@@CanadianGearheadI have MK2 rev 1 tbar GTi. Mine has all the original extras like leather document wallet, MR2 maps wallet, MR2 owners manual in leather wallet, service history in leather wallet... Service bag with jack , nuts and bolts , fuse changers etc , the original leather and felt roof panel slips that u slide roof panels in and.strap behind seats, I have a hidden safe under.drivers seat with original key..MR2 members club window decos and logs etc. it's not been started in 8yrs tho and is covered in dust as sits in my garage. It's red and immaculate sheen. Few patches here and there only penny sized. Looks beautiful with roof off.
I currently live in Japan, I’m about to pick up a 96 MR2 with very little issues. Been wanting this car for forever thank you for talking bout one of my fav JDM
Make sure they take the foam out of the rockers if you don't know what I'm taking about look into it most of them now days have been gotten tho. I did have to remove it from my car
used to see one of these around my neighborhood all the time. the guy had it modded out nicely with some nice wheels and wide tires. always loved seeing that car.
These cars are just so good. I have driven a turbo supra and i would not have traded my sw20 for it, just not nearly as fun. But it takes real skill and confidence to drive a mr2 fast. Georgous car in this video!
What i love about this car is when u pull up to idle the fans click on and it sounds awesome. Also when you hit 60mph the whole engine sound changes and it sounds like race car. Mine is beauty when was driving. Doubt it would start without work now...i notice you have the original double stereo cd , i had to buy mine seperate as it wasnt in it when i got it. Looks nice even as old as it is doesnt it and that big space without it is yuk..my daughter at 13 used to love standing on seat out roof as we drove in summer night along country roads, dont worry i never went fast..was just a bit of fun for her.
Something I don't mention..my ex needed a extra freezer one Xmas so for 14 miles, I squashed a fridge sized freezer into the passenger seat , roof panel off so it stuck out top and my gears had the edge of the freezer against it so to change I had to weirdly twist my hand to move it.when I got out I noticed I ripped the leather trim on the door...I've not looked to this day as say 8yr been in garage and covered in dust, flat tyres, battery etc...everything completely original on mine.
I picked up a 91' NA about 12 years ago, resurrected it and had a gen4 engine installed and have loved it everyday. I drive it every chance I can on the street and use it as a pace car for SCCA races so I get plenty of reliable track time on it. I laud you that you've kept the original spoile on yours and not riced it up with a newer look. One thing on these cars is that don't have the fake scoops and tacked on racy stuff so common to cars of it's era. The only "fake' thing is the replica vents between the rear tail lights, everything else is functional and the styling - inside and out - doesn't look dated.
I got a 1991 Canadian turbo in yellow 20 years ago, my bet is the asking price in 5 years will be 50 grand or more, it has become an investment for me now
I've owned my white mr2 93 turbo for the last twenty years. Once in awhile, i zone out and think about selling it. then i snap out if it and slap myself silly. It's a timeless machine with beautiful lines and still fun to drive shifting through the gears. It's refreshing to see content such as yours pop up on my feed. Thank you 🙏
Buy the junk ones and save them I paid 200 for mine off a flat bed on its way to the scap yard put 10k in it and it's a 15k (priceless to me) car all day. Loved the video you got a new subscriber!
I owned one in 2001 to 2003 with a trd wide body kit and a top end performance built motor with about 425 horsepower at the wheels. I loved it but sold it for the at the time a new 350z. I loved the mr2 though. Was so much fun to play with.
I had a mk2 T-bar GT, gun metal metallic, and I put Civic Type R alloys on it, I loved that car, the Type R alloys looked way better than you would imagine. 91 pre cat model, no power steering, just a raw driving experience, with an unburstable 2 litre twin cam 👌
I'm just going to look for a NA with little rust and good dash i want to mod alot on this car engine swap and aftermarket parts for the body and lots more i found a semi clean 1993 hardtop automatic here in Arizona for a good price i think I'm gonna jump on it before it's gone
ughhhh i bought one last summer and it started knocking 2 weeks after i got it on my first highway drive 20 mins into it... had 2000km on the freshly built engine with a fully built bottom and and i only got to put 200 km on it in those 2 weeks :( ngl i've been extremely depressed ever since that day watching mr2 videos is very bitter sweet. i really just want to drive my mr2 again it was the most fun i've ever had driving.
Oh how I miss my 1991 MR2 turbo 😢. I keep looking on auto trader in hopes that I will find it one day to buy back again! That is still my #1 car related mistake to sell it for a 2003 350Z when it first came out 😖. That being said I’m still enjoying my GR corolla circuit edition and have no plans of ever selling that because the goal is to pass it down to my son when he turns old enough and right now he’s only four years old 😂
@@reskepa7028 I agree it was a horrible decision. My dad had a 240Z back in the 70’s so I thought I’d try one out and…horrible decision 😢. My dad agreed that the MR2 was better than the 350Z.
Your MR2 has the perfect body kit and wheels! It had me curious the MR2 Turbo's are selling for currently here in the US. I just did a quick Auto Trader search and it looks like the SW20 MR2 Turbo's are priced at about 25k.........with 150k miles! It's alot of delearships that are overcharging but sometimes a certain delearship may be the only one that is selling the spec you are looking for. That would not be that bad if it was a Land Cruiser, and I did want to put any modifications on it or replace any parts. That wouldn't be the case for me buying one of these though. These are becoming overpriced. That's the case for any and cool 90's sports cars right now as we all know. It just blows my mind when dealerships list these kinds of vehicles with an automatic, high mileage and not even in good condition for 10k over what any somewhat smart person would ever pay. The main two things that draw people to these MR2's is the sleek, subtle, sporty and exotic like styling. Secondly, I think it's them being a mid engine sports car from Japan. It's like the NSX's little brother. I wouldn't be comfortable buying one with many more than 100k miles for any more than about 15k max. This would be if it was really well taken care of and maintained as well. Then though I could see myself having to spend another 15k for modifications and replacing LOTS and LOTS of the original parts with new oem parts if Toyota still makes them, or good quality aftermarket parts if not. I just bought a 2014 Lexus GX 460 2 years ago with 97k miles on it for 25k. I have already spent 10k just restoring it with mostly new OEM Toyota/Lexus parts to make it ride and drive as close to new as I can. Basically, When you are buying a 30 year old car like this it is going to need a ton of parts replaced to get it where I want to be. The buy in price on these is just way too high right now.
Stumbled across this video and loved it. I have a 97 MR2 Spider, only 25k miles on it, and I will be keeping it until I need a hoist to get in and out 😂
I'm gonna work my ass off this summer to try and get one but tuition is killin me. Probably could sell one of my other two cars for a bit of cash too. Worst part is people want too much for their mr2 that has a lot of small issues.
Man I own a black 93 hard top mr2 with a 2GR swap and it’s the best freaking car. I can’t emphasize that enough!! the sound, the power, the looks all of it. truly a perfect car!
@7771ham i also am the owner of a 2gr powered sw20. Went from attainable childhood dream car to something much higher than expectation. Wild, so glad TCS talked me into spending an extra 7 grand, which sounds ridiculous but is so true.
Clean mr2! Looks great! What rims are you running? 18’s? And what size/offset and tyre combo? 😬 Just looking at some 18’s myself but 8.5 (Front) and 9.5 (Rear). Very very tight!
When they bring out the new MR2 they need to bring back the pop-up headlights but I know that’s definitely wishful thinking especially with the renderings they have out now

so im in a rabbit hole on sw20s right now so here i am... i started off by looking at some v6 swaps with this car because. i have an odd fascination with the 1mz-fe from the camry; but the more i look into it, the more im just like "despite that i have this very engine, the amount of work required for this swap if i even had the sw20 chassis would be a fleeting dream" xD. Is that a full original Greddy body kit? That front lip looks great. Seems like the front lip on the replica kits that are out there sticks out a lot further and doesn't fit the lines of the car very well
Oh mate I love my t-bar , every chance I had to unclip her and stick those panels in the little velvet leather bags and stash behind the seats in their little seatbelt type clips , takes literally seconds to unclip remove Clip back on real simple..click lift pull...click slide push.. mine didnt leak..I'm guessing every one of them has the hidden safe under the driver's seat ssssssh 😉

These used to be underrated, but that was years ago. You can't find a clean one for a reasonable price anymore.
I dunno, I still see them pop up from time to time in the FB groups. What Japanese classic would you say is a better value in comparison?

wait a minute, that's crazy talk!

Thanks, they're Volk SF Challenges

Hello, I'm currently living in the Philippines, I bought a 1995 Toyota MR2 SW20 3SGE NA. It's on a good running condition and i'm currently having it on restoration, can you suggest any website or where can I order parts for my mr2?
Fantastic video as usual!!
Thanks for watching!
Def. a sweet ride! Quite a lot like my beloved '07 Vantage seems like!
I don't agree with these climbing in value. Some might be but most that are out there are not in best condition so to say they are climbing in value really only apply to some selective examples. I have two of these (turbo and N/A) and i can't say i see people jumping out offering me money for mine lol.
To be honest, I don't think that the value on most of these cars didn't just go up out of appreciation, but rather inflation is readjusting the prices, so it is the same....
Let's say you sold the MR2 for the price of a Supra back then... well, if you take that money to try and buy a supra.. it most likely won't happen because you will still be the same distance away from buying that supra... (unless you find a sucker or you are the suckered buying a lemon)
Nice paint job boss, is it a particular red
It's the original Crimson red
I would love to see the clean up
What ECU are you using? And how does the car run/function without a IACV. Would love to ditch mine.
AEM version 1 EMS. It's definitely pretty racecarish without the IACV - I'm used to it now but driveability suffers
That’s why I owned two Mr Two’s
Hey! What do you mean "after market throttle body"? is it not made for that car, or? :)
What size of tires do you have on your mr2?
hey man, im sorry, but is your car paint or wrap? If its wrap can you give me a link, i love that colour
It's the original paint
DUDE. In canada these cars are so damn expensive. They average around 10 - 20k in quebec.
Yep but that's peanuts compared to $100k for a similar aged Supra
Got mine 4 months ago. 91
Beautiful ride m8 !
Thank you!
Guy at the shop looked like a mix of Ricky, Julian, and Randy
😂
I’ve had mine in storage for nearly 11 years I paid £2200 for it I’ve been offered £16500 for it the way it sits 🤷🏼♂️
Touch wood I never had any trouble driving mine and I belted it many times ..mine was a fast little bitch at 150k mileage..😂😂😂
cleanest MR2? 🤔
"Test it oot" Confirmed Canadian
😂
Sw20 with ABS? In North America? Did any sw20 come with ABS anywhere? Google says no ABS.
Yes mine has ABS. Don't trust Google - they no longer share helpful info in the search results
Anytime I see mr2 content I watch right away lol
Heck yeah!
You could also get them in a convertible.
Yes , ultra rare!!!!!spyder

my dream car..
its not abs in them right ?
What brand of headlights are you using?
Boslla LED bulbs in Pegasus projectors
I had one.. i lived it!! Wife hated her
these were better by every measure (obviously), but i still think the first gens look great, because i am old
