It was the most diverse decade. Soft rock, hard rock, other kinds of rock, phenomenal R&B and disco. And the best singers, too. Didn"t know Randy Bachman was in The Guess Who. Jay and Amber you need to revisit them. Do American Woman (Lenny Kravitz covered this) or Undun. A great group.
Exact same age. Was at DMV on my 16th birthday - now kids don't care to drive, would rather have Uber take them. Of course along with music cars were fun then too. Used my summer job money to buy a five year old Mustang which would be worth its weight in gold now for like 300 bucks or so.
This makes me happy. So much. This is the song that got played so much people got sick of it and in fact their other song Takin Care of Business was actually the music you would hear on hold at Office Depot for the longest time. But they were such an incredible band. I'm glad you were able to pick up on the vibe for sure.
B.T.O. is such a great band. Definitely do Takin’ Care Of Business next. Their most famous song and some great guitar playing on it. Also, Randy Bachman was in The Guess Who, and they had a number of great songs too.
This song was absolutely huge in 1974. Randy Bachman's brother was the bands manager for a time and he stuttered. This song was a bit of a teas from older brother Randy to his younger brother but wasn't supposed to be on the album...until the record company heard it and said "this song is going to be a huge hit!". Went to number one in 22 countries!
I read back in the day that he didn't think he could hold a note so he 'chopped' it LOL If you watch the special where he and the guess who guy did together in like 2005(?) the guess who dude teases the sellout of him about it.
He absolutely did NOT have a stutter, it was just how he decided to sing this song. None of his other songs had any stutter in them, and his regular talking voice never had any kind of stutter. Stop making up lies.
@@onetruthmediacompany Randy Bachman didn't studder, his brother did. Randy told the story himself on his concert dvd "Every Song Tells a Story". Randy tells the audience a little story about how each song came about before performing it. It's one of my favorite dvd's. You should pick up a copy if you can but I believe they're getting hard to find, and expensive. Have a wonderful Sunday!
I remember hearing about this and am so glad they demanded it be on the album. It was a joke song to rib his brother and just meant as filler while they were figuring out other things. And it is truly an amazing song. I think my favorite of theirs is looking out for number 1, but this is up there for sure.
Amazing bit of trivia about Bachman's "stutter" in this. When they were recording it in the studio, he improvised it because his brother was there & he was poking fun at him... his brother had a stutter since childhood. Everyone liked it so much, they left it in the final recording.
"B.T.O" as we affectionately called them always had this driving sound. Funny thing about that song and the stutter thing that Randy performed came about from him teasing his little brother who came into the sound studio, and he started to make fun of his speech problem. It ended up in the song and many other artists started using the stutter i.e. The Who, Elton John and so on.
Exactly!! "DRIVING" is the perfect word, Kevin! I grew up listening and watching BTO in concert! I was so lucky to have grown up in the 70s when music was MUSIC!!
Every time I hear 70s music like this, I think of summers as a teenager hanging out at the CNE on the midway with my friends enjoying the rides, games, the people!! Our local radio station 1050 CHUM was the music you'd hear throughout the midway!! It was such a great time to be alive!! Nothing absolutely NOTHING beats the 70s and 80s for awesome good-time music!! ❤from 🇨🇦
My personal favorite is the very hard hitting “Let It Ride”. There are 2 main singers in this group. This guy also takes the lead on the infamous “Taking Care Of Business”. The other singer has a much harder “rock” voice which I prefer and he sings lead on the hits “Let It Ride” and “Roll On Down The Highway”
Always loved this song ! Loved growing up in the 70’s too , most people were so chill and laid back or maybe just the people I was around but I don’t think so because you see that in movies and such from that time as well! man it was an awesome time to be alive and I loved every dang minute of it . My kids laugh at the music I listen to and my hippie clothes 😂
Looking back now (I'm 70) it was amazing how from New York to Los Angeles and Washington to Florida we were all on the same page groovin' to the same vibe, fighting for the same issues and looking for love and peace. A whole nation of young people united by our music. And all we had was landlines, snail mail, and 3 TV channels!🔥🤣❤✌
Well said Dana, it was a special time. I think we may have been the last generation to have a basically carefree childhood. My kids make fun of the music too but then I find this song pop up on her “Oldies” playlist
I think the stutter is perfect. This girl is blowing his mind. She's so good it's making him stutter. I know it was originally a joke but the stutter works perfectly for the song.
Randy Bachman was a founding member of the Guess Who and the stutter part was a tribute to his brother who had a stutter when they were growing up. There is a cool jazzy cover of this by his Guess Who band mate Burton Cummings on his solo album
Not sure which decade I enjoyed the 70's or the 80's but both were full of great styles, great music, and for the most part super good vibes. Funny story about this song, the original track did not include the stutter of the Randy Bachman the singer, and former lead guitarist from The Guess Who, but Randy's brother who has a stutter sang the song in between takes, Randy loved the sound and decided to record it that way....just another rock n roll story....lol Hope you play more BTO like Roll On Down The Highway, my favourite!😁 Peace & Love 🙏❤
If you just shorten the band's name to BTO, every rocker will know who you mean. Love your reaction to this, one of my all-time favorite feel-good songs! "Ba-ba-ba baby, you ain't HEARD nothing yet!" until you listen to "Takin' Care Of Business"! Both are great BTO songs.
Amber you're right about the 70's. It was AMAZING. I turned 15 tears old in 1970 so my teen and young adult years were in that decade. I danced and sang my way through them. Ahhh sweet memories. These songs are bringing it all back. Thanks guys.

I learned from an interview with Randy Bachman years and years ago that he wanted BTO to be a rhythm based rock band. But I didn't know until very recently that they were sharing a dressing room with the Doobie Brothers in New Orleans during Mardi Gras in the first half of the 1970s when he worked out some of "Let It Ride" and the Doobies then based "Long Train Running" on his guitar noodlings as he ironed it out. That is astonishing and good to know because the Doobies are one of my all time favourite bands! Randy said in that interview eons ago, back in the 1970s IIRC, that he wanted a band that was rhythmically similar to CCR and the Doobies. Killer rhythm was the thing back in the 1970s and is much too absent from today's music. And BTO has so many excellent lead guitar solos! 😉🎸👌 That "70s sound of guitar" comes from there not being many guitar pedals to alter the sound of the guitar at the time. So if you were going to be an excellent guitarist you had to have "touch" in your fingers. There are plenty of good guitar players around today but also way too many that bury the actual tone of their guitars underneath a ton of effects pedals. The really good guitar players around today will tell you to develop your own signature "sound" with your guitar before drifting off into "guitar pedal-land" and obscurity because you just sound like some over processed thing that no one can get next to in their heart and mind. The lead guitarist in this song was Blair Thornton from Vancouver. 🎸🎸🎸
RIP Robbie Bachman, I had the same glasses and hairstyle in the 70's!! BTO was another great Canadian band that broke through on the American charts, they had some killer songs!
This group was extremely versatile a song you should check out is Blue Collar the common working-class anthem... BTO was a rock band but Blue Collar is a bluesy jazzy lounge tune... the guitar work will blow your mind. Cheers from Canada. Love you folks and your channel.
The guitar Randy is playing will have a documentary about it in the near future. It was his favorite and he composed many hits on it. It was stolen in the mid 1970s and he had searched for it ever since. A man read about it and went on a quest to find it. He was a able to identify the unique wood pattern and found it being played by a musician in Japan. Randy agreed to buy the guy another similar guitar to get his back. He has yet to fly to Japan to recover it.
Love you love the 70's Amber. I can confirm it was amazing growing up in the 70's. You guys are cool to be open to listening to the 70's stuff. It was amazing music and I love you appreciate it.

Yes, Sledgehammer and there were a number of great songs that weren't hits, but soooo good. Reactors don't get into the non hit music much, so miss a lot!
They were my first concert in 1973 in Bellingham Washington when I was a Freshman in college. Cool story is the backup band was Blind Willie. About ten years ago I took my guitar to get repaired at a guys shop in Spokane. He had a Gold record on his wall from this album. My guitar tech had played on this record. And I remember him from the concert in 73 playing lead for the backup band at my first concert. We became fast friends. It was a fun concert.

I’m not ashamed to say that one point in time, this was my favorite song. I’ve graduated in music, but this song holds a special place in my love of classic rock.
Fun fact: Randy's brother had a studder and Randy was teasing him when he practiced the song, they actually recorded it without the studder but the producer love the studder and that's the way he put it out. He like all brothers do was teasing his brother in a joking manner and not out of meanness like alot of people think.
YESSSS!!!! I asked awhile back for Takin' Care Of Business by BTO because in particular I thought Jay would like it. After seeing your reaction to this song I'm sure you'll both like it. Also another 70s song and rock band for Amber is Love Hurts by Nazareth. You will love the lead singer's voice.
Amber, it’s great that we can enjoy all of these great old videos. I was fortunate to be born in the fifties, which landed me in the 70’s at the age when my musical curiosity was piqued. 3:00 One of the reasons why you love 70's music, is that they used minor chords much more than composers do now, a minor chord in music tugs at your heart (which is why classical writers use it so often)
While being 60 might not sound like a benefit, living through these musical periods and how each song connected to my life is something that is organic. It is as if these songs were trading cards coming out one at a time, sometimes in bunches with connections to one another and still able to fan them out mentally. I am glad you are finding new music you love and sharing it with others. BTO was big and really different at the time.
Well said! As a fellow 60+ this is a thrill to watch our songs come back via these reaction videos. RSR has that excited new discovery approach that is a kick. A&A has a more cerebral reaction but with depth and a musical background. It is all awesome to me.

This song is another reason why I loved growing up listening to the music from the 70's.
B.T.O. is such a great band. Definitely do Takin’ Care Of Business next. Their most famous song and some great guitar playing on it. Also, Randy Bachman was in The Guess Who, and they had a number of great songs too.
American woman!!!
How about Not Fragile, Gimme Your Money Please and Hey You.
@@jerrysmith543 Along with "Rock is my life"
"Roll on Down the Highway",
"Let it Ride"
So many great BTO songs!
@@LiberalsArePoop American Woman is by The Guess Who...which included Randy Bachman. A good choice as well
This song was absolutely huge in 1974.
@@onetruthmediacompany You are right1 I never meant that he had a literal stutter though. Easy there! LOL
Eric, I was hoping someone would mention this, and as you did, say it as it was, teasing a brother. Not making fun of stutterers.
Thank you for sharing this. I was going to say it.
Yes, I think he was ready to record a 'real' take, and the producer or somebody said 'That's it. That's a hit. Your done with that one'
Amber you are truly a 70’s soul - the BEST decade of music EVER!!!❣️❣️
Probably one of the most underrated Canadian bands ever!
Bachman was in The Guess Who...Far from underrated.
Not in my house!
Yep. We lost Gordon Lightfoot yesterday. RIP Gordie.
@@N_Georgia_Trout also lost Tim Bachman , Randy Bachman confirmed the death of his brother through his manager on Sunday.
@@tony--james : Wow. Sorry to hear that.
I'm feelin' really old, all of a sudden.
The 70s were definitely...definitely...the king era of guitar solos. Keyboard and drums too.
Yup. Deep Purple’s keyboard player John Lord (RIP) and guitarist Ritchie Blackmore definitely were what the the 70s was all about.
That's because they had real drummers instead of programed, and no synthesizers (which have no soul!)
Roger Daltrey used the stutter in The Who classic My Generation in 1965, years before this came out.
@@mookie7688 exactly! Daltrey was imitating the speed popping Mods of early 60's London
Exactly!! "DRIVING" is the perfect word, Kevin! I grew up listening and watching BTO in concert! I was so lucky to have grown up in the 70s when music was MUSIC!!
@@mookie7688 exactly Roger was the first
Randy Bachman wanted to rerecord it without the stutter but the record label said no.
Now you need to hear "Takin' Care of Business".
Written & performed as an homage to Randy Bachman's brother who had a stutter as a child.
cf turner still has that awesome gravely singing voice
I think the stutter is perfect. This girl is blowing his mind. She's so good it's making him stutter.
I know it was originally a joke but the stutter works perfectly for the song.
Randy Bachman was a founding member of the Guess Who and the stutter part was a tribute to his brother who had a stutter when they were growing up. There is a cool jazzy cover of this by his Guess Who band mate Burton Cummings on his solo album
I love Burton Cummings. My brother had his album and I discovered it and wore it out!
I was about to comment but you did before I could mention Randy being a founding member of Guess Who. He co-wrote These Eyes with Burton Cummings.
You know its a great song when those of us from the 70s and those from the 2000's come together and love these GREAT songs!
Not sure which decade I enjoyed the 70's or the 80's but both were full of great styles, great music, and for the most part super good vibes. Funny story about this song, the original track did not include the stutter of the Randy Bachman the singer, and former lead guitarist from The Guess Who, but Randy's brother who has a stutter sang the song in between takes, Randy loved the sound and decided to record it that way....just another rock n roll story....lol
Hope you play more BTO like Roll On Down The Highway, my favourite!😁
Peace & Love
🙏❤
Don't forget "Taking care of business"
The rock music of the 1970s easily was much better than the music of the 1980s. Just my opinion!
The seventies were the days for sure! We took it for granted that music would just get better and better! Man we were wrong!
Way better than today!
For example back then they actually played instruments and sang with their real voices
Guitar driven rock and roll! Nothing better than the 70’s!
I am 60 and from Canada... and I enjoyed the hell out of listening to a song with you crazy young people!
"Roll On Down The Highway ~ 1974 ..........Another great rock song!!
Amber you're right about the 70's. It was AMAZING. I turned 15 tears old in 1970 so my teen and young adult years were in that decade. I danced and sang my way through them. Ahhh sweet memories. These songs are bringing it all back. Thanks guys.
me to as im crying
I don't think y'all were meant for another era. I think you were meant for this one, to make sure mine doesn't die with me.

Us 70s babies need youngsters like you to carry our torch. And your babies will do the same for you.
That’s a great way to look at it 🙋🏻♀️
TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU!!!
Amen.
Amen!!!!!
They were a great band; please do more reaction’s to them. Love you guys.❤️🙏🏽
Born in '59, I loved growing up in the '60s and '70s. Peace and love everywhere. You would be groovy as a flower child. Rock on you two. Peace out ✌️
Amber, as someone who grew up in the 70s and can unequivocally say how right you are. We were blessed to be exposed to so such a huge variety of music across a wide range of genres on a daily basis. If you're a music lover (which I know you are!) it was a great time to be growing up!
And it's even better cuz the groups can actually play their instruments....
Born in 68 and came of age in the 80s, but the 70s contributed so much to the culture that many songs from my early childhood have become anthems.
They need to be brought back But No dark wall paneling lol The music the clothes The beat of the 70s TOPS ALL ,,,Feathard hair Bell bottoms The Babes in the 70s WERE SO FINE Just great times , The movies the tv shows Happy Days Mash Little House Dukes of Hazzard Dallas,, Movies Jaws Star wars Rocky ,, Grease I would go back if i could,,
This is why the 70s were ASS KICKING GREAT , Todays so called rock sucks
Amen!
Love, love, love💖💖💖
BTO is one of my fave groups of all time. Amber, if you had been around in the 70s, we would have taken you to the concert with us! So much fun! Randy Bachman (lead singer) was a former member of The Guess Who. Loved your reaction😊
The lead singer on this song is Randy Bachman. His son, Tal Bachman had a hit in ‘99 with “She’s So High” which you should react to.
I was gonna make this comment, glad someone mentioned it. Tals song was very good and a big hit!
I didn’t realize that was his son! Tals song is awesome!!
Absolutely! Please react to "She's so High" by Randy Bachman's son Tal Bachman!
That "70s sound of guitar" comes from there not being many guitar pedals to alter the sound of the guitar at the time.
Best song ever is Taking Care of Business.
Yes, they should definitely react to "Taking Care of Business" for sure!
Respectfully, I argue that Let it Ride is their greatest hit. But it is a different vibe.
Randy Bachman. Rob Bachman. Fred Turner. Blair Thornton. The Fab Four of Canadian Rock. You Ain't Seen Nothin' Yet...
Love you love the 70's Amber. I can confirm it was amazing growing up in the 70's. You guys are cool to be open to listening to the 70's stuff. It was amazing music and I love you appreciate it.
Rob would like BTO's sledgehammer-the song sounds like the title-heavy riff that rocks!! Other BTO hits include-Let It ride, roll On Down the Highway and Shotgun Rider. If you like cowbells-check out the Chamber Brothers-The time Has Come Today and the group Mountain with Mississippi Queen.
Mountain - YES!! Love that band and their popular song Mississippi Queen!
Yes, Sledgehammer and there were a number of great songs that weren't hits, but soooo good. Reactors don't get into the non hit music much, so miss a lot!
Also "The Rapper" by The Jaggerz for cowbell!
Chambers Brothers!! yes!!! "Time Has Come Today"!!!
oh yeah "Time Has Come Today" - so good.
Takin' Care Of Business is another great song by BTO
I turned 20 in '72..I couldn't asked for better music and great vibes to start my journey to find out who I was!!!
I'm 61 yrs old and I have loved BTO since I was 10 yrs old!!!
The 70's was the best time to a teenager we had the best cars the best bands the best music the best concerts!! 🎶.We heard it it first!!! ❤️
Just the haircuts and clothes sucked lol. And you mention best cars.....but I might disagree with that, unless you talking mustangs
sixties for the beatles alone made it best
This is my favorite B.T.O song but when I was a kid my sister had the 45 "Hey You" which I recommend. They do seem like a fun band.
When that song came out in the 70's, it was on every jukebox. Great tune. And band. BTO has a lot of great music. As mentioned already, "Taking Care of Business" should be your next one. Y'all will love it.
I’m not ashamed to say that one point in time, this was my favorite song. I’ve graduated in music, but this song holds a special place in my love of classic rock.
That was my time. Born in the 60s and raised in the 70s. We had the prettiest girls the best music and the best cars.
The lead singer for BTO was the lead guitarist for the Guess Who for a few years!
Great tune! Such an uplifting energetic song!
Taking care of business is their best song
Let it Ride is their best song...
Their song 'Hey You' definitely deserves a listen. The best of BTO in their prime.
Forgot about that one. Good call!
Fun fact: Randy's brother had a studder and Randy was teasing him when he practiced the song, they actually recorded it without the studder but the producer love the studder and that's the way he put it out. He like all brothers do was teasing his brother in a joking manner and not out of meanness like alot of people think.
I did not know this until yesterday! Professor of Rock did a video with the backstory, it's just like you said it was.
I remember seeing this band open for ELO back in the middle 70's. The best concert ever.
It was also a time when people didn’t have to spend a fortune to see a live show. I attended an incredible number of concerts back in the day. I couldn’t afford to do that now. Rock on guys!🌺✌️

no BS autotune, no BS “sampling”, and no BS digital
Reminds me of art class. We were melting down old keys and making rings. My design was a sun. 🌞 Cool teacher playing this stuff as we worked. 🎵❤️
How fun! Art teachers were the best. My art teacher played Aerosmith as we splattered paint on film to convert into slide shows. Great times!
3:00 One of the reasons why you love 70's music, is that they used minor chords much more than composers do now, a minor chord in music tugs at your heart (which is why classical writers use it so often)
Never thought of that ,,
BTO = the soundtrack of my youth. 1974 I was 12. Discovered Rush about the same time - prob. 13 for that. 1970's music was/is matchless.
Robbie Bachman, the drummer, was on fire here. RIP
Let It Ride and Takin Care of Business are the big songs from this band. This was a hit, but not at that level.
Four wheel drive is another banger
Rock is My Life, and This is my Song, Not Fragile, Blue Collar, Sledgehammer, it goes on and on!
