Linda, mahalo, we wish you a speedy and complete recovery. My wife broke something about every 5 years. Her motto was, if I ain’t cryin I ain’t tryin. She’s 76 now and we love our e bikes. I hope you are up and about soon. Aloha
Boy, if I had a product I wanted reviewed, you'd be first choice. Honest, knowledgeable, and thorough. Excellent as always. Hope you're almost healed Linda!
Very nice review, and thanks for sharing the hill climb portion as it shows the 52 volts is not a marketing gimmick. With current gas prices this bike is a great value for around town errands and the theft alarm is the first I be seen on an ebike great idea!
Thanks for freezing to give us a review Rick! I’ve wanted every bike you have reviewed but I seriously want this one and I’m going to have it by warm weather! Hope Linda is doing well, haven’t heard too much about her lately. Live well friend!
I’ve lost track of all the e bikes you have reviewed. I guess I will go back and review others if I ever decide to ever buy one ! For now I will stick with my standard bicycle as long as I can . You do a good review! Thanks for sharing Rick .
Your welcome, Ralph. When the time comes for you to upgrade to an ebike, choose the frame style you like best and go from there. I try really hard to review the bikes that I think are the best value and quality.
Hi There! Great video, as usual! My ears perked up when I heard you say nanometers as the unit of torque. In metric, I believe the units are Newton-Meters (force times distance, just like foot-pounds). Best wishes for the continuing recovery of your spouse, Linda, you two make a great team, for sure. -Mike
@@gonagain That's great to hear, Rick The comments on this video have been a blast to read. I agree with one of the poster's comments about the donut shop. Each time you swing it seems to be closed. Kind of a Charlie Brown situation. It's a running gag in your e-bike series.
I ordered one yesterday, their customer service is really nice! hope to enjoy the outside riding life with my wife. Thank you MAGICYCLE! and thank you Gonagain !
They must have listened to you, they now come with hydraulic disc brakes and the range is now 60-80 miles. This looks like a great off road bike, thank you for the review.
I upgraded to the hydraulic brakes on my Cruiser and they are better. The mechanical brakes will stop you just about as well, but it takes half the pressure on the lever to stop with the hydraulics.
I am really enjoying your e-bike reviews. I bought a Speeedrid 20" folding bike w/ 4" tires in September of last year and have enjoyed learning how to ride and maintain the bike. I recently bought an attachable bike trailer to haul my gear in and it works great on paved bike paths, but on the terrain that you are in it would be difficult to use the trailer. Great review, I hope Linda is doing well and will be back out soon.
I have a Lectric 2.0 , Hospital Hill is our test place. I can just make it in pas 5 in 1st gear, but only at 5mph. If someone wants to know how their bike's gonna work on bad roads, bad weather, and wind. You the man!
I just got my magicycle today. I got manual, white gloves and a little back pack. Did my maiden trip. About ten miles. Had a blast. Just level roads had 77% battery left. I really enjoyed the bike
We have been researching e bikes the past two months, this bike really seems to stand out in the crowd. Your review has helped us make our decision! We are buying our Majicycle's today! Thanks for an informative review!!! God bless
Nicely done Rick! Really enjoy your honest straight style and boy is nice to see a little more of your beautiful State...all the best to you and the crew ie Linda 👋 and continued safe travels...just waiting for my ebike to finish charging up then out I go...🚴♂️👋🇨🇦
I've been thinking about mentioning the need to have two batteries, especially if a person is recharging from solar and needs to have use of their ebike on a daily basis.
@@gonagain .been thinking the same thing Rick. Given the current gas price and with no real end insight , might be well advised to pick up an extra battery and or set up a permanent solar station at home., if only to off set dramatic in crease of everything. However, as I'm sure you would agree all small potatoes given the hellish situation over seas. However, every little bit does make a difference I really believe affordable ebikes will make a real difference for so many, your on the right track Rick you got a voice stay at it 👍 and for now more prayers needed and perhaps the elimination of a certain someone.
Wow. It really has all the bells and whistles. That power uphill is very impressive. Hopefully that coffee warmed you up because it looked bitterly cold there
You sure do a excellent review my friend, that has to be the Cadillac of bikes, who ever thought that one out had his plans well in order, you know what is next. Make you a trailer for the bike. Throw in a few extra batteries and supplies and off on a road trip. Take care.
I bought my white step thru during the holidays (on sale). I watched multiple reviews on this bike b4 I bought it. If your review was done back in December...I would have only watched one...and it would have been yours sir :) Excellent work. Awesome bike.
I have been watching your reviews on ebikes and I have finally decided to purchase this one because of your review. You do a fantastic job thank you very much. Best wishes to you and Linda.
Thank you for the real outback review! I live in Teton Valley, Idaho and I will have the chance to ride in a lot of similar terrain to you. So this was great to see. I awaiting the delivery of my Magicycle now. Mine got hung up in UPS for some reason, so Joe at Magicycle told me they will reship immediately and try to figure out what happened at UPS.
I keep hearing that their customer service is pretty good. Glad to hear that they are getting it figured out for you. You're going to really like the bike.
I also love the very real use and test of the magicycle. Too many reviewers are simply doing acceleration tests and TopSpeed tests, etc. This is great to see a real review on terrain that many of us will be using these bikes. Many reviewers seem to be focused on Motörhead type reviews for people that are really looking for an electric motorcycle!
It does look like it compares to a Hemingway I was very impressed with the video we are looking into purchasing an E bike and I’ve been watching your reviews thank you
Thank you again Rick, for another great review. I don't see myself as an Ebike user but if the urge ever struck it looks like this would be the one to go with. I appreciate your time and energy (getting out there in the cold and all...oh man!). I hope Linda's recovering satisfactorily and best wishes to you both!
Very interesting ebike review. This is the best looking bike that you have tested so far. I went to the Magicycle website from your link and I am pretty impressed with Magicycle overall. Seriously considering purchasing this bike and if I do I will definitely use your promo code. Thanks for the review.
You sure do your homework on these bikes. I only wish e-trikes were as affordable! I trust your dear wife is coming along well with her rehabilitation. Thanks! (BTW it’s probably Newton meter Nm)
One of your brake cable housing ends is not fully seated! If it pops into place, you'll have reduced braking until readjusted. Be careful on those icy wooden bridges! I'd coast across them, rather than pedal... Great review! Now get some hot coffee! :)
Lol! You're like me and the thought of parting with one of my ebikes is too much to bare. This is my personal favorite and it could be a do-all bike. I especially like the company for it's reputation of good customer service and, because of that, I don't mind recommending it.
Excellent review I was feeling a little sceptical because the price seems quite reasonable and I wasn't familiar with the brand . I think you covered all the bases. Very nice thank you.
I really like this one! It wont work for the spouse (she is 4’11”) but this is what I have been waiting for! I have bad knees and really need a bike that can help me with the climbing - very impressed! Thanks for the thorough review.
Good review. Since this video, Magicycle has improved this bike (now has hydraulic brakes)and came out with two new models. The new "Pride of the fleet" is the 750 watt "Ocelot Pro" a very powerful 20" tire step thru bike with a BIG battery. It's a beauty and the best bike on the market (at this time) in my opinion.
You seem to know alot about the magicycle line. Question: I have a bad back. With some tweaks, could I adjust the Cruiser to ride like a moped without all that hunching over? What do you think?
Folks that haven't ridden an ebike yet don't realize that you can go farther, faster and still get as much exercise as you want to, making them a great commuter bike. I really like my Magicycle and will be featuring it in upcoming videos.
Most people that rushed out to buy a Magicycle didn't know Ariel Rider was putting out the Kepler a few months later.. But nice bike anyway.. Some nice features and extras. Now the updated Magicycle is $300 more but still 750 watt motor. Maybe you can test a Kepler there on that hill one day..👍 Good job. Is nano meters and Newton meters the same? I'm sure you have seen the Kepler tested and it's speeds by most vloggers that have had one.
Another good revue Gonagain, if I didn't already have an e-bike this model you evaluated would definitely have my consideration. Also would like to comment on the great trail system you were riding on. Hope to see more of it, in warmer weather.
The main issue/critic reviewers had was the brakes and how dangerously long they took to come to a complete stop. Magicbike took these critics and actually upgraded the brakes… you love to see it The brakes you’ve got are the new upgraded brakes, before it’d take 20+ feet to come to a complete stop
That's true, these are the upgraded model and I have no complaints. Magicycle does make a hydraulic brake kit (currently out of stock) that you can upgrade to if you like. I actually don't see the need, but I may do the upgrade just for comparison sake.
Thanks for another honest review. Company sending the bike fully assembled is great. Too many other bikes require owner to fidget with things and then wonder if they assembled correctly, or design issues, or part may not be of quality. Price very reasonable. Maybe time to sell the small dual sport motorcycle. E bikes are about equal for getting out to remote fishing holes. Usually not far by miles, just bad uphill roads.
I noticed a potential problem on the front brake. The cable ferrule is not seated all the way in the adjuster barrel. You may need to seat it further, and then readjust the cable tighter.
@@gonagain You're welcome. We can't have you getting hurt and bedridden too! Me and my girlfriend really like you guys, and wish Linda a speedy recovery! I just retired at age 60, and we will be moving into an rv at the end of May. I already am a serious mountain biker, and my girlfriend really wants an e-bike. So we might get a couple, although I will have to have a hard core full suspension model. We love the places you travel to! I'm originally from Oregon, and my parents loved eastern Oregon, and we spent a lot of time in the high desert looking for artifacts, so your trips remind me of what we used to do when we camped. You guys are closer to my age, but remind me of my parents a lot. Maybe because they loved exploring the high desert, and the ancient history there, and because like Linda my mom was a little 5 foot tall firecracker packing her .38 revolver. We hope you are both out exploring again soon. Take care.
Rick, I'm loving your ebike reviews! I find myself really interested in this one. And I hate to bother you, but I don't remember if you mentioned what needs put together when it arrives. You've done that on some of your other reviews. I also don't see it on the Magicycle webpage. I am definitely not handy! Kanpai to you and Linda! 🙂
I guess I should have done an "Unboxing and assembly", but I get so many complaints when I do because of it being "Too boring". The assembly is really pretty easy and takes about 45 minutes with the tools that are supplied. You have to attach the handlebars, then put on the front wheel, front fender and headlight and that's about it. The hardest part is cutting up the big box it came in so that you can throw it in the dumpster! There are a lot of videos on exactly what to do, and most of these bikes go together about the same way. I did show in the video how to adjust the rear derailleur and the brakes because you'll need to either do that yourself or have that done at a bike shop. Let me know if I can help.
Thanks for the review, you do a good job! Looking for my first e.bike now (long time cyclist) so this is fun research. I see Magicycle is coming out with the Ocelot, which sports 20” tires, a 92 n/m motor, and a 52V 20 amp/hr battery. This company seems to be a good one.
still not sure, my balance is off a little and for sure not going to get better. How about a tricycle, big tires, for off road? thank you good test drive stay safe ALL
That's the same problem that Linda has and is the reason that she broke her ankle trying to ride. A tricycle won't make it out on the narrow trails, but it will probably still be a whole lot of fun.
The $1589.00 price is for the "white" step-through Magicycle , which is currently marked down from $1799.00. Your price with the "Gonagain' discount is $1489.00. The Midnight Blue step-through is not on sale but is $1699.00 with the "Gonagain" $100 discount. The Midnight Blue High Bar model is $1489.00 with the discount.
500 thumb-up contributor here. Any bonus?Just kidding. Thanks for your honest and excellent review. Honestly speaking, their 5 star I would say customer service beats any other e-bike brand down.
You can't go wrong with this Magicycles and their customer service is good too. Linda is doing great and even started cooking again. Although that might be because she's tired of what I've been making.
Torque is generally measured in Newton-metres (or meters for you guys) not nano-metres. A nanometer is a measurement mainly of wavelength. That’s one heck of a bike Rick, just over 1hp motor, 87Nm of torque equates to about 64ftlbs, that’s pretty efficient. Very nice looking little package. Still not big enough for me though, 😂😂, 6’6” & 130kgs, 😲😲 Cheers bud.
None at all Rick, very sad. Currently down with covid, expect to receive the all clear on Friday, happy to be alive. My Cardy freaked out, my local doc dobbed me in. Cardy told me I should've gone immediately to hospital as some of the drugs she has me on apparently diminish my immune system. My next visit down there will be a doozy, 😂, she might be small in statue, but boy oh boy, she isn't one to mess with, 😂. So with me, that's 6/8 in the household through the mill & we have been isolated now for basically months. Coming good though, don't want to put any pressure on, but hopefully back to normal next week. When I'm running on all cylinders (or full battery) next week so I'll be doing more to get the range opened up and operating again. Cheers my friend, all the best to Linda, stay safe.
thanks so much for the review ~ we're thinking about buying an e-bike, and this might just be the one for us. also, wondering how linda's doing. it's been several weeks now, and hopefully she's just about healed. how's it going for her? are you guys about ready for another adventure? salt lake is due for another storm today and tomorrow, but springtime is just around the corner and i can't wait to get out for a camping trip. our little 6x12 is finished and ready to roll ~ hopefully, south. happy trails to you and linda!

Take care.
I think the unit of measure you were looking for was Newton-Meters of torque.
I think you're right, but I keep hearing it both ways! I'll switch to Newton-Meters.
@@gonagain yes sorry about Linda! having limited mobility, yet still have the desire, is killing me
The $1589.00 price is for the "white" step-through Magicycle , which is currently marked down from $1799.00.
I like to hear that about their customer service, because that makes a big difference!
Measure of torque is expresssed in NEWTON meters not nano meters. But nice review. Im considering it.
Thank you for this education.
Thanks for watching, Stephanie! Appreciate the comment.
Love your video and ebike
You mean the price is reasonable in the U.S I take it. In Canada it is not affordable. Good review.
Great video how is Linda? You may have to put snow chains on it
Linda is doing fine and is learning to get around. It's currently snowing here again!
OK! Mr. Rick, which of the three is the *** BEST BUY *** ???
Don't count Linda's !!! OUCH! How is she doing? Cajun
You can't go wrong with this Magicycles and their customer service is good too. Linda is doing great and even started cooking again. Although that might be because she's tired of what I've been making.
@@gonagain God Bless her! Thanks, y'all take care! :-))) Cajun
Great Review 👍
nice review, fun and those knees should be getting healthier
Torque is generally measured in Newton-metres (or meters for you guys) not nano-metres. A nanometer is a measurement mainly of wavelength.
That’s one heck of a bike Rick, just over 1hp motor, 87Nm of torque equates to about 64ftlbs, that’s pretty efficient.
Very nice looking little package.
Still not big enough for me though, 😂😂, 6’6” & 130kgs, 😲😲
Cheers bud.
Thanks, Pilot! Yes, that's a lot to have on an ebike. Done any boomstick activity lately?
@@PilotMcbride Wishing you a good recovery, Pilot.
@@gonagainThank you my friend, appreciated.
thanks so much for the review ~ we're thinking about buying an e-bike, and this might just be the one for us. also, wondering how linda's doing. it's been several weeks now, and hopefully she's just about healed. how's it going for her? are you guys about ready for another adventure? salt lake is due for another storm today and tomorrow, but springtime is just around the corner and i can't wait to get out for a camping trip. our little 6x12 is finished and ready to roll ~ hopefully, south. happy trails to you and linda!
Hello Jan! Linda is doing great with the cast off and is learning to move around again. We hope to get out again soon.
