      Same in the Mk1.... good for leaving the car with the t-bar open (not recommended, lol), means your stuff in the trunk remains safe.

      I recently fretted over what, I thought, was a broken trunk release for two full weeks. Just before I ordered the parts I thought I’d get back there and try to wriggle it. Turns out it was just fine, I just didn’t know how to work it!
      Glad I never ordered the parts because I would only use OEM parts on stuff like that and there’s no telling how much Toyota would charge for that shit (If they could even get them anymore)

      It's a beauty! I'd keep it the way it is! I never tinted my windows on my 95 turbo and never will! Probably should in Florida, but its garage kept! Enjoy Ryan!

    Thank you. Good info. A unique car unequalled today. Every so often meet an ex owner who regrets selling their MR2. Have heard the MR2 is from Toyota's "golden age."

    Nice one Bob. I remember having 2 keys for my MK1. Only one of them was able to unlock the trunk, glove box. Perfect for valet parking etc. I believe the tip of the key was different.

      Do you intend to leave it stock(ish)? From my two decades of experience with 1st-4th Gen 3S-GTE’s in dozens of cars of mine, friend’s and customer’s, I find the 3rd Gen to be the best stock(ish) engine as we’ve been able to pull ~340WHP pretty consistently on our ST-205 WRC swaps into Celicas and standard 3rd Gen swaps into MR2’s almost always net ~320WHP (all Mustang Dyno results).
      However, the reason why I ask is, we’ve found the 2nd gen engines to be the best platform for built engines making 375WHP+. We avoid the 4th and 5th gen engines as they tend to be more trashed for some reason and the bottom ends are considerably weaker. The electronics are so much nicer but, if going to standalone, the playing field gets leveled and you’re back to a weak bottom end issues.
      I hope this helps and good luck with your swap!

    Lol I remember when I got my original 95 turbo and moved the rear trunk all the way to the left and my key which I also found out later it was for valet mode, but my key wouldn't take it out of valet mode. I had to get some graphite powder / lubricant in the lock and some wiggling to get the key to finally get it out of valet mode!

    Do the T-top handles also have a key lock? I've pulled a 1991 JDM import out of a storage unit and the T-top switch/handles aren't budging. I'm wondering if it's either locked (no keys sadly), or if it's seized shut...

    Thank you for the video! Have a question though, I'm a college student so I was considering a civic si because they're practical and pretty good on gas, but I also kinda want rear wheel drive. Is your MR2 good for daily and is the interior and trunk space usable? trying to see which car would work better for me. Thanks!

      @黒キツネ-九零二一零 4 роки тому +1

      He's not gonna answer so I will. It's the biggest and more spacious of the 3. Im also looking for a 2 seater instead of a bs civic. Beware: cars with mr layouts are known for snap oversteer. Incase you want to hoon it somewhere, make sure it's in a parking lot, or else when that back swings out, you'll either crash into a tree, car, or house. Also, the most reliable out of the 3 is the 3rd gen, but with less space.

  • @negativeindustrial

    Does anyone know what I should expect to pay for a turbo engine lid? I bought a clip and I’ve swapped my USDM N/A to Turbo, however, I got an extremely good deal on my clip because it came with LSD E153, Turbo axles, hubs and brakes, full set of authentic GReddy performance bolt-ons (Intake, Intercooler, IC Fan, IC pipes, BOV, ATS TB inlet, complete GReddy exhaust with authentic Aussie DP), but, sadly, no body parts - that’s why I only paid $1k total. Is it even worth worrying about for cooling? My ST-205, with the same engine, has holes EVERYWHERE in the hood and bumper for cooling so that’s why I assume we need to upgrade airflow into the engine bay in every way we possibly can. That being said, I prefer the appearance of the N/A lid to the turbo one and I rarely add aftermarket body parts - just not into that at all if I can help it.
    Any advice/help would be greatly appreciated - thank you!

      Like less than 500, you can find fiberglass or carbon deck lids on camposties and try mr2 heaven.

      Damn! I found one for $275 in the correct color but I thought the guy was trying rip me off. I, honestly, figured with all the clips that have been imported, there would be a surplus and no demand so they’d be $100 like any basic used body panel.
