This was my Uncle Donald York. My husband and I weren’t there for a few reasons. First we weren’t aware of his passing until much later. My grandmother, his mother passed away in 2001 in Northern California. She never learned to even drive a car. She passed away of ovarian cancer even though she had a doctor perform a hysterectomy years before. Only for us to find out the doctor only removed 1 ovary and left the other. She had no idea. She loved my Uncle Donald very much but lived on the other side of the country and had been sent to Heaven about 10 years prior. I remember when I was growing up all her stories about her eldest son and how much she missed him and loved him dearly. She had 8 children and I was the first grandchild. My father was Uncle Donald’s baby brother, my grandmother’s second child. My father loved and missed him very much too and if he had known about his passing without a doubt he would have been there. My husband is a retired and disabled Combat Veteran also and during this time we just PCS’d to Fort Sam Houston and bought our families first home since Military life. The next time I am able to get up north to visit the family on that side of the country I plan on visiting my dear Uncle Donald’s gravesite and my husband’s Uncle Jim who is buried there as well. God Bless you and Embrace you into his Kingdom for one day I will have the honor to join you with our Heavenly Father. I wish I would have had the honor to have you as an influence during my childhood. I know what a brave and wonderful man you were because of the mother God blesses you with. We love you Uncle Donald. Until we meet again our Hero!😘😢💗🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

This was very moving. The passing of a hero has been forever immortalized. Almost 1.4 million views, makes me glad that so many got to witness and pay respects to Major York. I'm sure he would have been pleased to know so many people seen his funeral. May he rest in peace, for his service to our country and to everything it stands for. For answering the call to action, to defend his nation and people. I am truly honored to witness his funeral.

Also want to talk on how this video has received 314 dislikes, why would anyone dislike this? Plus want to adress any troll who want to make fun of this situation or mock it. A human being is gone, a person who had a lifetimes store of memories and experiences, knowledge and wisdom. All of that is now gone. Even without his service to this country, he deserves respect. Thats all. You dont have to think its sad, you dont have to agree with his beliefs, you can even hate the military, all you have to do is shut up and be respectful. Thats not asking to much is it?

Lynn Stoneburner my dad was the same way however he had a wish for a religious service and not a state funeral with military honors. While with me I'm not well known enough to have a state funeral when I pass but I do know I don't want cremation but I also want something that respects the religious and non religious alike, however if whoever is president at the time offered me a state funeral I would take it in a heartbeat. My grandpa on my dads side is buried in a religious cemetery while my maternal grandparents are buried in a military cemetery.

GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY SIR AND THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE. I just went to a memorial service for a friend of mine today. He passed at 89 years old and had military honors. He was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars and received a purple heart along with other awards. I can sum up his life by saying : A LIFE WELL LIVED. He had children - Grandchildren and Great - Great Grandchildren ... Along with a wife for the past 10 years. He was a devout Christian and he bled red - White and blue. God bless each and every military personnel for whatever service - For the good - They perform for this country.

Although it's since 2011 I watched this clip with estonishment. The respect, professionalism and understanding that Major Donald B. York received was first of all earned. I'm from Belgium (Europe) and we don't have such funerals for military people overhere. The respect and flawless execution of the soldiers are indeed estonishing. I'm sorry for your loss. Hope you'll find comfort in the respect Major Donald B. York has received from the US Army.

My grandfather was liberated by the US Army in Italy. He later immigrated here and served in the army. His dying wish was to have a military funeral. I will never ever forget the poise, professionalism and respect those men in the honor guard had when they carried out his military honors. TAPS always brings tears to my eyes, and I'll always remember the moment it started playing, everyone in the area that was not part of the funeral stopped. There was a construction air across the street and they stopped working for the duration of taps and the folding and presentation of the flag. Always gets me choked up when I think of it. God bless all those who served.

@@OVER9000xDxD The audacity to speak about a veteran in such a way, completely disrespectful. You should be ashamed of yourself. Whether they are a natural born citizen or an immigrant, when you fight for this country you deserve the respect of everyone living in it. To then say he deserved to be executed? I swear on everything I love, you are so lucky you did not say that to my face. That man is a better person than you will ever be, you will live your life knowing you are so low that you'd shit on a person who greatly respected America so much, they immigrated here and fought for us. Charlie Chen Being in the military is a good paying job, just check the military pay table and see why many do not want to get out after 4 years but stay for 20 years and "retire" for life. It's a good gig if you can get it.

Holly Wood They don't make as many as a lot of other professions. Plus there are so many safer jobs that pay more

Charlie Chen They make more than average national salary, plus they get benefits that's far surpass many workers get from their company. Where can you find a job that you can retire at 38 years of age with full benefits and medical?

My son was with me; he was filming. He was the only one who cared for Don along with me, who with me held my husband during his final moments and who provided me with emotional support. Don's friends and family were either deployed, too sick to travel, had scheduling conflicts or couldn't afford to fly in. That's why we decided to film the ceremony. Since we extended all of our financial resources to take care of my husband while he was sick, we couldn't afford to fly anybody in.

Great grandad, Alfredo Ramirez, was a 101st veteran. When the M1s were fired, and they draped the flagged over his funeral, I was on the verge of tears. What done it in for me was when they hoisted his casket off. I cried the hardest I ever did in my life, and sometimes I still do when I reminisce on it. He was like a father to me and my maternal family...
