at the end of that "paved" road? Looks like a great place to stay for a while.
Yes, it is Kepa, have at it!
@@gonagain I am really enjoying the videos where you explore deep into BLM land. Gives me ideas for my next road trip to the lower 48. Mahalo!
Better watch for rattlesnakes.
First!
And you were!
What happened , you were in a paid campground, then all of a sudden you're off the old paved road ?
We very seldom stay in a pay campground and prefer boondocking. It's usually peaceful.
@@gonagain
Cheaper too.
Don't put word old out there, just saying. we are with you or not far behind.
My body is a lot older than my mind, that's for sure.
I imagine they just built ladders to do those petroglyphs, maybe up high to be seen from far off or they had the foresight to know what vandals the white man would become..lol.
It must be, because we find them up high like that a lot.
No trees, no ladders….
